I've always loved reading and still do. there's just something different about a book and the Internet can't take away that magical feeling of turning a page

Getting books as birthday present and as prizes when winning essay competitions.

And then going to the libraries, going to fiction sections.

Buying cheap, second hand books at the roadside.

Opting for ordinary covers than hard covers to save money.

When there is no interesting program on tv, when there is lot of time after finishing all the work, holding a book, reading and then sleep with the book still in hand.

When I was a youngster I used to read while eating and get scolded for doing so.

EvenI used to get scolded for reading while eating.
But once I reached 11 th I used to read in class room too😛.
used to be immersed in books during holidays.forgetting about food and sleeo
Walking through lending libraries and book shops used to feel like we were walking on clouds😆

It's good that we grew up in an era where books ruled.
Now with so much information available online it is very difficult to get our kids to read books or appreciate their worth
I guess we have to get used to the fact that they live in a different era.

Absolutely! The joy of reading a book, even re-reading after gap of few years is priceless - Its one addiction that is positive and widens your horizon so much - reading Erich Sehgal's novels have made Radcliffe and Harvard so familiar :) Great to see a bunch of book lovers here

What a beautiful description of a book lover's recollections , beautiful memories of childhood days and youthful interests ! Reading magazines was considered as a sophisticated hobby once , now working on LT or on IPhone is considering as a Hasthabhushanam to a modern woman !
A book is a dream that you hold in your hand , a life, you are going to read in a detailed manner . When I read a book, I put in all the imagination I can, so that, it is almost like writing the book as well as reading it ,or rather, it is like living it. It makes reading so much more exciting, very interesting , while reading , living in those pages .
There are so many books to read , for that reason alone it is worth going on living !
If we encounter a man of rare intellect, we should ask him what books he reads.

To part with a book is like parting with a dear friend.

When people borrow books I always feared that it wont be returned. And my books were not returned. Its difficult to ask them to return. They will say that they still have to read them or someone else borrowed that book. So I started hiding my books.

When you read the book for the first time, you will comprehend only 30 percent or so. when you re read it, you will find new meanings and new surprises. At different time intervals, a book becomes like unravelling a mystery and also unravelling what the writer wants to say.
