The fate of males.

The goodhearted Bhairon was sent away after his diminished role.

Basant was killed in an accident so that they can dwell upon social customs vis a vis widows and remarriage issues.

Shiv was also killed for the same reason though he was very promising and caught eyeballs.

Jagya had his time as both grey and positive person but nowadays his role is not explored well enough or given interesting twists.

Now only anandi and dadisa have become role models while DB as negative character is dominating. Dadisa is more assertive and more result oriented due to her innate strong nature while anandi is accommodating and less assertive and tries to seek the middle path.

So can we anoint Dadisa as the real hero of BV? What a fantastic woman she is.

Anandi was the real hero of the serial and still is. The problem is - serials stereotype women and women cannot be assertive unless they are of DS's age or are negative character. Whatever little experience I have with serials (watched very few, but vaguely aware of the story of more serials) - I have come to this conclusion. So, Anandi is assertive and almost ruthless for outsiders (Rasika, Pramila et. al) but will always be demure daughter in law who cares for family and will hide the kartoots of the likes of DB.

I think DS was assertive even when she was young. She was able to run away with kids and make her own life.
