Biscoot Showtym met with television's heartthrob Siddharth Shukla, who is all geared up for his big ticket to Bollywood with Karan Johar's venture, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya. The actor talks about his excitement towards his debut film, his equation with co-stars Varun, Alia and much more: 1. What's the reaction you got from your fans after watching Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania? - They told me that I look good in the film and are very excited for me. 2. How did the transition happen for you from TV to Bollywood? - When I came to Jhalak, I was already doing television. I met Karan Johar at Jhalak, fortunately he had this movie around that time, and he was looking to cast for this character and he thought that I fit the role and thus I got a call from Dharma. I auditioned for it and here I am (laughs) 3. So what was your reaction when you learnt that Karan has finalized you for the film? - It was unreal, I couldn't believe that I got a call from Karan and somebody from Dharma wanted to cast me! And when I realised that the call was for real and so was everything around, I had to buckle up and let things just flow the way they did. It has been a nice experience. 4. You already have a huge fan following, still you chose a film that already has a hero... - I think I just wanted to be seen, I didn't know if people would like to see me. Ok, they like me as Shiv, but would they like to see me as Siddharth Shukla or would they prefer to watch me as a different character is something that I wanted to find out. In fact Karan had given me an option that 'Siddharth if you don't like it you are free to say no, don't be a coward that chalo Karan Johar has offered you the movie and you have to do it now or else there would be a problem'. But I liked the script and I liked what I was doing. 5. At any point did you feel being overshadowed by Varun? - No, it was always about the character we are playing. And every character has his own phase and knows what the other character is doing. So all these questions come when you read the script. Later while shooting you can't just wake up and say that 'Arre boss aisa ho raha hai'. Things will happen the way they are supposed to happen and your character is playing exactly the way it will suit you. 6. Any fond memories during the shooting of the film? - Varun has helped me a lot with my dance steps. He is a fantastic dancer and whenever I used to get stuck, he used to help because I am not the best dancer, inspite of Jhalak I needed somebody to help me. 7: How would you rate Varun as an actor? - I think he is a fantastic guy and has done a fantastic job so far. He has got all the good ingredients to be an actor and a star. He has done two movies, both have been big hits. He is a great dancer, a great looking guy, speaks well, acts well, what else you want, he has got it all. 8. So what do you prefer more television or film? - Of course film, I always wanted to do films. Like I told you that I did television because that was only the medium where I could learn acting. And at the same time it's paying me, so that's the reason why television happened. And for the time being I would continue to do TV, lets see what happens after that. 9: Why should audience go and watch Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya? - Alia and Varun make a great pair, the movie has been shot really well by our director and I am also a part of it, so please watch.
