At some point I would like to see this so called educated modern progressive thinking upper class urban family looking at themselves and see for themselves how backward thinking narrow minded they have been under the veneer of this so called urban sophistication.They thought they were being maha progressive and enhancing their social standing by accepting a divorcee woman as their DIL.They thought it is a testimony for their broadmindedness.
They gave their daughter education and told themselves that they have given her freedom.But did they impart any need for independence in their daughter's mind.They thought allowing her to go out in the evening with boys and allowing her to wear modern kapde is giving freedom.
But they never taught her about the importance of being self sufficient or independent.They are all set to marry her off to the first guy they came across soon after she completed her degree.Sanchi who was stubborn and bent on having her own never ever thought of going out and getting a job for herself and the family is content with it.
When Sanchi found herself in unfortunate circumstances they tried to brush this whole thing under the carpet.Their education and class did not seem to have given them the strength and courage to take on the rapist.Their instinctive reaction was to hide the incident
Even now it is all about finding a man for her rather than strengthening her.
From the time Anandi came into this house she has been fighting the se prejudiced and hypocrisy which she saw in her in MIL and SIL.But somehow this has never been brought out in a more forcible manner which should have been nrought out.

My point is that just how they got the spunky kid to question the age old belefs of DSa and the villagers in such an engaging manner they should have made the spunky confident grown up Anandi question this complacency in this urban family in a much clearer manner.
