A/N: This is a shameless piece of fluff occurring as a result of exams coming up and a my frustration with the negativity going on in the serial. It isn't much, but I hope you guys enjoy đł
A SUNDAY
The loud blaring of the horn woke him up. He opened his eyes sleepily, let them pass around the small room and closed them again. A small smile appeared on his lips as he felt a tiny little bundle cuddle closer to him
Jagya stretched and hugged the bundle closer to him. It was a Sunday. He could lie in bed longer and spend time with his favourite girl who had currently succeeded in taking away half of his blankets and was giving an impression of a mole in them. He laughed and rolled her over so that she was no longer sleeping on her stomach
A dainty little sparrow hopped onto the windowsill. Jagya smiled lazily and reached out to it. The sparrow mistaking his overtures took off in a flurry of wings and angry squawks, leaving the sunlight to come streaming in, illuminating the tiny room, the toys piled neatly against the wall and a blackboard with numbers on it. That was the result of his attempting to teach Mannu algebra which had ended in both of them coming to a truce and abandoning the blackboard in favour of a remote controlled helicopter. Ganga had sighed and laughed before proceeding to join in the game
He had to get up, he thought unwillingly as he tucked the little bundle closer to him. It was a beautiful morning and he didn't want to spend it tucked in blankets. It looked like Mannu was up already judging by the cacophony of noise coming from the kitchen accompanied by the shrieks of their daily woman. Jagya suppressed a grin
Mannu apparently had managed to make good his escape. Jagya could hear his 6 yr old son's feet coming up the stairs followed by sounds of other running feet and an exasperated cry of "Mannu"!
The door burst open. Mannu launched himself frantically at Jagya crying "Bapusa! Tell Ma to stop!"
Jagya laughed and swung him up in the air careful to avoid the tiny creature next to him and then shielded himself and Mannu with his hands as the wife of his bosom burst into the room, her hair dangling drunkenly, eyes wild and covered from head to foot in flour
Both Mannu and Jagya looked at each other for a split second before bursting into laughter. Ganga swelled in outrage
"Ha, ha! Doctor Saab, either you discipline your son or so help me god, I will GROUND BOTH OF YOU!" she shrieked a cloud of dust enveloping her
Jagya smothered another laugh and said in a slightly unsteady voice" I presume this was Mannu's idea?"
"It was an experiment!" his son declared indignantly
This was too much for Ganga. As she proceeded to tell Mannu exactly what she thought of his disastrous penchant for experimentation and their results, Jagya merely tucked Mannu closer to him and smiled proudly. At 6yrs of age, his son was already giving promise of being a scientific prodigy what with his insatiable curiosity and his thirst for reading. No matter what Ganga said, Jagya could see that if properly fostered his talent could lead his son to greatness and he silently vowed that he would give everything he could for his son to accomplish his dreams. Presently he had a family tiff to solve
"I think Mannu understands the- No experimentation in the kitchen -rule now Ganga "he said fondly getting an irritated glare from his furious wife. "Plus I rather think you have woken up the baby" he followed up quickly
That got her attention. She quickly came over to the bed and uncovered the tiny cocoon of blankets to reveal a tiny 1 yr old baby scrunching up her face in annoyance. His adored daughter, Smiti
Smiti gurgled as Mannu tickled her feet. Ganga laughed. To hell with getting up, Jagya decided. It was a Sunday. Dragging a laughing Mannu and a shrieking Ganga into the bed with them, he tucked in his family and fell back into the pillows
It was a beautiful day; He had his adored wife and his two precious perfect children with him. What more could a man ask for? He thought as his eyes slowly closed
