For me it would be Bhairon. He is a very rational man, level headed, mature and knows how to balance everyone in family.

You can't ever call him a mamma's boy or a hen pecked husband.

He's perfect even if he doesn't have muscles or six pack abs!

BTW what is Jagya doing in this list? Who'd want a husband like that?

All those who claim Bhairon never stood up against Maa sa should probably watch old episodes to know the truth.

Only "Anandi" has not changed Bhairon.

Bhairon always stood up for everyone be it Gehna, Anandi, Sumitra, Basant's first wife and their families whenever DS barked or discriminated against them.

In his capacity and set up he did whatever he could do to rebel against orthodox and oppressive systems.

He was against child marriage too this is why he did not allow Sugna's gauna till age of 18. And he turned totally against it after he saw Sugna's fate as unwed mother, little Anandi's fate and Gehna's fate!

It was HE who fought to get Anandi educated and even ignited spirit of change in her even as DS and Jagya had extinguished it!

Whatever Anandi became was due to Bhairon.

Bhairon is more sensible than Shiv in handling his family. He rebelled against DS and Basant but never crossed his limits. He was always careful in his choice of words even in worst occasions (unlike Shiv).

Bhairon is no mamma's boy.

And even at this age he loves Sumitra as dearly as he used to when he had first married her.

As a man he has never behaved like a boss at home (unlike Shiv who thinks he's Collector saab even at home!). Even to make his point or to put others in place he kept exercising restraint and gave away only when things crossed all limits.

Bhairon is the best male character in BV. Hands down.

And he's the one responsible for upliftment of women in BV from Anandi to Gauri!

To be progressive after being brought up and educated in progressive milieu is a given. But to be progressive and rebellious despite a totally partriarchal and orthodox milieu in unbringing, education & work is difficult, rare and exceptional - something which only Bhairon had in the whole serial.

Bhairon also realises his mistakes himself. Even when his kids did blunders he only questioned & beat up himself first asking himself, "Kahan galti ho gayi humse? Kya kami reh gayi hamari parvarish mein?" instead of blaming his wife for the kids turning out to be rotten!
He never needed "pep talks" by others to make him realise he was also wrong. His own self introspection is so strong.

It's rare for a man in any milieu and hence more exceptional in Bhairon's case considering his rural background.

Bhairon never resorted to violence in dealing with others (except for slapping his son for the ultimate blunder). He always resorts to rational talks. There's not a dint of male ego or machismo in him. Nor any "maan" of his wealth, position or status (unlike Shiv who sometimes has shown Collector saab hangover).

Bhairon sa all the way!

Bhairon sa all the way!

i agree with your points but till some extent...when has Shiv being shown to have collector saab hangover (what does it really means? 😕)
and Shiv has never tried to take control over his house...it's actually quiet opposite...he has no control over his small sister and he cannot drill sense in his wife also.
if you think Bhairon as spoken up only when things got out of hands then i would say Shiv has tolerated a lot from Singhs and that too not just because he loves Ananadi but also because he respects the members of Singh family
Shiv is perfect man and but unfortunately he is too unreal to exist in reality...yes it's true Shiv failed to create balance b/w his family and in-laws but let's not compare Shiv and Bhairon on such basis because Shiv is recently married and new to such household drama whereas Bhairon has got years of experience...so though i support Bhairon to be a better husband compared to Shiv there are very logical reasons of why Shiv has not yet reached that level of perfection in his marriage
