The character of Anandi emulates an array of qualities- love, compassion, honesty, strength, intelligence, innocence... A wonderful creation indeed.

The creatives have challenged the viewers imagination by changing the lovable Anandi not only once but twice.

I couldn't help comparing the speech of Toral's Anandi yesterday with that of Pratyusha's Anandi coz I would try to look for A in her. Are P's-A and T's-A alike? No I don't think they are. They are very different from each other. But so was the case with Avika's A and P's-A. What made me accept P's-A at that time was the fact that they both were representing a totally different era in A's life. P's A was totally different from the kid A. The spunk, naughtiness, inquisitiveness, talkativeness, etc vanished. But the P's-A justified a change due to the age difference and change in situations. During the growing up years the kid A had to face a lot of ups and downs in her life which demanded that she mature faster than expected. What made this transition smooth was the strong story line and good acting by the CVs and Avika/Pratyusha respectively which soon turned this new A as an adorable and loving one. A one who made room in our hearts through her compassionate character who was also fiery when need be. She made us cry and sympathize with the trauma she had to face seeing her marriage fall apart. But she still held strong to her values and true to her conscience. Although there was injustice done to her she did not seek revenge but did only what was the right thing to do. The story line was strong and logical & Pratyusha did an amazing job portraying all this. She brought the character to life and justified it so well. Who would say she was a debutant?

After her marriage to Shiv, I did not want the CVs to continue reflecting on her past trauma since she made a new beginning and was more fortunate than others to find a perfect life partner and a strong support system. Hence logically I would want her to move ahead and embrace her new life. In the last few episodes of P's-A she was returning to the original happy and positive A just like the kid A. So it would have been interesting to see how smoothly they transitioned T's-A towards this.

For me, T's A is closer to the Avika's A. She speaks confidently, has an assertive tone and looks happy. This reflects A who has moved onto the next phase of her life which is more than welcome. But I still feel that the transitioning could have been made smoother. When Pratyusha left, her character was happy and slowly getting back into her bubbly self. In spite of that she portrayed the inhibitions and hesitation that every newly wed who is slowly settling into her new life has. Hence the change shown in T's A does look a little too sudden to me. I hoped the CVs could have transitioned this part gradually which would have made it easier on the eyes of the viewers.

Now what's left to see is what story have the Cvs penned for T's-A? They need to show her move ahead in her personal and professional life. The onus lies in the CVs now how creatively they make the story for us viewers to be convinced to keep watching.

With all the changes, the character of A continues to live and progress representing the various facets of a woman's life. Kudos to that creative mind to bring to us such a wonderful character..

PS: This thread is only a description of how I have perceived the character of Anandi. It has nothing to do with the actors, but more to do with the creatives imagination and direction. Your views are welcome but I request you to please present them in a cordial manner.

very well written. I think if pratz and Ph issues were settled they could have shown the transition easily. They were doing it too you know but I guess what ever happened, they found the best possible solution
So far I am happy with toral's presentation of Anandi's next phase.

I am looking at it like you have written... the 3rd phase of her life... the life with shiv and on... Professional career most likely coming up..

lets see :)

Thanks Suchi. So far even I am very happy with Toral. She has been acting well. What I would have liked to see was Toral also being made to enact a little bit of that hesitation and a softer tone and then gradually take her to this stage. Nevertheless it has been a good beginning from her and the CVs side.

I am guessing that the new A may move into politics where her stronger personality will be explored. But as you said lets wait and watch...

A very nice post Anita.

I never watched Avika's Anandi. So, have no idea. I was on and off with P's A. But, ofcourse since Shiv's entry I watched P's A without missing a single episode.😳

I think T's A is doing good. P's A was happy that day and her happiness in showing in the way she gave her speech. Maybe with scenes with Shiv, T's Anandi might show all that inhibition of a newly wed. That part will be interesting to see. I am curious to see how T's A will be able to show those emotions that P's A was trying to convey. Hope they will be able to maintain that continuity.

Beautiful post Anita. Thanks for that.

The three phases of anandi's life is unfortunately divided and shared by three people.

Avika Anandi - A happpy and a confident child who was later trained to fit into a conservative family.

Pratyusha Anandi - A cheated and mentally abused wife who struggled to stand up after being shattered to pieces

Toral Anandi - A well settled , happy woman who gained back her confidence in life ... who is in love with a guy who gave her relentless support at her hard times.

Avika and Pratysha did well in their respective roles...and toral seems to be doing well too. Personally i would enjoy this third phase of Anandi's life as this is filled with so much positivity and love.

Very good post Anita.

Anandi, as her name suggests, means happiness. She sees the goodness in others. She stands up for what she believes in. She leaves the bad memories and cherishes the good memories. She spreads happiness around. Avika's Anandi was inquisitive and full of energy. That was the child Anandi. Prats Anandi showed another phase of her life. It started nicely, but later she had to face rejection and still she managed to keep going. She carved an identity for herself, as an adorable DIL, guiding teacher, social worker, a dependable friend and a simple person with no ill-wishes towards anybody. We have to wait and watch for how's T's Anandi going to be shaped up. But from the indications, it looks like we will see a people's leader, a loving wife and an inspirational figure for weaker sections of the society.

The transition from P's Anandi to T's Anandi could have happened bit smoother. The change looks abrupt. May be CVs had this in mind when Anandi's marriage got fixed. I used to wonder why they did not show Shiv-Anandi budding romance during the Sagai period. Also, they showed very less flash-backs of child Anandi during Anandi-Shiv wedding.

Life's events transform a person. That reflects in the way they talk and act. However, core values remain intact. A strong willed Dadisa could not completely subdue an equally strong willed Anandi . Anandi has a natural ability to connect with people. She is kind. She is simple. She is brave. She is traditional in her appearance, but modern in her thoughts. Her major vulnerability is she does not love herself. She should treat herself with the respect she deserves, and should not allow people like Sanchi to put her down. Hope she loves Shiv as an equal partner and progress in her personal and political life.

Andv, Thanks for this beautiful post. 👏 Though I have not watched BV from the beginning but still I can relate to your post and understood what you wanted to convey.

The stages and phases of Anandi is well thought out in CV's mind...character is their brain child and no actor can mess with it period. It is their vision and their idea /dreams which is being portrayed on screen by actors. Avika had that spunk and effervescence that's why she was selected to portray Baby A jee and she did it with exuberance and vitality .

Then Pratz was selected as she was most fitting for that part of A jee's life and P worked hard to make it as convincing as possible...

The girl who wanted to be loved and cherished by her husband was relinquished and CV's made sure P played that part perfectly. Then came the difficult part ...Thee did not have to cherish thou's loss but had to feel and love thy wound ...This was the most difficult part to play and P played it so well because it was all so well written, thought out and executed. Then came her knight in shining armor ...who wanted to love her, cherish her and make her the happiest in the world ...she could not believe that God could weave magic in btw her all so human world ...after interacting with him she knew about his goodness and fondness for her & finally she decide to marry him become his wife but she perversely refrained from becoming his soul mate though she knew that what she is doing is not correct...again a very difficult and challenging and complex thing to convey to audience but CV had a tight script and there was no room for error. I ABS LOVED THIS PART of the story & P played it with aplomb.

But what you say is right the transition should have been bit more smoother but sometimes things happen (employ & employer) and it was beyond production house to retain P after her notice period.

So I guess they did the dream sequence to make her realize her love and smoothed the rough edges in the process...a smart move by CV's. She had to go & they let her GO as simple as that. Now that she has realized her deep love and fondness for her Prince charming nothing will stop her and she is again at a new juncture at her life ...So I'm confident this new confident girl Toral will be able to portray that Ajee for us with director's help. The dream & the speech was bridge between P's A & T's A ...KUDOS TO CV.

I'm sure Cv's will present to us their dream child Ajee in such a way that we'll again fall in love with her.

For the curious ones I'm 1/12th Wadhwa, a warrior tribe from the northern India. I never make wish the father of FACTS rather I gather facts and then speak. 😊
