This is totally unexpected guys.I dont know what made me write it but I just felt like writing it.Though its already 3 in the morning and I have a hectic scheduele of lectures in the college tomorrow but still I just felt like wriitng it.So pls forfive the mistakes. Hope u all will like it 😊
ANANDi,SHIV AND JALEBIS
Shiv perspired profusely as he briefed the engineers standing under the scorching sun. It was a sweltering summer afternoon in Jetsar and Anandi and Shiv had come out for a field inspection of a large piece of land adjoining the Jetsar bazaar where a Girls High School had been proposed. Nearly a week had passed since Anandi and Shiv got engaged and though it took them a lot to ease the awkwardness when together, the ice between them had eventually begun to break. Official discussions were gradually becoming comfortable and easy-going.
While examining the land cautiously, Anandi caught Shiv pressing his temples. She noticed that the back and armpits of his shirt had completely soaked in sweat and he appeared exhausted due to heat. Knowing his body was not yet accustomed to Jetsar's extreme heat and he might make himself ill if he continued to stay under the sun even for a few more minutes, Anandi moved closer to him.
"Shiv thodi der chayen mein baith jaiye…warna tabiyat kharab ho jayegi" Anandi asserted from the back seeing him completely oblivious to his state. "Bas thodi der anandi…thoda sa kaam hi bacha hai" he answered casually without looking back at her, engrossed in his file. "Shiv..!" Anandi exclaimed louder this time bringing him back to her."Aapki ye zid mere saath nahin chalne wali. Chup chaap wahan chal kar baith jaiye" Anandi chided while directing him towards a wooden bench under the shade of a large banyan tree. Shiv looked at Anandi in awe hiding a shy smile. He simply adored the way she scolded him with complete haq whenever he didn't take care of himself.
"Ab muskura kyun rahe hain…aap wahan chalkar baithiye main abhi aati hoon" Anandi ordered Shiv and left towards the market leaving him amazed at his fiance-cum-kg teacher. Shiv smiled slyly to himself as all the moments he had spent with Anandi replayed in his mind. Their relationship was slowly becoming more and more insightful and deep. Though there wasn't love from both sides, but surely there was trust, faith and commitment. There was purity that ran deep. Shiv sighed and blushed as all these thoughts flooded his mind and warmed his heart.
"Ye leejiye" Anandi's voice suddenly broke Shiv's chain of thoughts. She had brought something for him in a small plate made up of dried leaves. It was covered with another plate of the same kind.
"Ye kya hai Anandi?" Shiv enquired excitedly tempted by a very familiar kind of an aroma.
"Kuch meetha kha lenge to ekdum se asar hoga…sari thakan door ho jayegi" Anandi advised Shiv uncovering the plate.
Shiv smiled seeing what Anandi had brought for him - Her favorite jalebi 😳
"Jaldi se kha leejiye…nahin to zyaada bechaini mehsoos hogi'
Totally unaware of what Anandi was aying to him…Shiv looked at her with an unmatched fondness in his eyes.
"Khaiye na" Anandi stated seeing Shiv being so thoughtful about eating jalebis.
"Pehle tum khao" Shiv ordered without breaking eye contact.
"Nahin Shiv maine thodi der pehle hi nashta kiya tha…mujhe bilkul bhook nahin hai. Aap kha leejiye…aur waise bhi mujhe bheem singh ne bataya ki aapne aaj subah extra exercise ki aur breakfast bhi skip kar diya. Aapko iski zyaada zaroorat hai"
"theek hai tum nahin khaogi to main bhi nahin khaunga"
"Shiv aap aise bachon ki tarah har baat pe zidd kyun karte hain?Pls isse kha leejiye warna bp low ho jayega"
"Main zidd nahin kar raha Anandi…I promise pehle tum khao..phir main pakaa kha lunga"
"Shiv mujhe jalebi pasand nahin hai"
"Theek hai phir main bhi nahin kha sakta"
"Yeh kaisi zidd hai Shiv?"
"Arey baba zidd nahin hai ye…main chahun bhi to nahin kha sakta"
"Par kyun?"
"Kyunki…"
"Kyunki?"
"Kyunki…?"🤔
"Boliye Shiv..."
"Kyunki …maine khud se vaada kiya tha ki abse jalebi tumhare saath hi khaunga. To phir main tumhare bina kaise kha sakta hoon?"
Anandi's heart skipped a few beats hearing his words. There was nothing so romantic or very passionate about it but he had said with such awe in his eyes that Anandi for a few seconds lost herself into their depth. Whether she accepted it or not but Shiv had certainly started affecting her a lot.😳
"Tum khaogi na?" Shiv sighed with a stirring passion in his voice that sent chills down her spine. She looked down at the jalebis and then at the sparkle in his eyes.She found herself strggling for words to deny. "Aapse koi nahin jeet sakta Shiv" a li'l smile had begun to touch the corner of her lips. She took one small piece from the plate and put it into her mouth, making him stare at her with an unparalled happiness in his eyes.
"Ab to khayenge na?" Anandi asked with a shy smile on her lips.
"Zaroor" Shiv smiled and took one jalebi from the plate.
"Ummm…sach kahoon Anandi itni achchi jalebi maine aaj tak nahin khayi"
Anandi smiled and almost giggled seeing him relish the jalebi like a kid.
"Tum hans rahi ho?Beleive me Anandi…maine itni mitthi jalebi aaj tak kabhi nahin khayi…ya phir aisa bhi kah sakte hain ki aaj tak jalebi ke mithas ka kabhi is tarah ehsaas hi nahin hua"
Anandi stared at him as he said those words and for a few passing seconds they lost themselves into a passionate eye lock .A few moments passed like that when suddenly Anandi shook back to her senses and looked away feeling embarrassed while Shiv's cheeks turned a shade of red.☺️
Peaceful silence descended on them as they savored the jalebis quietly. It was only after a few minutes that Anandi's voice broke the silence of the place.
"Kitni door aa gayi hoon main"Anandi sighed looking far towards the market.
Shiv looked at Anandi; a little surprised.
"Anandi?"
"Zindagi kitni ajeeb hoti hai na Shiv…hum ek samay jahan se apna safar shuru karte hain woh humein phir wahinwapas le aati hai. Hum apni manzil se kitna bhi door bhagen par woh hum tak pahunch hi jati hai"
"Main kuch samjha nahin Anandi"
"Woh jalebi ki dukaan dekh rahen hain aap…kai saal pehle isi dukan se maine ek din jalebi kharidi thi. Bahut choti thi tab main. Bachpan se hi mujhe jalebi bahut pasand thi. Jaise hi bhaijee ko jalebi banate hue dekha to raha hi na gaya aur jhat se khareed layi. Par tabhi maine dekha ki ek choti si ladki…bilkul meri umar ki…mujhe udaas hokar dekh rahi hai. Mujhe laga ki shayad use bhi jalebi pasand hai.Usse jalebi dene chali aayi par usne lene se inkaar kar diya. Kyunki woh ek bal vidhwah thi.Jalebi khane ki ijjazat nahin thi usse" a tear escaped anandi's eye as she unfolded a little secret of her excruciating childhood in front of Shiv.
"Phir..?"
"Usne bahut mana kiya.Baar bar kaha ki main jalebi nahin kha sakti.Par shayad mujhe uski naa ka karan samajh hi nahin aaya. Samamjh aaya to sirf uski awaaz mein chupa woh dard…uski aankhon mein dabbe aansun. Aur isiliye maine zabardasti use jalebikhane ko majboor kar diya"
"Aur uske baad..?"
"Uske baad!...Uske baad wohi hua jo hota aaya hai…gaon walon ne…asha ke pariwar walon ne…sabne bahut gussa kiya mujhpar.Yahan tak ki bapusa, ma, dadisa sabko bata diya. Sabko khilaaf kar diya mere…sabki daant…sabka gussa saha…itna gussa ki mujhe bukhar aa gaya. Par phir bhi itna kuch hone ke baad bhi apne mann ko samjha na payi. Kitni ajeeb baat hai na Shiv…us din badhaya ek chota sa kadam…aaj mujhe yahan le aaya hai. Kisi ke liye dosti ki bhavna se kiya ek choota sa kaam aaj merii pehchan…meri manzil ban gaya hai.Kisi ladki ko kabhi bhi bal vivah aur uske dushparinaam ka shikar na hone pade…mano bas yehi meri zindagi ka maksat ban gaya. Us din bhi main samaj se ek ladki ke haq ke liye ladi thi aur aaj bhi ladti hoon.Bas faraq sirf itna hai ki tab woh keval mere mann ki awaaz thi…par ab mere jeene ki wajah…mere jeevan ka maksatho gayi hai. Aaj khud ko dekhti hoon to ehsaas hota hai ki shayad meri kismat mein bal vivah ki peeda isiliye likhi thi taki main uske dard ko smamjh kar kuch aur ladkiyon ke jeevan se iss dard ko door kar paun…nkuch aur ladkiyon ko Anandi aur Asha ban ne se rok paun"Anandi sais wiping a few silent tears from the corner of her eyes.
Shiv tried to absorb every word Anandi spoke to him. There was so much depth and compassion in those words. He had never seen a girl of Anandi's age being so mature and reflective. Agony of life and the tragic turns of destiny had surely taken a toll on her innocence.
"Pata hai Anandi tumhari yehi baat mujhe sabse zyaada pasand hai"
"kya..?main samjhi nahin..?
"U know Anandi iss duniya mein jahan charon aur tumhein aise log dekhne ko milenge jo apni khushi ke liye dusron ko dukh dene ko taiyaar hain par koi ek aisa jo dusron ko khushi dene ke liye khud ko milne wali raqleeef ke bare mein ek baar bhi na soche…aisa koi ek hi hota hai. Aur meri nazron se dekho anandi..toh woh ek special insaan tum ho. Pata hai Anandi ma hamesha kehti hain…bhagwan humein wohi dete hain jo hum us se maangte hain…lekin jo un se kuch nahin mangta use woh apna sabse special tohfa deta hai.Woh tohfa jo unhein sabse pyaara hota hai. Isliye maine kabhi bhagwan se kuch nahin manga. Aur aaj I feel so happy ki maine aisa kiya…maine maa ki baat mankar kabhi bhagwan se kuch nahin manga.Aur shayad isliye unhone mujhe tumhara saath de diya"
Anandi lost a few breaths shaken by the depth of his words. Nobody had ever said anything so beautiful to her before. Ever. She didn't know what to say and stayed silent, her face hot.☺️
"I am sorry Anandi …I am sorry agar tumhein bura laga to…"
"Nahin Shiv…"Anandi cleared her throat, moisture building up in her eyes. "Bas kabhi kisi ne mujhse aisa kuch nahin kaha jo aaj aapne kaha. Itni gehri baat aapne yun hi kehdi…bas samajh nahin payi ki kya ye mereliye tha"
Shiv smiled at her innocence wiping his hands on his handkerchief.
"Chalen Anandi bahut sara kaam baki hai" Shiv stood up smiling and began to walk away while Anandi still stared at him in disbelief as she saw his back turned to him. After moving a few steps away Shiv turned around and smiled as he saw her glued to her place.
"Maine jo bhi kaha bilkul sach kaha Anandi…tumhara jeevan saathi ban na meri khush kismati hai. Shayad mera ishwar kuch zyaada hi khush hain mujhse….tabhi to mujhe tumhare jaisa jeevan saathi mila hai." Shiv confessed with a heavenly sparkle in his eyes and turned away towards the engineers to complete his work while Anandi gently closed her eyes feeling the warmth of his words kindle her soul.
