Please help guys , as a sarpunch anandi have all the rights to stop such kind of thing and in villages normaly people are afraid by the post of sarpunch more then police but yaha to sab ulta hi hei villagers ne sarpanch ko lock kar diya collecter ke sath mar pitai .

Ivie, hello yaar . Really in rajasthan were child marriages are done on akshaya tritiya or akha teej as it is called I believe , children are married off at a young age . They believe that doing child marriages will give a good harvest for them that year , some belief or culture. And this year when police tried to stop child marriages , villagers beat them like hell and police officers were admitted in hospital. And knowing that police are aware of child marriages happening and will come there to stop it, villagers married off their children at a time before the stipulated day chosen. Read from newspaper. So a girl like anandi even being sarpanch can only do something if she goes against the villagers with full preparation by taking police help in large number.

Anandi does not have jurisdiction in that area plus... there is strength in numbers and all these people were united and against Anandi, hence they locked her up to carry forward their will.

ivie as related to ur post on leaving am just giving u some tips- ur topic is incomplete, and does not match what u have actually written inside. i guess ur saying how can a sarpanch be weak? if the topic captures the attention then surely u will get comments

now coming to ur points:

only two ppl locked her in as they dnt want her to stop the proceeding
she has no jurisdiction here she is just another larki
she is respected but not feared maybe coz of the age n gender?
sometimes the attachment to traditions is so strong that the change is resisted even if it comes form high position

totaly agre with lee... now see, what i think is shiv will join ahnds wiht anandi and now villegers will fear anandi because now support of male is their...so now taking such step will be feared a little and no. will decrease for shure

Villages people still believe in muscle power...they strongly oppose any thing which they believe is against their tradition.

Child marriage is deeply ingrained in Rajasthan...they think its against their culture to keep an unmarried girl till adulthood.

Basically they do not want to change...NGOs and police have hard time stopping child marriage.

They wont hesitate from killing to continue doing child marriage.

In Jyoti's case her groom's familly seemed like goons and they were badly drunk...

Anandi was not their village sarpanch she was just another girl for them hence they attacked her.

They can even beat up the police force in the heat of the moment.

ive uttaran forum ek member ne topic post kiya pur koi reply nahi aaya to tm ko bahut gussa aaya usne kaha " no reply but i will continue when damini will come to know veer has married another woman amla damini will have heart attack" jaise hi yeh padha ki damini ko heart attack aa jayega waise hi reply aane shuru ho gaye nahi nahi damini ko heart attack nahi aa sakta
