An eerie silence filled the air of Shiv's office as Anandi stepped in. No one could be seen anywhere on any desk. Anandi felt irritated. It was so obvious that tonight the office would have been empty. It was Akha teej after all. But dadisa and her stubbornness! Who can win in front of her tenacity! She wanted Anandi to take sweets and food for Shiv on Akha teej and no one could move her from her resolve, well as usual. And hence Anandi had to come here, to Shiv's office which appeared like a desolate desert at the moment. Anandi goes to Shiv's cabin but doesn't find him there. She thinks that Shiv might have left the office. Finding no one in the office she decides to leave. As she is going out she hears a door opening behind her back. It's Shiv coming out from the pantry. Shiv is surprised to see Anandi in his office at such time.
Sh: aap yahan? Is waqt?
Anandi doesn't understand what to say. She feels too embarrassed to speak anything. The whole office is empty except the two of them. Everything felt heated up.š³ Anandi's heartbeat was rising owing to the awkwardness of the moment. What will shiv think of her and her desperation? the thought struck her mind time and again. Finally she gathers some words and starts the uncomfortable conversation.
A: woh aaj akha teej hai naā¦isiliye dadisa ne aapke liye prasad bheja hai.
As soon as Shiv hears that dadisa has sent him food a smile lits up his face but almost immediately he controls it to maintain his stern look.
Sh(trying to make a disinterested face): par dadiji ko itni taqleef karne ki kya zaroorat thi!Waise bhi main lunch kar chukka hoon. Mujhe koi itni khaas bhook nahin hai.
Anandi couldn't believe the limit of his attitude and sternness. She decided to turn the tables over him.
A:Acha!To theek h agar aap ko nahin khana to main wapas le jati hoon. Ghar pe to aaj mahman aate jaate hi rahenge.Aap nahin khayenge to koi aur kha lega.Yahan padha rahega to kharab ho jayega aur humare jaitser mein koi bhi khane ka apmaan nahin karta.To acha hoga ki main ye dabba wapaps hi le jati hoon.
Sh(almost in an instant):Wapas kyun!! Nahin I mean dadiji ne itne pyaar se bheja hai aur agar maine wapas bhej diya to unhein bura lagega na. Aur main unka dil nahin dukhana chahta.aap ye dabba mujhe de dijiye main fridge mein rakh doonga aur subah bheem singh se garam karwa kar kha lunga.
Anandi smiled within seeing him melt but tried to keep a straight face.
A; Ab agar aap itna kah rhe hain to theek hai rakh lejiye.
Shiv quickly takes the food from Anandi.
Sh:meri taraf se dadiji ko thnx kah dijiyega.

A:Par aaj akha teej ke din bhi aap itni der tak office mein hain? aapko tyohar manana bhi pasand nahin kya?
Sh:aapko yehi lagta hai na ki main hamesha isi tarah sadu aur akdu rahta hoon aur mujhe theek se muskurana bhi nahin aata.Aur teek tyohar ke din bhi main bas office mein kam karne ke alwa aur kuch nahin karta.
A:Ab maine to aisa kuch bhi nahin kahaā¦aap khud hi kah rahe hain apne bare mein.
Shiv was taken aback by anandi's clear-cut attitude. He never thought that a girl as young as her and that too from such a small town could be this confident and headstrong in front of him. But unlike other guys, Anandi's confidence and pride didn't hurt his ego. Rather he felt himself getting impressed by this trait of hers. She indeed was an exemplary figure for all village girls.
Sh:Aisi koi baat nahin hai Anandi ji. Main itni der tak yahan isliye hoon kyunki mere ghar pe mera koi intezar nahin kar raha.Mere ghar pe koi mahman nahin aane wale aur koi mere liye meethaiyan nahin bana raha.Mera poora parivaar Udaipur mein hai.Yahan koi nahin hai jo mera intezar kare.Aur isliye mera office mein hona ya ghar mein hona ek hi baat hai.
For the first time Anandi could see a sense of vulnerability dawning upon Shiv. He looked a little lost . It was obvious he was missing his family. Anandi felt good seeing that even a stern person like him could soften for his family. This indeed showed that within his hard exterior lied a small kid longing for some love and care. There was no doubt he had been away from his family for a long time.His job afterall was the kind to give him minimum time for his family.Seeing him low Anandi thought of inviting him to their place. Afterall he had come to jaitser for their benefit only.He had left his family for fulfilling his responsibility as collector of jaitser.So it was Jaitser's responsibility to make him feel at home.And ofcourse dadisa would be overwhelmed seeing him.
A:Agar aap chahen to aap mere saath ghar chal sakte hain. Dadisa ko bahut achcha lagega.
Sh:Nahin uski koi zaroorat nahin hai.Main akela hi theek hoon.
A:Aap ye mat sochiye ki main aapse chalne ko isliye kah rahi hoon kyunki aap akele hain.Aur aapka parivar aapke saath nahin hai.Aap itne bade collector hain.Saalon se shayad apne parivaar se alag hi rahte honge. Ab tak to aapko akele rehne ki aadat ho gayi hogi.Lekin kabhi kabhi aadat se hat kar kaam karne me alag si Khushi milti hai.Agar aap challenge to aapko acha lagegea.Aur aapko ye bhi dekhne ka mauka mil jayega ki jaitser ke log kaise mil julkar teej tyohar manate hain. Aur waise bhi dadisa to pehle se hi chahti thi ki aap ghar par aayen lekin maine hi mana kar diya kyunki aaj nahar wale project ko final karne ka aakhri din tha. Mujhe laga ki aap bahut busy honge.
Shiv began to thaw hearing Anandi's words. Somewhere, unknowingly though, he too didn't want to be left alone tonight. Thus it didn't took Anandi too much to persuade him to come along.
Sh: theek haiā¦aap chaliye main jeep ki chabi le kar aata hoon.
Anandi nodded and moved outside. Shiv asked the guard to lock the office. Shiv told him that there was no need to sit their whole night and he should go home as it was festival, forcing Anandi to look back with surprise.
Now Shiv and Anandi were walking towards the jeep that was parked a bit far. They were all alone at the place which was wrapped in total silence. They couldn't hear any sounds except the sound of their shallow footsteps and each other's rhythmic heartbeats.
A:ek baat kahoon aapseā¦bura to nahin manengeā¦
Sh: Ab ye to aapki baat pe depend karta hai.
A:aap jitney akduā¦jitney sakht dikhte hain utne shayad hain nahin.To phir khud ko aise kyun dikhate hain?Kyun aise dikhate hain ki aapko kisi ki taqleefā¦kisi ki bhawnaon se koi farak nahin padhta.Jabki aapko padhta hai.
Sh(first looks at Anandi for a few seconds and speaks after a pause):Main kuch bhi dikhata nahin hoon Anandi ji.Main yahan ka collector hoon.Agar main sabse, khaskar un logon se jo mere saath kaam karte hain, doston ki tarah baat karne lagun to shayad mere aur unke beech mein jo professional relation hai woh khatam ho jayega. Aur theek se kaam karne ke liye ye bahut zaroori hai ki aap professional ki tarah rahein.Ab dekhiye na agar main bina aapke contractors ko dekhe heth singh ke contractor ko kaam de deta to use lagta ki usne mujhe influence kar liya aur age chalkar woh mujhse koi bhi kaam nikalwa lega. Par aisa nahin hai.Main kisi ke saath itni dosti nahin karta ki wo mere kaam aur sahi galat ki samajh ke beech mein aaye. isliye jo log mere saath kaam karte hain main unse ek had tak hi rishta rakhna pasand karta hoon.
Anandi heard each of his words with rapt attention trying to absord whatever she heard.It was so much reflective and suggestive about his personality and ethics.
A:main aapki soch ko galat to nahin kah rahiā¦lekin han bas itna kahna chahungi ki agar kuch niyamā¦kuch kanoonā¦kabhi kabhi tod diye jayein to usmein koi burai bhi nahin hai.Kabhi kabhi apne saath kaam karne wale logo mein hi ek sacha dostā¦ek sacha saathi mil jata hai.Jaise mujhe meri dost ghuli mein mila.Han shayad apne ssath kam karne wale logon par anushasan banakar rakhna bhi zaroori hai lekin unse pyaar se baat karna meinā¦kabhi kabhi unki nayi soch ko mauka dene mein koi harz nahin hai.
Saying so Anandi moved ahead and sat into his jeep. Shiv was floored by her self-confidence. Its not that she seemed any extra intelligent or something but her independent and strong point of view and the fearlessness with which she put it in front of him was something that really affected Shiv's pov abt her.š³š³
After a moment of pause Shiv too walked towards the jeep. He sat in the driver's seat and turned the ignition on. Now both of them were driving towards the haveli when suddenly they come across a strange type of huge celebration on their way. Shiv halted the jeep on the venue and both of them decided to figure out what was happeining. A few gaurds with heavy built who looked more like some goons were roaming at the entrance with guns. As Anandi and Shiv tried to enter the venue the gaurds stopped them.
Guard1:Kaun ho tum dono?Ander kaise ghus aaye?
Sh(angrily):Kya ho raha hai yahan par?
Gaurd2:Pehle tu ye bata ki tu hai kaun? Kahin koi neta weta to nahin!!(All the gaurds started making fun of him).
Sh:Main yahan ka collector hoon!
Gaurd1:Tu chahe collector ho ya Prime Ministerā¦Heth Singh ji ki marzi ke bina is jalse mein koi na hi aa sakta hai aur na hi jaa sakta hai! Aur unhone to humein kisi collector ke aane ki khabar na di.
"Heth Singh??" Shiv was confused with what all that gaurd said.He couldn't understand what he meant.
A:Agar ye jalsa heth singh ne rakhwaya hai to phir to zaroor yahan koi na koi galat kaam ho raha hoga! Ab to mujhe dekhna hi hoga ki yahan aakhir ho kya raha hai.
Anandi tried to push that guard to enter inside.He held her arm and twisted it making her wince in pain. Within a spur of the moment Shiv caught him by neck and began to hit him. His eyes became red with rage. Within seconds all other gaurds surrounded Shiv and began to fight with him. Anandi saw all this in sheer surprise. Nobody had ever fought for her like that. For the first time her heart felt something for Shiv. After years someone had been affected by her pain. After years she felt as ifā¦as if she was not alone! As if someone had come to protect her.
Within a few minutes Shiv could overpower all the gaurds. He didn't even give any1 a chance to use their guns. But in the process he too hurt himself and was bleeding

Sh:Main theek hoonā¦chaliye andar chalte hain.
Both Anandi and Shiv go inside and they are left shocked. A mass wedding of a dozen of young girls was being done. Within a second Shiv ordered to stop all the ceremonies.
Sh:Ye sab kya ho raha hai yahan? Kisne ijazat di aap sabko ye karne ki?
No one spoke anything.
Sh:Ab sabki bolti kyun band ho gayi!!Sharam nahin aati ek gair kanooni kaam karte hue aur aapne hi haathon se apne bachon ki zindagi kharab karte hue!Agar aap logon ne khud nahin bataya to yahan par jitney bhi bachon ki shaadi hone wali thi un sabke parivaar walon ko jail mein daal diya jayega.
Everyone became very scared and they confessed the truth in front of Shiv. They told him that all this was done under Heth Singh's permission and in return he overtook all their land and also took money from them. Shiv was shocked to hear all this. Now he realized why Anandi always advised him not to believe Heth Singh. He looked into her eyes. A sense of apology dawned upon him. Anandi could read that in his eyes.
A:Aap log ye jo bhi kar rahe hain kabhi ye mat sochiye ga ki aapne apne bachon ke liye kuch achcha kiya hai ya aap unhein ek achcha bhawishya de rahe hain.Balki aap unka bhawishya bigaad rahe hain.Unki zindagi ko khud barbaad kar rahe hain.Padne likhne aur befikar khelne koodne ke dino mein unhein shaadi jaise bandhan mein bandhkar aap unse unka bachpan cheen rahe hain!Kya isi din ke liye aapne unhein badha kiya tha!ya isiliye unke paida hone par poore gaun mein ladoo batwaye theā¦ki ek din unhein khood hi kuen mein dhakel de.
One of the villager: Aisi baat nahin hai sarpanch betiyaā¦hum bhi chahte hain ki ye padhe likhen aura age badhe.Lekin uska kya faayeda.Yahan gaon mein to sirf kuch hi school hain.Aur woh bhi sirf prathmic shiksha ke liye.6-7 saal padhai mein barbaad karne ke baad bhi kya mil jayega inhein??Itni si padhai mein na inko koi shahar mein naukri dega aur kyunki sara samay padhai mein barbaad kar denge to kheti bhi nahin kar paenge.Phir kya fayeda aisi shiksha ka? To sahi to yehi hai na ki inka byah karwah diya jaye.Jab zimmedari aayegi to khud aatmnirbhar ban jayenge.
A:Dekhiye mai manti hoon ki abhi jaitser mein utni taraki nahin hui ki yahan ke sab bachon ko unchi shiksha mil sake lekin aap log ye kyun nahin samamjhte ki kisi bhi gaonā¦kisi bhi zile mein badlaav dheere dheere hi aata hai.Sarkaar nirantar koshish kar rahi hai yahaan zyaada se zyaade school aur college banwane ki.Aur agar jaitser mein nahin to aap apne bachon ko sheher bhej sake hain padhne ke liye.Jitna paisa aap heth singh ko apne bachon ki zindagi barbaad karne ke liye de rahe hainā¦agar uska aadha bhi unki padhai pe kharch Karen to shayad jis garibi aur ashikshta ke changul mein hum fase hainā¦us se bahar aane mein hume zyaada samay nahin lagega.Par aap log to koshish hi nahin karna chahte.Bas kuch puranie reeti riwzon ke liye apne bachon ko bali chadhate aaye hainā¦aura age bhi chadhate rahenge!
Everyone on the place was ashamed hearing Anandi's words.Shiv looked at her in sheer dismay!A village girl with just some basic education had the ability to persuade a lot of stubborn orthodox people. Certainly Anandi had something in herā¦a power that was so fierce that could bring revolutions. This time Shiv was utterly impressed.
Sh:Abhi abhi Anandi ji ne jo bhi kaha bilkul sahi kaha.Aur agar aaj ke baad jaitser mein mujhe kisi bhi bal vivah ke kisse ka pata chala to un bachon ke mata-pita ko jail mein daal diya jayega aur unpar sakht se sakht karwahi hogi.Jo bhi paisa aur zameen aap logon se het singh ne liya hai woh aap sabko ek mahine ke ander ander wapas kar diya jayega. Aur aage se kisi ne bhi agar heth singh ya uske jaise kisi bhi dalal ko rishwat di to uspar kanooni karwahi ki jayegi.Aur kyunki ab jaitser jila ban gaya hai main rajasthan sarkar ke saamne yahan aur school aur college banwane ka prastav rakhoonga aur ye bhi dhyaan rakhoonga ki us prastav par sirf kagazon mein hi nahin balki haqeeqat mein bhi kaam kiya jaye.
After this everyone started hooting for Shiv and Anandi. Both of them looked at each other and smiled. It was the first battle they had won together!
A:Aapko kafi chot lagi haiā¦aapko hospital jana chahiye.
Sh:Uski koi zaroorat nahin hai Anandi jiā¦main theek hoon.Thodi si chot hai main ghar jake dawai laga loonga.
A:aapne kya kasam khayi hai ki hamesha meri baat katenge!
Shiv smiled hearing her words.
Sh:aisi koi baat nahin hai.Main to bas isliye kah raha tha ki choti si chot hai aur waise bhi mujhe nahin pata ki jaitser ka hospital kahan hai.
A:To kya hua main hoon na aapke saath.Main le chalti hoon aapko hospital.
Sh:Bahut der ho gayi hai Anandi jiā¦I think aapko ghar jana chahiye.Sab aapka intezaar kar rahe honge.Main theek hoon aap meri chinta mat keejiye.
A:Balki aap meri chinta mat kijiye. Maine ghar pe phone kar ke sab kuch bata diya hai.
Shiv knew that there was no escape now. He had to give in and go to the hospital.
At Hospital:
The doctor dressed Shiv's wounds and asked the nurse to give him a tetanus injection. As the nurse prepared the injection Anandi noticed the worried look on Shiv's face. She giggled inside seeing his fear. She couldn't believe that a strong and fit person like him feared a small needle.
A:(in a teasing tone)Kya hua shvraj ji?š
Sh:muhe?nahin kuch bhi to nahin!
A:acha?
Sh:(giving in to her):aap ek bhi mauka nahin chodti na mujhe tang karne ka!
A(smiling):har mauka to nahin lekin han itna acha mauka chodne ka bilkul man nahin hai.Waise I cant believe aapko itni choti si sui se dar lagta hai!
Sh:aisa kuch bhi nahin hai.
A:acha!to phir aapke chehre par ye barah kyun baje hain!
Sh:Pls aisa kuch bhi nahin haiā¦woh to bas main thoda sa thak gaya hoon isliye.
A:Oh acha!To matlab aapko bilkul dar nahin lag rahaā¦
Sh:Nahin..
A:chalo achchi baat hai.Par phir bhi aapki jaankari ke liye main bata deti hoon ki injection lagwate hue agar aap sui ki tarf dekhne ki jagah kahin aur dekhenge aur kuch aur sochengeā¦kisi achi cheez ke bare mein..to dard ka pata bhi nahin chalega.
Shiv looked at her in awe. š She was smiling at his childishness and he was mesmerized by her smile. She sorta made him smitten with the beauty of her thoughts.ā¤ļø
"Sir its done" the nurse declared. Shiv was left stunned to realize that he didn't even come to know when the needle pricked him.Now anandi's back was facing him.
"Thnx Anandi" Shiv said with a sigh.
Shiv's tone made a wave of current pass down Anandi's spine.There was so much passion in his voice.Anandi had begun to become breathless.š³
A:thnx kisliye?Maine to aapko wohi idea diya jo main nandu ko deti hoon jab woh injection se dar jata hai.
Sh:Main injection ki nahin...us sab ki baat kar raha hoon jo aaj gaon mein hua.Agar aap na hoti to main shayad situation ko itne achche se kabhi handle na kar pata.
A:ismein thnku ki koi baat nahin haiā¦aur mujhe yahan aapki madat ke liye hi rakha haiā¦taki main apne gaon aur yahan ki samsyaon se aapko wakif kara sakon.Aur jaitser ko ek acha aur unaat zila banana ki taraf ye humari pehli jeet thi.
A smile spread across shiv's lips hearing her words.
Sh:Anandi ji aapne shayad sahi kaha tha.Kabhi kabhi apne saath kaam karne walon mein hi humein ek sacha dost aur saathi mil jata hai.Aaj mujhe bhi kuch aisa hi lag raha hai.
Anandi's heart skipped a beat as he said those words. For a few seconds they lost themselves in an eyelock. After a pause Shiv extended his hand towards Anandi, a sweet smile gleaming on his lips.
"FRIENDS?"
Anandi looked at his hand. And then at the sparkle in his eyes. For the first time she didn't want to give it a second thought. She lifted her hand and interlocked it into his friendship.
