I wonder if Gauri could honestly not know for five long years that J was married?
Or did she know ... and choose to ignore it?
I mean i have lived in a hostel - and even though it was a working womens hostel - and nobody was romantically involved ...we all knew things about each other's families. We saw photographs, people's parents came to visit etc. they sent parcels.
Would Gauri never once have asked to see photographs or something? Did Jagya's parents never once come to visit Mumbai to see the college or to meet Jagya?

This might have been because he looked so modern, and she probably assumed that since his family has sent him to be a doctor -- rather than handle the family business -- or manage land and property (the way bhairon and basant do) ... she may have assumed that this is because the family is also 'modern'.

Lal singh's family also sent him to be a doctor and he was already married..infact its common culture in Rajasthan...Guys usually marry early there and then keep on studying so tht dosent mean his family was also modern.
