Anjum Farookhi aka Gauri of Balika Vadhu on Colors has been receiving flak for creating trouble in the Anandi-Jagya marriage. When we questioned Anjum, she retorted that Gauri and Jagat are not as bad as they are made out to be.
However, Anjum adds that the track shows the negative aspects of child marriage, which is the theme of the show. Anjum elaborates, "Jagat's family got him married when he was just eight years old. He did not get the opportunity to choose to be with the woman he loves. Now he is in his teens and it is natural to fall in love at this age. He did not announce his marriage to the world because he was embarrassed to do so. He also was humiliated earlier due to his background. He tried to stop himself from falling in love with me but eventually gave in."
Speaking about the reactions she has received Anjum insists, "Fans of the show were upset that I created a wedge between Jagat and Anandi but not all reactions have been negative. I have been getting some good feedback for my performance too."
Anjum loves playing the role of Gauri which is evident when she continues, "The best thing about Gauri is that even though she belongs to a small town, she is ambitious and independent. She has had a bad experience in the past but is still standing strong and pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor."
As for the future track of Balika Vadhu, the actress says, "As you have seen Jagat proposed to me and now both of us have returned home. We are terribly missing each other. Soon there will be a three year leap and the audience can watch out for the interesting storyline thereon."
Watch Balika Vadhu to find out what new twist the Anandi-Jagya-Gauri love story takes.
