Emotional manipulation

Unlike earlier instances, where dadisa actually saw merit in badi maasiji's suggestions, i got a feeling that this time badi masiji has used pure emotional manipulation to get her suggestion accepted....dadisa is still not shown too happy about it.....
Well, not a very ethical way of getting things done...but one dadisaa deserves it...as she uses manipulation on her children and second, badi maasiji used it for a noble (and not selfish) purpose. Any comments?

yes this time badi masiji blackmailed kalyani into agreeing to send suguna to school. but im glad she decided to leave the house asap. if basant or bhairon would have done that dadisa would have been quiet a different person.
dadisa hasnt agreed to suguna's studying by heart just like she didnt in anandi's case but she will come around as she truly loves suguna.

Frankly, I didn't like the way Badi Maasi blackmailed Maasa. By doing that, she is no different than Maasa. Even in Gehna's case, Maasa only grudgingly accepted to let her learn music. The result is there for everyone to see. While the rest of the family is happy, Maasa was very upset when Gehna was learning music.

Same thing with Suguna. So far, whatever Maasa has agreed to was because she herself realised that it needed to be done. By forcing Maasa to blindly agree to what is being said, she doesn't fully comprehend why its important and only causes her to be more bitter.

Emotional blackmail..no matter how great the cause, is never a good thing, cause the person never agrees whole heartedly

I feel at this juncture this kind of manipulation was needed. Because Dadisa is getting irritated by the changes Badi Maasi is bringing along with her. And now its come to a point where Dadisa realizes that anything Badi maasi says is to get her to agree to change something about the rules she has set forth.. so she is extra resistant to the things Badi Maasi says to her. Earlier when she didn't feel so antagonized she was more flexible and listened to badi maasi's logics. But now Dadisa is back to being her stubborn self and the things she said to Badi maasi were an exact example of the kind of manipulation she does. What she said was deliberate effort to get Badi maasi to stop her acts of trying to bring changes in the house. She hurt Badi maasi with full knowledge that if she brings it up.. especially in front of the children, badi maasi will shut up due to embarrassment and secondly the kids will not look up to badi maasi like they did because she's pointing out the failures of Badi Maasi's tactics on living life.
However, Badi maasi who knows Dadisa the best turned the tables on her. lolz. I found it very entertaining. Instead of being hurt and sad (tho she was truely) Badi maasi used the opportunity to her advantage to get Dadisa to do what she thought was the right thing for Sugna. Badi Maasi is smart and uses her brain wisely.

I have been pleased with the changes Badi Maasiji has brought about in the household but I dont know whether I can say the same for the method(s) she is using.....IMO , all the changes she's brought about , albeit positive , havent been the result of her changing any of Kalyani's views/opinions/mindset , and thats what really needs to be changed !

For example , Maa-saa's agreeing to let Gehna learn music , that didnt come out of Maa-saa's thinking that the women of her household need more respect and privileges , it was the result of everyone's persuasion , particularly Basant...Ditto for letting Sugna study , Kalyani's agreed to that mainly to bring Badi Maasi back but nothing has actually changed in the way she thinks and hence treats widows .

Exactly Shreya,

That's why I feel that forcing Maasa to just agree to everything is not the best solution. Her mindset has not changed at all, so in the end, she will still treat Gehna and Sumitra like dirt, she will still compare Anandi and Jagya, she will still insult her in-laws...Same old Maasa

i agree completely with JC here and hima here. initially maasa was more open to masi's ideas. but she had started turning hostile esp after she convinced the family esp basant into letting gehna learn music. so her rudeness with maasi was a deliberate attempt to embarass maasi. but in suguna's case im glad with the result as maasa wont change her decision later on since she loves suguna.
but yes her ideas really havent changed. she's being forced to agree to maasi out of respect for her elder sister and under the persuasion of the rest of the family. only thing she has actually regretted till now is ill-treatment of widows esp phuli and then suguna. so i think she will soon start her old tricks with basant as far as gehna learning music is concerned.

How long should everyone wait till the stubborn old lady changes her views. Im just glad everyone is moving on with their lives for the better. Gehna needs this relief at this point in her life not once she starts running after kids and Sugna would have wasted more imp years of her education. Good way or bad kudos to badi maasiji.. I just hope Dadisa's family learns to stand their ground once they realise how these changes have made their lives happier.
