Only after the gauna, a married couple can indulge in a relationship.. unless it is a child marriage, the gauna and marriage are the same event.. but in child marriages, a girl may not be physically ready to indulge in a relationship..

'Gauna' is basically a bidaai....I guess you can see how all the preparations are being carried on at full steam , so its like a mini-wedding😆 , but , as someone above me has said ,there are no pheres around the fire, and the customs which are performed at an actual wedding.

The thing with child marriages is , a girl who is married off at 8-9 years like Anandi was , cannot have children . Its not possible because at that age she isnt mature enough . So a system like this was developed ,where the child bride stays with her family for a few years even after marriage. When she is mature enough , she is finally sent to her sasuraal and this farewell is the gauna .So what happens , is that a marriage can be consummated only after the gauna .
