Comment please....and long comments too 😉.....I REALLY wanna know what you FELT about today's epi , and whether you agree with what I felt or not ....!!!

Hey everybody....Happy Diwali to you!!!!!

And remember....have a SAFE Diwali!!!!!

Festival of Lights aside , let me get on to one of the lights of our lives ....Balika Vadhu !!!!

Did you like today's episode??? I did.....well I know there is nothing new in that , for I like EVERY BV episode...but today's epi was so great....nice and sad in equal measures for sure!

Firstly , the material things .... my goodness , Anandi has awesome hair.....I noticed it in that episode too when Bhago was plaiting her hair and today I was looking at how it bounced about when the school-going Anand came running to the gate..... but I dont whether I can say the same about Maa-saa's hair....too wrinkled for my choice!!!! 😆

Today Anandi made me cry again....when she was standing at the gate looking thru' the bars at Jaggu's class ....BV reflects the complete reality of whatever happens in these societies where child marriage is still prevalent , and isnt it sad to think that there must be hundreds of brilliant girls whose brains are lost like this ? Think of what these bright kids would have become....

Today's episode made me think once again : we all moan about school , about how big pain in the neck it is to get up early everyday , to do HW , exams and all that , but what about the other side of the coin? There isnt anything as pathetic as not being able to learn , when you want to , when you can afford it ,simply because you're a beendni ....

In that way , child marriage affects everyone .....yes , the most extensive impact on the girl , for she has to bear the brunt of illiteracy , being separated from her parents at a young age , early motherhood , etc .... but its also impacts all others....

Take the girl's parents for instance : They are separated from their daughter at the very age when she needs a parent's guidance : teenagehood ...

I completely disagree with all those people who say that BV , despite being a good show and all that , isnt making the impact it wanted too.

Detractors say that despite having a strong social message , BV doesnt reach those areas where child marriage is still practiced , because those are 'Doordarshan-only' areas....maybe , but child marriage is common amongst the servant class.....

I know of two-three cases where the household helps of my mom's friends married off their daughters at 15-16....

I read in an article that the maid who works in the house of BV's scriptwriter , promised not to marry off her daughter after seeing the show....Well , thats one life saved , and every little bit counts ....

BV does reach out to those people. It does make a difference.

I think it will to some extent atleast. May not reach every village in Rajasthan, but will certainly impact the loves of household help etc in cities at least.

Well maybe its not directly effecting the major areas where such practices happen...but what of the rest of the world who lives in blissful ignorance of such practices happening in their own country? THe show is aired everyday bringing the reality and the predicament of the situation out for the society that lives in the 21st century's modern lifestyle thinking all this is a thing of the past...conveniently closing their eyes to the happenings of their own back yard...you can't close your eyes anymore when you have it in your face 5 days a week. So maybe not directly but its impact is felt definitely with the rest of India become more aware of the issue and possibly stricter action might be taken in this regard at some point (thats what i am hoping). So impact doesn't always have to happen directly. Like you said...if at least one life is saved....and from that another will be because i am sure the servant who promised not to marry his/her daughter off will also suggest the same to others...

There was once an add in India (donno if it still airs) but it was about promoting education of females in rural areas...said that when you educate a woman...you not only save her but you save her family because as a daughter, wife, and mother she had the ability to influence the attitude of her family the most therefore its important to educate the woman in the family for the family to have a better future. Don't know how true that is but i feel when as a mother a woman sees this show and decides she'll not wed her daughter at a tender age and in turn her daughter learns that attitude from her mother and decides that same...the impact is there.
