The 'Dev and The Kants' bond has been a huge question mark to me for sometime now.

It's clear that Dev considers them as his kin but they definitely don't think too highly of him. Maybe because of his antics/him being jobless. Ok i understand. But, why treat him in such an ill-mannered way?!.

Today's Dev v/s Kants scene would have been a comic relief for all but for me it was very distasteful. Everyone going and eating different delicacies in front of an ever hungry Dev while he begged them to share a piece of it with him was still ok, but Amrish throwing pieces of kachori at him and Dev trying to catch it, was REALLY REALLY bad. I mean comeon!! you could have thought of anyother way to get the truth out of him than throwing pieces of food! If this was from any other member of the Kant family, it would be understandable, But Amrish?!!!.

Also I have noticed, Amrish, who is empathetic towards anyone and everyone isn't the same with Dev.

What's more surprising is the Kants didn't know where and in what conditions/locality Dev lived/lives in?! Dev is Shaan's childhood bestie and they don't care enough to know about him?! Not once in all these years? I felt as if there was a silght dissapproval on Amrish's face when Dev was oh so excitedly describing his locality.

Why such attitued towards the poor guy?

*sigh* i wish someday in future we get to see these very people who keep taunting him and ridiculing him, respect him for the gem of a person that he is!.

Thank you for bringing this up!

I'm also curious as to why Dev is so looked down upon by the entire Kant family, including Amrish. They didn't know anything about him, and he practically grew up with Shaan and Shogata? They still don't know anything about him at all, it seems. Dev is a computer programmer - I know it's been mentioned that some of his devices that he made for Rajni are glitchy, but he did have an important role in making them, right? He's obviously intelligent and clear-headed during times of stress. In front of the Kants, though, he seems like a pushover and he does live up to the moniker of "Bhukkad" that Shogata gave him. I wonder why. He's more assertive when he's alone with Shogata, even...So why can't he stand up for himself in front of all of the Kants?

At face value, the whole thing with the food was meant for laughs...But the more I think about it now, the more awful it seems. Dev should have been treated with some degree of basic respect, out of humanity, even if the Kants are angry that Shogata is married to someone they believe to be below them in status. I thought Amrish and his sons were nicer to Dev before. What happened to that? I suppose Amrish's anger at Shaan is being taken out on Dev right now. And that's not fair. It was demeaning, extremely so.

I absolutely adore Dev and he NEEDS to be vindicated. More than Shaan, Dev needs to show everyone that there's more to him than meets the eye. I really, really hope it happens sooner rather than later. The man is a diamond in the rough, and I hope people can see that and respect him for it!

Very very significant post Vishrutha! And agree with you too Borna!!
I think his existence as comic relief made sense in the earlier parts of the show, when his focus was solely to act clownish to make us love. But you're definitely right that as of now, it's getting too overboard!!

Dev's character has definitely undergone such drastic changes jn the past few weeks. Earlier I couldn't really stand the guy because he was such a clown. But since that episode at the truckyard with Shaan, I've definitely come to love and respect him more...I only wish the Kants did the same!

I am so glad that you brought up the issue of how Amrish has been treating him. Till yesterday I felt that he was the only one who could empathise with the poor soul and treated him kindly. All this time I thought it was because Amrish himself was merely a truck driver, sk he has no arrogance when it comes to people. But yesterday's scenes really overturned that for me :(

I think the problem stems directly from how Shaan treats Dev. When Shaan himself sees his friend as a loser and the biggest headache in his life, it's hard to convince the family he is otherwise. I thought we had gotten past that point with the recent scenes between Shaan and Dev regarding Rajni - but he's still out blaiming Dev for all his problems. I deeply used to suspect if these 2 were actually friends or not!!

Dev has had to suffer a lot of nonsense from the Kant family till now...I hope things turn for him and he gets more respect. Not just because he is married to Shogo but because he is an awesome human being - period!

True! And it has been shown that Dev can stand up against them if he feels what they're doing isn't right. For instance in the scene where Surili wanted Rajni to return asap because Aishwaraya was on a leave, he did voice out his dissapproval. But, he is silenced the very next moment by Surili. Maybe he just keeps quiet and listens to them out of the respect he has for Amrish and Surili?

Yes, they definitely were nicer to him before! I remember Amrish speaking up for Dev when Surili taunts him for something, in one of the initial episode. But, since his marriage with Shogata their attitued towards him has changed! And I thought Amrish wasn't the person who cared for status and stuff like that?!

Yes! And I want to see that so bad!

@bold yes maybe it's all because of how Shaan treats him. The guy has been with Shaan through thick and thin, saving his back, but is never acknowledged. I really hope Shaan realises just how precious he is and what a wonderful friend he has got!.

I feel the writers are a fan of Archie comics.
They wanted to portray Dev as "'Jughead Jones"'
Hungry always.
I agree they wanted to make the scene look comic.
But it turned out quite distasteful,
