Dwelling on the Details: An Impossible Choice

[Episode 81] June 6th, 2016

- "Iss duniya mein har koi robot hai!" Oh, Rajni is brilliant! Matthew asks her if she knows about Shaan's humanoid robot, Rajni nods. And then she says that, basically, everyone is a robot. Wake up in the morning, work or go to school, return to rest and "recharge", and then repeat. #RajniLogic And as usual, her logic is sound!

- Matthew's true intentions are starting to come to the forefront. I'd say that they already are out there, but since I have no idea how far he'll go, I'll just leave it at that. At least now Rajni won't keep trying to get Matthew and Shogata back together, right? She sounds considerably surprised when she asks him, "Shogu nahi?" Even her melodramatic OTT mode isn't enough to sway him. He has "demands." He wants Shaan's robot...and the robot in question misinterprets "demands" to mean "dowry." Matthew deserves that slap and the beating that comes with it! But this is just going to make him more ruthless, which is a problem.

- "Shaan." "Haan." "Kya ek sawaal poonch sakti hoon?" "'Nahi' boloonga, toh nahi poonchogi?" Hah. He knows that she's going to ask him anyway. Cute. "Aap mujhe...Matthew Sir ko de kyun nahi dete? Aapne mujhe unhi ke liye banaaya hai." She pauses a bit while saying these sentences, and I feel like she's almost cautiously posing that question to Shaan. She's not wrong...After all, that was the plan. But Shaan is decidedly not going to consider this possibility now. "Shut up! Kyun doon main tumhe Matthew ko ya kisi aur ko bhi?" A barrage of excuses follows, ending with the claim that she's not ready to be sent anywhere and he's not ready for that, either. "That is wrong, Shaan." Rajni reminds him that he agreed to give her to Matthew...All Shaan can do is stare at her as she speaks. "Toh tum chahti ho ki main tumhe Matthew ko de doon? Tum mujhe chhod ke jaana chahti ho?" "Chahne ka feature mujhme hai hi nahi." Pause for a moment here. She says she can't WANT to do anything because she doesn't have that feature. But she does have her own sense of morality, her own sense of what decisions she could and should take, dictated by logic. Most importantly, I love the play on the multiple meanings of "chahna" especially as they apply to this very unique situation. Technically speaking, Rajni cannot wish for anything or desire or love anything, right? But then...how exactly should we describe her reasons for acting the way she does around Shaan? She has taken on the role of Rajni Kant, wife of Shantanu Kant, with full dedication - she likes spending time alone with him, tries to cheer him up when he's sad, keeps prodding him gently to be more expressive...A lot of what is perceived as "emotional" does have a logical aspect to it, I think. Rajni wants Shaan to be happy...Is that not a wish, a desire? Is that not a manifestation of love?

- Rajni's focus is entirely on Shaan's emotions. His reasons and his motivations are what she tries to bring to his attention...She may not be able to want or wish or love...But Shaan can. Shaan DOES...he just doesn't show it freely. With her questions, Rajni's trying to make him introspect, and I LOVE the way she goes about doing this! "Shaan. Kya...yehi ek reason hai? Ya koi...aur bhi reason hai?" I love ALL the little things about this scene so, so much. I'm only going to list a few. The way they look at each other and the contrast in their expressions. The way Rajni is as composed as ever, with a hint of an ulterior motive beneath that calm exterior. The way Shaan's sarcasm kicks in as he talks back to her, mimicking her body language. He asks her a string of rhetorical questions - the answer he's aiming for is, "No." But we all know, Rajni included, what the real answer is. "Yeh sab main nahi...aap keh rahe hai, Shaan." And Rajni just beat him at his own game. BRILLIANT!

- She trips him up. He can't string together a coherent sentence for a while. When he finally does, he rambles for a bit about not caring about Matthew's agreement and whatnot...then he swerves back off track, probably without even realizing exactly what he's saying. "Mujhe sirf apni Rajni se lena dena hai!" APNI RAJNI. Shaan's Rajni. That admission...the conclusion that Rajni reaches after all this..."You...are in love." And the expression on Rajni's face as Shaan walks away, completely oblivious to what he has just unconsciously revealed to her...That is the brightest I have ever seen her look. Ever.

- Surili is so adorable when she's in a good mood! So there are 3 couples in this show whose banter I really enjoy: Shaan-Rajni, Dev-Shogata, and Amrish-Surili. If we get a few good minutes of screentime for each of these jodis every week, I'll be super happy! I mean, Amrish is over the moon about his truck business and Surili decides to tease him in the way only she can, haha. If she hadn't smiled at him, I would've thought she was genuinely unhappy about being with him for 30 years! Can we see more of Amrish-Surili and happy cross-cultural stuff, please? They're so much fun to watch! And I am totally up for learning more about their love story, too!

- Going to briefly mention the bit where Shaan warns Rajni about the danger in the truck yard, because Rajni's tactic to stop the Kants from leaving the house is pretty funny. Or at least I liked her criticisms about their clothes! Ghyaan Bhaiyya is a "flop ghazal singer," Dhyaan is a "10th standard mein 10 times fail hue student," Mummyji is...not classy enough, I guess. And Bauji "achhe lag rahe hai par sachhe nahi." LOL at Surili's little chuckle and Amrish's "Chup kar!" Rajni is taking teeny tiny steps towards a truce with Surili, which is nice to see! Of course Surili went to change her sari just because everyone else decided to change their clothes. Of course she did. Slow progress is better than no progress. Here's hoping for more of it.

- Shaan/Dev are my non-Kant broTP. These guys are such a riot, and theirs is a pakka friendship. If there's one thing I've realized after that whole scene with Matthew in the truck yard, it's that Dev is probably tougher than everyone thinks he is. He may be highly emotional and forever hungry, but there's more to this guy than meets the eye. He fears for Shaan's life and makes those apprehensions known to his best friend. He realizes that Matthew could use Rajni to wreak havoc instead of helping society...and he instantly eats his own words about handing Rajni over to Matthew. Dev is a friend and brother to both Shaan and Rajni now, he's always been there for them and always will be. He seems like a pushover a lot of the time, but there are moments where a stronger, consequences-be-damned side of Dev can be seen. This is one of them. "Mera dil bolta hai ki Rajni sirf tere liye bani, aur sirf tere saath rehni chahiye! Main tera saath kabhi nahi chhodoonga!" That loyalty is something I really, really appreciate. I'm eagerly waiting to see how his character graph develops from here on out!

This is the hard truth of life presented to us, in Rajni style 😆 How this show comes up with realities of life in such simple yet powerful words still bewilders me. Aren't we all on auto mode? Sigh

Matthew had this comic front ever since we saw that he is linked with Shogota and came up to the house of Kants, even if we saw Matthew the boss in the beginning episodes, it was clear that no matter how angry he was, even after being 'washed' by Rajni in his own office, he kept giving Shaan chances. Which was why I liked his Mr. Bean attitude with Shogu. We knew he wasnt stupid to say the least. He has had his limits tested after the marriage of Dev and shogu. I know this comes in the later episodes but it's really weird how he says he never loved her 😕

- "Shaan." "Haan." "Kya ek sawaal poonch sakti hoon?" "'Nahi' boloonga, toh nahi poonchogi?" Hah. He knows that she's going to ask him anyway. Cute. "Aap mujhe...Matthew Sir ko de kyun nahi dete? This scene is magical. There is a charm that Ridhima and Karan added here. All the little nuances and expressions both showed👏, to describe what could be going behind their mind (Rajni's supposedly logic board)

Shaan has come SO far concerning his feelings, with all the moments they have had to go through. He is not ready to leave HIS Rajni. This scene is so beautiful in general and in all its details

They're so much fun to watch! And I am totally up for learning more about their love story, too!

The taunts, the teasing, the humour with the underlying tone of how much they have gone through in the 30 years, that they have had to somehow fight for their love (we don't really know the story) but as always shown Amrish and his FIL werent in good terms, he managed to win his Bangaalan ❤️ Their love is nothing short of an example, they can be adults and kids together. I love how Surili shows she realised the time span they spent together in such a dramatic way 😆 I love her, she is damn adorable 😆

Of course Surili went to change her sari just because everyone else decided to change their clothes. Of course she did. Slow progress is better than no progress. Here's hoping for more of it.

Word. Don't we say we start reflecting the thought of the people we associate with. Uske Rang main rangna, here they are dressing to Rajni's taste, they actually agreed with rajni's words, the rest would definitely do, but Surili agreeing too that's a start😆

- Shaan/Dev are my non-Kant broTP. These guys are such a riot, and theirs is a pakka friendship. If there's one thing I've realized after that whole scene with Matthew in the truck yard, it's that Dev is probably tougher than everyone thinks he is. He seems like a pushover a lot of the time, but there are moments where a stronger, consequences-be-damned side of Dev can be seen. This is one of them. I'm eagerly waiting to see how his character graph develops from here on out!

I have discussed so much on them, it's so hard to get the right words out again. Neel and Karan👏 I still have the tone memorised in my mind, so so touching, Ah words straight from the heart of Devendra Bangdu ❤️ In all his innocence and silly antics, he still takes my heart away way easier than any so called 'hero' would do.

Thank you for the Review Borna, and for the patience too 🤗

[Episode 82] June 7th, 2016

- Can I just take a moment to appreciate Rajendraji and Pallaviji's expressions and dialogue delivery? They're so unbelievably endearing as Amrish and Surili, I feel like aww-ing at every tiny interaction these two have in a scene!

- Rajni and the "sher." I don't know how Ridhima has SO much control over her facial muscles as well as her vocal cords, but she amazes me more and more with every passing episode! Rajni and her shifty-eyed expressions, the rapid blinks and eyelash-batting, the smugly happy smile at the end...All of it is ADORABLE!

- "Gaye." Cue Surili's lament because she thinks Amrish is gone forever, LOL. "Arrey! Gaadi mein baithe...aur gaye!" Ahaha, Dhyaan is so done with the drama in his family! Pankit's comic dialogues are always gold and I love the way he says them! Perfect amount of sass!

- "Chale gaye? I'm sorry, Shaan." This is what a robot looks like when she is dejected and ashamed of disappointing someone. Rajni thinks she has failed Shaan because she couldn't follow his command and execute it properly. I love how vulnerable Rajni looks and sounds here. Like a child, almost, with that sad pout and downcast gaze. Awww.

- I love love love the friendship that Shaan and Dev share, with its many shades. The truck yard scenes reveal the emotional depth of their bond in a way no other scene has so far. This episode, without a doubt, belongs to Karan and Neel. Kudos to both of them for their performances! They touched my heart!

- Shaan may not have been interested in joining Amrish's business, but that doesn't mean he's not proud of his father and all of the effort that went into keeping such a large company going. This reminded me of the time Rajni told Shaan that his father, who started out as a truck driver, was the one who made his education and profession as a scientist a reality. If Amrish hadn't been so principled and hardworking, who knows where Shaan and the rest of the Kants would have been? Who knows what kind of an upbringing those kids would've had? It's so heartwarming to hear Shaan say that he's lucky to have a father like Amrish Kant. When Shaan begs Matthew not to tarnish Amrish's spotless reputation, a son's desperation and helplessness can be heard in his voice and seen in his eyes. Matthew has caught onto Shaan's weaknesses - his family and his wife...And Shaan has to make an impossible choice.

- "Shaan, main bol raha hoon, iss kameene ne poore game set ki hai! Uncle Ji ko badnaam karna chahta hai yeh!" Dev says this through clenched teeth, indignantly. It's touching that he cares so much for Amrish and is so concerned about his reputation. "Shaan, ek baar padh le, please, main keh raha hoon tereko, tu problem mein aa jaayega, main bol raha hoon tereko!" Clear thinking in a moment of crisis. I was so surprised to see this jhalak of such a trait in Dev, who is usually the first one to melt down and get emotionally worked up about things. But it's fantastic to witness how level-headed he can be. He's already proven to be a tremendously loyal friend. Now I feel like he will prove to be a valuable support to the Kants in more ways than as just Shaan's friend - as a potential son-in-law, perhaps? He's a diamond in the rough. This just makes me even more proud of him.

- Shaan signs the dotted line. Deal final. He turns to look at Dev, who questions him with a wounded, betrayed expression on his face. "Aur kya karta, yaar? Papa ko jail toh nahi jaane de sakta, na? Waise bhi main unke liye kuch karta nahi hoon. Aisa karke at least meri guilt kam ho jaayegi." The way Shaan says this - it's so heartbreaking and heartwarming to see how much he cares for his family, how he feels guilty and accountable for not helping his father in the same way his brothers do. "Aur tu hi keh raha hai, na...ki robot toh main phir se bana loonga. Papa ki izzat chali gayi toh, woh toh nahi aayegi, na?" He's thinking rationally again now, but it hurts. "Rajni ko...jaana padega." He's trying to hold it together, trying to put up a brave front...Unlike Dev, who lets his emotions and despair show openly, Shaan turns and walks away, his expression closing up. He reassures his father that nothing will happen to their reputation, embracing him. "Aapka Shaan aisa hone hi nahi dega. Phir chahe mujhe uske liye koi bhi keemat chukaani pade..." A hug is a way to hide one's face...and that's what Shaan does. Amrish can't see how his son's face falls as those last few words leave his lips...

- The very last shot of Shaan/Dev is so beautifully framed! Shaan, dejected and lifeless, stands watching his father walk away with his head held high...On the surface, Shaan appears impassive, inscrutable...But there is a multitude of thoughts swirling in his mind, emotions he's most likely trying to suppress beneath that exterior. Then Dev walks into the frame, his gaze moving from Amrish to Shaan. He extends a supportive hand towards his best friend, offering stability and silent reassurance. Shaan made the right choice. It was a difficult one...but he did the right thing...Even if he has to pay the price with a piece of his heart.

[Episode 83] June 8th, 2016

- Surili asks Amrish, why the special treatment for Rajni? Rajni shows them why. Because she cares. She cares enough to felicitate this day with an enormous collage depicting Amrish's success as a truck driver and businessman. She cares enough to congratulate him, probably when the other bahus don't even care. I love how Amrish's eyes shine with tears as he looks at his beloved bahu, who is like a beti to him more than anything else. I love how Surili's gaze is one of heartfelt appreciation as she looks from Rajni to the collage to Shaan (she gives him a look as if to say, "Not bad, Shaan, this Rajni of yours!") and then back to Rajni again, before expressing her thanks. I love how Shaan's expressions convey amazement at what is happening before his eyes...and there's that ever-present sadness in his demeanor. "Yeh sab...abhi hi kyun hona tha?" Without him saying much at all, Shaan's growing heartache can be felt...because of the way he says these few words. Bittersweet. That's what this is.

- Oh, Shogata. How many times will Matthew have to snub your attempts at reconciliation before you realize he just doesn't care about you? I really feel quite bad for the girl, in spite of myself...and I have to hand it to her for being persistent since she thinks this whole court marriage thing will be sorted out ASAP. Matthew is definitely deserving of the incomprehensible insults Shogata throws at him. I'm sure he'll deserve even more gaalis in the coming episodes. I find it hilariously adorable that Shogu runs out of curses and manages to flag down Dev to help her out! "You - you...moron...stupid...you...spoiled brat! You - you...You! Bangdu! Come here! Come!" Dev, although perplexed, comes running. So Shogu stumbles over her words when she tries to curse her ex-fiance, but when it comes to Dev, the words flow freely...

- "YOU stupid moron! Yeh sab tumhari wajah se ho raha hai!" "Kya paagal-type ki ladki ho tum! Woh tumko khulla bol raha hai ki woh tumse pyaar nahi karta, phir bhi tum uske pichhu padi ho! Uske naam ki mala jap rahi ho! Hello! Dev ko thank you bolo...ki maine tumhari shaadi uss gadhe, uss paaji, uss joker se nahi hone di!" The newly-married Bangdus and their bickering make my day so much brighter! I absolutely love their bantering and the verbal darts they keep throwing at each other all the time! And this is from a person who has never been much of a fan of relationships where there are constant clashes like this. Dev-Shogata are the exception. Their interactions are scripted with so much wit, and delivered with such spirit by both Neel and Neha. I love the little expressions and gestures that are captured in shots where both of them can be seen in the same frame, face-to-face. They have such a fabulous chemistry that I can't help laughing and shaking my head in fond amusement at their arguments! Shoutout to Dev for rendering Shogu speechless at the end of this scene! I love how he mimics her stammering, and all she can manage in response is an aggravated "F-O!" And he has no clue what that means, LOLLL! These two give me life!

- Shaan's musings...This moment, where he lapses into thought about having to give Rajni up...She means so much to him in so many ways. His creation, his life's work, a physical representation of his intelligence... "'I'm so proud of me!' Kiske liye boloonga yeh sab? Ek machine kisi ko itni khushi kaise de sakti hai? Yeh kisi ne kabhi socha hi nahi hoga." This stood out to me the first time I heard it, and it haunts me still. Rajni is far more than a machine or a "khilona." To call her those things would be degrading, at this point. How curious...she evokes feelings in all of us, such that we have grown so attached to her, just like Shaan has. But imagine, if we're so emotionally attached to Rajni, just how deep does Shaan's attachment go? I can't imagine...and he won't express it, not yet, at least. Every moment they share, a bit more of that bond is revealed...and that is the beauty of their relationship.

- Rajni comes to stand by Shaan's side...She looks up at him...and she reaches up to gently remove a teardrop from his eye. This is my favorite part of this entire scene. It's SO beautiful, that calm curiosity in Rajni's expression. There's an underlying intensity to this moment, although it is presented oh-so-softly, with that lovely background music that I hope we hear much more often in the future..."Aapki aankhon mein aansoon? Kisne rulaaya aapko?" Shaan couldn't meet Rajni's eyes then...and while watching this, I couldn't breathe. It is one of those fleeting moments that will always stay with me, for its quiet poignancy. Very, very beautifully done by Ridhima and Karan!

- "Insaan khushi mein aansoon kyun bahaate hai?" Note that Shaan is answering Rajni in a much softer tone than usual...the impending separation is taking a toll on him already. These are some of the last moments he will have with her in their room. He's so conflicted about his decision and his feelings - and with so much going through his mind, he slips and asks her how she would feel if she had to leave him. "Yeh feature mujhme hai hi nahi. Aapko pata hona chahiye." "Mujhe pata hai. He doesn't respond to her like he used to. There's no more fight left in him.

- Oh, the way Shaan looks at Rajni after telling her that she has to go now...That apprehension on his face! Rajni is only concerned about how Shaan will finally be validated, vindicated, by everyone finding out that she is his creation. This is SUCH a brilliantly-scripted scene! I LOVE that the writers, in this one monologue of Rajni's, bring back everything significant from past episodes regarding Shaan's career, his efforts, and how the people around him perceive him. And that "incomplete love story" is mentioned again...but Shaan is impassive. He doesn't care about any of that. He cares that his Rajni is leaving...He reaches out and holds her, trying to regain his composure.

- Shaan requests a mood change before he breaks down crying. Mood change? "OK Shaan." I actually kind of missed these Rajni's Jukebox moments! Desi Look this time! Another moment to appreciate Ridhima's moves as well as her expressions - always welcome.

- "Honeymoon...?!" "Honeymoon!" This whole part is amazing. I feel like Rajni's tone sounds more human-like, more like Ridhima's normal speaking voice. Pretty fantastic, these little nuances that start at her voice and extend to her facial expressions. She pushes him back on the bed, climbs up, hovers over him...for a moment, I thought she was going to straddle him, too. Can't really do that in that anarkali, though, haha. "Oh! Honeymoon!" "Yes!" And as soon as Shaan realizes what Rajni's trying to suggest, she switches back to her robotic tone. Ah, so amazing.

- Shaan is so happy! I love seeing him happy! "Shaan. Honeymoon par kya karte hai?" Uh...honey khaate hai aur saath mein moon ko dekhte hai? Right, Ridhima and Karan? 😆 Such cuties these two are!

- How is Shaan going to live without Rajni? These little things she does, like waking him up, warming up his tea, listening to his concerns and helping him...he's become so accustomed to her presence in his life as a companion. I like how the camera captures the shot with the coffee mug - Karan's face is not in focus, but Shaan's reaction, that small smile, can still be seen.

- I absolutely love how Shaan reaches out to pull Rajni over to the chair where he's sitting. "Tumhare jaane ke baad...yeh Shaan sach-much Pareshaan ho jaayega. Tum toh mujhe...ek human wife se bhi zyaada pyaar karti ho. I will miss you, Rajni." She reaches up to pat his cheek comfortingly. "You may stop now." Her voice is soft, so soft. And then she echoes Shaan's words from the previous night, about crying. Inconspicuous things like this, which she picks up and incorporates into her own mannerisms and language, makes me wonder how Rajni will adjust to life without Shaan. He's so much a part of her, as much as she is a part of him now. That last question of hers...*sigh* This show killed me today.

[Episode 84] June 9th, 2016

- "Mood toh...achaanak hi banta hai, Mummyji." As if that wasn't enough to stun everyone, Rajni flutters her eyelashes...And Shaan's jaw drops. I love Rajni so freaking much! The entire family is like, "How forward is this girl?!" I love it!

- "Shaan ka pata hai...mera pata nahi." Rajni hangs her head sadly. This is breaking my heart already! The way she switches tone in the middle...It's like a dark cloud suddenly covering the sun, dimming the sky. Shaan hurries to come up with something to offset her words. "Kya, Rajni! Gharwaalon ko confuse kar rahi ho. Tumhara pata bhi YAHIN hai! Kant House." I really, really hope this is foreshadowing, because she is Rajni Kant - she can't leave Shaan forever! She will return to this house...I'm just wondering how.

- "Khush raho...Aur humari Shaan ko bhi khush rakho." Surili smiles fondly at her son, and Rajni turns to her husband. "Unhi ko khush karne jaa rahi hoon, Mummyji." And Shaan chokes on his tea. Rajni has no idea about the other connotations of that phrase, right? I love Shaan's awkward smile at the end of all this, haha.

- Shaan! Dev is not a coolie! *grumbles* Poor guy gets taken for granted all the time. Have some respect for the man who is always ready to stand by your side through thick and thin, rain or shine! Seriously, though, I hope both Shaan and Shogata come to realize that Dev isn't as inconsequential as they think he is! It would be neat to see those two siblings gradually figuring out that Dev's actions speak louder than words, that he can be wise and loyal...actually, he already is. For all his complaints against Shaan and Shogu...he's still there for them, in one way or other.

- Come to think of it, where is Dev? He somehow meanders into a room that he almost instantly approves of. It's spacious, nicely decorated...and it has fruits. Even better. He has no idea whose room it is and quite frankly doesn't care, either. That is...until a scream pierces the air and he sees exactly whose bedroom he has invaded. "Tum yahan kya kar rahe ho?" "TUM yahan kya kar rahi ho, bandariya?!" "Yeh MERA room hai, damn it!" Of all the rooms in the house, Dev ended up here, gave it his approval, and raided the fruit bowl on the table...and it's Shogata's. #IRONY

- "Shaadi ke certificate pe tumhara naam aa gaya toh yahan faida uthaane aaye ho!" "What...? FAIDA? TUMHARA?! Dev the Bangdu will take?!? Never!" Shogu's FACE! Oh, these two! I am totally on board this ship until the end. Love them!

- These endearing idiots mocking each other is one of my new favorite things about the show. Neel and Neha are absolute masters at making faces and engaging in nok-jhok that flows and doesn't ever falter. They are SO much fun to watch, and I died laughing during this scene! Dev called Shogu a bandariya, so she calls him a bandar. She calls him a bhukkad, which is actually applicable to the man, honestly...and he responds with what is one of my favorite lines. "Aur tum toh swarg se aayi hui apsara ho jo GALTI SE dharti pe tapak gayi hai!" He's trying to mock her arrogant attitude, of course...but he did just call her an apsara, too.

- "I hate you, tooo!" And with that hilariously adorable farewell, Dev finally leaves. I'm sure Shogata has a massive headache now. "I hate him, I hate him, I HATE HIM! God, WHY?!?!" She just can't ignore him, can she? They get under each other's skin like no one else does...and that is so fascinating to me. How did they meet and what led to this presumably long-standing enmity between them? Was it simply due to their different upbringings, lifestyles, and attitudes? Or is there something more to it?

- Shaan the Scientist now has to deal with ridiculous rituals, astrology, and a whole host of other things he is decidedly not cut out for. Poor guy! "Toh kya aap yeh graha aur planets ko theek nahi kar sakte? Matlab unki positioning badal nahi sakte?" Surili's stifled laughter at her son's irreverent questions makes me happy! She's so cute! "It's not nasa. It's NASA. He doesn't know NASA!" Shaan! He's so sarcastic and so irreverent about all this! Because he is a man of science! This guy is my favorite, LOL! Karan's facial expressions are so amazing, man. He's fabulous!

Dwelling on the Details

[Episode 81] June 6th, 2016

- "Iss duniya mein har koi robot hai!" Oh, Rajni is brilliant! Matthew asks her if she knows about Shaan's humanoid robot, Rajni nods. And then she says that, basically, everyone is a robot. Wake up in the morning, work or go to school, return to rest and "recharge", and then repeat. #RajniLogic And as usual, her logic is sound!

I love how she gave an alternative version of the truth in order not to have to lie or reveal anything to Matthew...you truly are a genius Rajni!

I loved how Shaan heard "dehej?!?!" and climbed up on to the sofa to kick the hell out of him🤣 And bechara Rajni's hair was just all over the place after that!

@Matthew: I echo the same thing Shaan was telling Dev while driving over, that we all thought he was a comedian and he turned out to be so evil?!? To be honest, this sudden leap in character just doesn't sit with me and at least some of the others are questioning it too...For now, I guess I'll just think of this guy as Matthew 2.0, unrelated to the previous guy who was actually sweet to the Kant family.

👏👏 Well-written! Not too much to add, but I will agree that what Rajni says is not wrong...Technically, Shaan did agree to give her up to Matthew. He is a cheater for not returning something to Matthew who has invested a lot in this robot. As difficult as it sounds to hear, he needs to think about how he can honour his contract without giving up his dear Rajni...

@bold: "Tum mujhe chhod ke jaana chahti ho?" I love the analysis you made on Rajni, and it is spot-on about the confusion that surrounds what she wants or what she doesn't want. What struck me was that Shaan was directly telling this to Rajni...which made me wonder if he feels this is deja-vu again. He is supposed to think of Rajni as his creation, but I think his question inevitably shows that he thinks Rajni will be leaving him, instead of him giving her away...keep telling yourself she is but a mere robo Shaan.

@Last line: I completely agree with you 101% and I'm guessing we're not the only ones who think like that😃😃 Both robot and creator are so tangled up in their strict rules...which one do you think will change stance first?

BRILLIANT!

*blink* *blink* *blink* Shaan is becoming more and more like Rajni each day...
@bold: Ulterior motive is right! And it links back nicely to your earlier point...what exactly is she trying to achieve here?? If she really wants him together with his ex, why does she want him to fall in love? She claims he is falling in love himself, but she's a such a big contributor to that by repeatedly insisting he has fallen in love! I am half-convinced if she wasn't this insistent, Shaan probably wouldn't have realised anything and maybe things would just roll along...but no.

@Shaan's sarcasm: Brilliant! I love how he starts smiling at her...and oh em gee, the things he says! I thought he would've stopped at pyaar hogaya hain, but he continues rambling! Rajni is right, he was the one who said all of it, not her! It's always been him making the statements, and Rajni merely pointing out what he doesn't want to say...who exactly are you trying to convince Shaan - your genius robot or your bewakoof self?😆😆

Ever.

@Trip up: If you go back to the scene, Rajni looks at him for a split-second with slitty, all-knowing eyes...😉😉 Darn it girl, you know exactly what game you playin wid him!! You masterful little genius...😆😆

@bold: YAASSS!! Shaan, the genius scientist, can make all the genius claims he wants, but he can't stop his mouth from blurting out the truth when it needs to come out!
I half expected Rajni to say "Mission Complete!" as part 1 of her adarsh patni programme😆😆 To be frank though, what exactly is she trying to do by ensuring he falls in love with her? For a robot who can't want anything, she sure is set out to achieve a lot of unnecessary goals😉

Can I give this lady a standing ovation!! For the first time in probably ever, she seriously made me laugh and want to root for her in this scene! It's so evident where Shaan has inherited his classic sarcasm from!!
"Yeh samman toh mujhe hona chahiye..." "Agar main tumhe Amrish the truck driver se Amrish the chairman of Kant Transport bana sakta hoon, toh mein gulgul ko bhi sarkari waqil se Chief Justice bana sakta tha na?"

To me, the most iconic part of this scene, is how it contrasted superbly with the previous one! Shaan was mocking Rajni's logic, and she immediately turned it on him, leaving him tripping for his words! And now, Surili turns Amrish's own logic against him, and gives the most devilish pout I've ever seen on this show👏👏👏

Say whatever you want to, but if Surili was searching for a perfect bahu just like her, this girl is probably the one🤣

@Love story: These are the scenes that convince me that Shaan Gyaan and Dhyaan have truly grown up with the most supportive and loving parents they've had. Shoguta, is a spoilt brat, but the way she stood up for them against Matthew twice also has some inkling of their upbringing. I'm just curious to know how she fell in love with Amrish the truck driver? I think in an earlier episode Amrish once mentioned that previously, she was a lot more naive and she has only become so classy as of late...

I love your character analysis on Dev! It's so true! We were initially introduced to him as a comic relief, but overtime he's definitely felt like more than that over time...

@bold: I was so heartened by the end part...I think we can take this as Dev's blessings for the couple, and that he'll be right by them! Shaan is so lucky to have such a loyal and caring friend who goes out of his way to help him...

I just loved the way you've expanded on the friendship between Dev and Shaan...how Shaan, as usual, bottles up his sorrows while Dev breaks down on behalf of him. It was truly heartbreaking as he took a step back and asked how they entangled into this mess...earlier it was just Shaan the genius and Dev the co-programmer - and not 2 innocent guys getting beaten up and threatened while trying to do the right thing.

You've really brought out the soul and depth of the scene and it truly stood out for me. The cinematography was excellent as Shaan watches his father leave while Dev walks in just as he leaves frame...combined with the overwhelming background music...wow that really was a scene.

@bold: For me, this is probably the highlight of their friendship...while Shaan tries his level best to keep things under control, that silent reassuring hand from Dev is probably what he really needs right now. I really loved that this episode brought the focus off of Shaan and Rajni for a while, to show us that Shaan isn't completely alone in this...

@last line:😭😭😭

[Episode 85] June 10th, 2016

- I wonder what this must look like from the Kant parivaar's perspective - Shaan is supposed to pour libations on the Shiva linga 201 times. Which means he's going to have to trek from a lake all the way to the Shiv Mandir, half a kilometer away, up rugged terrain and stairs and whatnot. With a pot of water. 201 times. All for a honeymoon. With Rajni. This man must REALLY love his wife.

- Surili looks surprised (and impressed?) that Shaan is willing to do all of this, after 2 months of marriage, to spend some time alone with Rajni. If only that were true. The truth of the matter is, though, that Shaan has to take Rajni and get out of the city ASAP because Matthew will most likely ruin Amrish's reputation or resort to other awful tricks otherwise. All of this because Shogata slapped him twice? All of this because Shaan hasn't handed over an unfinished robot yet? Unfortunately for both Shogata and Shaan, Matthew has made both of their lives, as well as those of their spouses, absolute hell. I guess that's why it's in everyone's best interests to not mix business with pleasure.

- Dev is awesome. He has absolutely no qualms speaking his mind, even if it means calling Shaan names. "Saala, kitna bada cheater hai tu! Cheating karta hai!" While Shaan is all preoccupied with the loopholes in the parishram requirements, using his own brand of logic about how none of this applies to robots, Dev is the conscientious one. These little moments show some fundamental differences between Shaan and Dev's thought processes, and I really like how Dev doesn't back down when Shaan tries to refute him. Instead, Dev starts to mock his friend's "smart" idea...but that's cut short because Amrish arrives, ready to go! Hah, Shaan! Amrish is coming with him. Phas gaya, beta!

- Shaan, Rajni, and Amrish stand at the edge of the lake, looking up at the mandir waaay in the distance, on top of a mountain. Just 201 times. No biggie. "Honeymoon zindabaad!" LMAO! Shaan's pretty worn out after just one round, haha. "Ab toh lagta hai iss jhaad ke neeche ya uss talaab mein maroonga!" I have just one thing to say. Shaan, buddy, you signed up for this! Work hard, play hard! This will get him into better shape, at least!

- Shaan reluctantly leaves for the second round of water-fetching, dragging his feet and watching Rajni speaking to Amrish. "Mere logic ke mutaabiq, mujhe mere pati ka saath dena chahiye." Rajni's logic and her adorable smiles! I LOVE her smile when Amrish lets her go to help Shaan!

- Rajni offers to help with holding the matka, and then she suggests that they don't have to go to Goa for their honeymoon. "Kahin aas paas jaa kar, honey khaate khaate moon dekh sakte hai." Awww, haha! "How cute! Tumhare jaisa honeymoon agar sab manaayenge, toh desh ki abaadi kitni control mein rahegi!" I loved that "honey and moon" line when Karan and Ridhima were joking around about how Shaan didn't tell Rajni exactly what a honeymoon is, but Shaan's reply is also great, haha.

- ALL the cuteness in this montage of moments is in the details! Shaan wrapping an arm around Rajni's shoulder as they walk off together. Rajni reaching for Shaan's hand and walking along the bank with him. Rajni wiping Shaan's face with her dupatta, and then using it to shield him from the sun. Shaan and Rajni supporting each other as they climb up rocky, grassy outcroppings of earth...I love how Karan-Ridhima's height difference is utilized in this bit. He's so tall that he's able to walk on the ground, holding her hand at arm's length, as she walks beside him on an elevated ledge. So cute! I also love the way the bit with the dupatta was shot, such a stunning visual for the few seconds we can see Ridhima's face through the fabric.

- Dev is back! "Kameene! Tu mujhe akela chhod kar aaya? Kitna darr lag raha tha, tujhe pata hai? Baahar jaao, toh woh Matthew ke gunde! Aur ghar jaao, toh teri behen! Bangdi!" Hold up. GHAR? I love that Kant House is basically Dev's "ghar" anyway. And when he's there, he's not at peace because of one person only, whom he could probably ignore...Or maybe not. Shogata is now...Bangdi?!?! DEV! Incredible. I love this guy so much.

- "Aye! Tera robo! Tera honeymoon! Tera baba! Main kyun bali ka bakra banoon?!" IT'S BACK! Remember the days when Dev's catchphrase used to be some variation of "Tu, tera robo, tera *insert noun here*"? Yeah, I'm so glad it's back! Also, his faces are too hilarious. The entire time Shaan's groaning and moaning about how he shouldn't be doing any of this because he's a scientist and it's too hot outside, Dev's looking at him, singularly unimpressed. "Kya ho gaya? Paagal ho gaya hai tu?" Haha! Probably.

- Shaan's genius idea of making Rajni get water from the lake does not go down well with her brother. "Abbey, kitna kameena insaan hai tu! Ghatiya aadmi hai! Ek nari se kaam karwaayega? Woh bechaari kya 200 baar pahad chadhegi?!" "Bechaari nari? Yeh bechaari nari METAL ki bani hui hai!" Both of them have a point. Dev forgets that Rajni is not a flesh-and-blood woman and indignantly speaks up for her, which is significant. A while back, Dev was the one reminding Shaan that Rajni isn't actually his wife, that he could make another robot, etc. But the past few episodes have shown that line between human and machine blurring for Dev, bit by bit. Now Shaan has to remind him that Rajni is made of metal and therefore won't be affected by the heat and the hiking.

- Except...she seems to be affected by the logic of Shaan's scheme, instead. He mentions that she's made of metal...and she looks at him, twitches a bit. Interesting nuance. Like she's listening and doesn't like what she's hearing. "Bauji bilkul theek kehte hai. Aap kaamchor hai. Aap mein koi jazba hi nahi hai." There we go. She doesn't like what she's hearing...and she speaks up about it. I'm thinking, based on this, that although Rajni knows fully well that she IS made of metal and that Shaan is technically correct, these facts are not everything to her anymore. They're not sitting well with her. Possibly because Shaan is trying to shirk his responsibilities by using her abilities? Is that it? This seems like a matter of morality, of principles and promises. Shaan said he was going to do this parishram, and now he's trying to find a shortcut. Very bad, Shaan. Shame, shame. "Awww! Female Bauji banne ki koi zaroorat nahi hai!" Shaan's sarcastic singsong voice, haha. "Agar main kaamchor hota, na, toh tumhe koi nahi banaata! Samjhi?" Rajni considers this. True. She accepts his command in the end, but as she leaves, she nonverbally expresses her disapproval. Very bad, Shaan.

- When Amrish starts sensing that something's odd about Shaan's rejuvenated appearance and rapid return to the mandir, Rajni's expression is a curious one. It's so childlike, and it made me think of a kid who knows too much about something and is waiting to see what her friend does to get out of a tricky situation. I'm honestly not sure how to describe it. But for a moment there, I thought she might be glad that Amrish could be catching onto Shaan's little plan...And then I thought she might be a bit curious about how Shaan would deal with answering his father. When he does answer, she goes right along with the explanation he comes up with.

- That little shot of Shaan-Rajni walking away from the mandir together is SO sweet! Love the way Shaan's arm is draped across Rajni's shoulders, love the way he lifts the pot onto his shoulder without looking away from her face...and most of all, LOVE the way they look at each other, smile, and nod at the same time! What a team!

- "Papaji!" Just going to take a minute to process this. From "Uncleji" to "Bauji" to "Papaji", I wonder what Dev will actually end up calling Amrish...Granted, Dev was probably referring to Amrish as Shaan's Bauji and Shaan's Papaji, but that didn't stop the Dev-Shogu shipper in me from rejoicing a little bit! I also noted that Amrish doesn't think very highly of Dev - and that needs to change. I wonder how that will happen.

- I'm on the fence about Shaan being a kaamchor. Efficiency is good, but Shaan was supposed to do this on his own. By taking the easy way out and trying to outsmart his father, Shaan's grand plan ends up backfiring, and how. Amrish gives Shaan a stern rebuke, which I think he deserved. As a lot of us have been saying, Shaan still has a lot of room to grow. I like the fact that Rajni's face is blank as she listens to all this, but I feel like there's a slight hardness in her demeanor, too. Especially when Shaan is sent off to get more water from the lake. She moves her head in a way that seems to say, "That's what you get. Go." After that, she looks much more content and provides her support to him, which he really, really needs...

- The phone conversation between Amrish-Surili is quite cute. Surili and her endless questions! Pallaviji, nailing the accent, as expected! I also love the ample dose of Punjabi in Amrish's portions of the conversation. Rajendraji's Punjabi lines always make me smile. "Amar baby ko shakti dena!" She gets so worried about Shaan - and considering what happens at the end of the episode, her concern was not misplaced.

- Exhausted from exertion that he's not used to, Shaan collapses. Dev and Rajni rush to his side and Amrish soon reaches them, too. Amrish blames himself for the state his son is in, while Rajni checks his vitals and explains that Shaan's dehydrated state caused him to faint. At this point, I went back to wondering...was all this necessary? The tasks set forth by the pandit, I mean. Seems like way too much. I'm impressed that Shaan, in spite of not believing in all this, went ahead and did the abhisheka as many times as he did! I love the music in the middle portion of this scene, by the way. And Rajni's final line is lovely. "Agar bhakt Bhagwaan tak nahi pahunch sakta, toh Bhagwaan toh bhakt tak pahunch sakte hai."
