Every year lists come out to herald the most popular baby names. Celebrities are famous for giving their children unique names. Moon, Apple, North are just a few that are easily recalled. Names are important as they help to create our identity to the world and to ourselves. Unique Names Day takes a moment in the year to celebrate those who have these interesting names.

History of Unique Names Day

Unique Names Day came on the scene in 1997. Since then it has been a yearly occurrence. There are some things that people with unique names go through that those with common names never must think about. As children, it is common to want keepsakes with your name on it. If you visit a tourist attraction or take a trip there is rarely an item that people with these names will ever be able to have. It may seem like a small thing, but for a child trying to fit it, it is difficult.

When there is nothing that you can ever find with your name on it, it can take a toll and make one feel like they don't really belong. Unique Name Day is the perfect chance to change that. Having a day just for those who put up with repeating their names, spelling it, teaching people how to say it and rarely having any of the fun trinkets with their name on may not take away any frustration, but it can help make new memories!

How to Celebrate Unique Name Day

To celebrate this holiday, gather up your friends with unique names and have a fun filled day to just let them know how much they mean to you. You can do this with a dinner party themed around their name. Is their name from their cultural background? You could use foods and music from that region. Perhaps a few games as well to keep the fun going!

Maybe a dinner party isn't possible but that doesn't mean there can't be fun! A cake or cupcakes can easily be made and decorated with the unique name of your friend. Pass them out and let all your mutual friends acknowledge what this person means to the group. You can be sure this will bring a joyful feeling of belonging.

If you are the one who walks through life with a unique name and has felt the frustration of it, you can take this day to revel in your uniqueness. This day can be used to find out the story of how your parents picked this name for you. If you are named for a relative or historic figure, do a little research into them and record your findings so that you can use that story as inspiration through your life. Record as well the story your parents tell so you know their thought process.

There are challenges to having a unique name. Unique Name Day is a day to remind you that being unique is something special and sets you apart. So take the time to celebrate that uniqueness!

Small businesses have many challenges to be successful. It can be an exciting experience to start a business and do something that you love. The reality comes in getting your message out and bring the paying customers in. Getting marketing advice can be an expensive proposition and every penny counts to a small business. History of Be Heard Day

The task of getting the message of a small business through all the noise of bigger companies and their marketing machines could be described as herculean. Local and small businesses are sometimes not even noticed by those who live near them because of this. Marketing and Business Strategist Shannon Cherry saw this problem and decided to do something about it. She created Be Heard Day in 2004 and since then has been making a difference to many small business owners.

Her goal for Be Heard Day reportedly is to make it a "give away day", a day where she and other business and marketing professionals offer their services and knowledge for free. How amazing this that? Being able to get advice from these professionals could mean the difference between complete failure or shinning success for some small businesses!

There are some great ways to celebrate Be Heard Day and it doesn't matter if you own a business or not! If you are a business owner, the best way for you to celebrate is to grab your favorite search engine and get to Ms. Cherry's site for this year and sign up! The ability to receive thousands of dollars' worth of advice is too good to pass up!
Another way to celebrate is to make time to sit down and objectively look over the marketing plan you are currently working with. See if you are being creative enough to cut through all the other marketing going on in your area. Should you try to use different types of marketing? These questions and more that she offers can lead to greater success!

Don't own a business? Don't worry! You can celebrate Be Heard Day and have fun at the same time! Grab the family and get out on the town! Find those small businesses in your community that you haven't had time to stop into yet. Have a fun day of shopping and helping to support your community. Cereal Day was created to shine a light on this favorite breakfast food. Do you know the history of cereal or do you suppose that it was always the sweet creation that we find in the supermarket aisles?

History of Cereal Day

Cereal got its start in the 1800's as an unappetizing and difficult to digest health food. Made of nuggets of bran it was thought to regulate what was a meat heavy diet. Most American's at this time ate mostly pork and beef. The diet of the time was very unhealthy and those who wanted to improve society thought that they could make changes in diet that would bring spiritual and social change as well.

Dr. James Caleb invented the bran nuggets to help the patrons of his sanitarium. A sanitarium was a place where people would go to recover from illness or injury or to partake of restorative spa treatments. There was a spiritual side to being at the sanitarium as well and Dr. Caleb hosted several prominent people including the woman who created the Seventh Day Adventist religion.

Dr. John Kellogg took an interest in health foods for his patients. He created granola and with his brothers help created many other meatless breakfast foods. They even came across the method that let wheat flake instead of being a nugget and corn flakes were born!

It wasn't until 1939 that cereal would take on the sweetness that we are familiar with today. The sweet creation was called Ranger Joe Popped Wheat Honnie and was marketed towards children. You could say that the rest is history! From that moment forward cereal has used the marketing tactic of appealing to children through radio and TV ads.
