Abhishek: Where does he find the strength?

Today's episode was clinched in that last Abhi-Rohan scene...after 2 days of relatively average epis, today the show captured the emotional impact of the first two weeks in that last scene.

But let's start at the beginning...Abhishek refuses to accept payment from Aman because his ethics won't allow him to accept money even for something that was validly their fault...because Meera showed the magnanimity of taking the blame for the accident on herself when he knew it wasn't her fault...interesting😆...Meera ki mahaanta dekh ke Abhi ka mann beh gaya...aakhir ek mahaan insaan hi dusre mahaan insaan ko samajh sakta hai👏😆

So Ramraj has not paid the property tax on the house and they've gone delinquent on their payments...waah yehi ummeed thi inse...upar se as usual the two chachas demonstrated their eternal shamelessness as they shooed away the workers...even as Abhi tried so desperately to fix things...Annoyed as I am, every family has some shameless individuals like this...you can only pity Abhi since such ppl are least interested in waking up to responsibility.

Anyways, coming to the scene of the epi for me:

Rohan, oblivious as usual to the fact that Abhi has probably had one of the hardest days of his life, excitedly demands his b'day gift...and for a moment Abhi is so utterly dejected at not being able to provide that for his brother...knowing his brother will never understand what he's going through...and then I don't know from where he gathers some strength from inside him and nods...it is hard to explain how powerful this moment is...nothing hits you harder than that innocent disappointment and the sheer burden that Abhi carries...with absolutely no one to understand or support him.

And then the actual bit where he plays "Happy Birthday to you" on the harmonica for Rohan...really touching moment...the way Rohan lights up and yet there is a bittersweet quality to the whole scene because you can see the pain in Abhi's eyes even as he tries to smile for Rohan's sake:

Sidenote: This right here is the essence of the show...the writers would be wise to focus more on the potential of this bond, this relationship, the nuances than waste time on random slapstick mimicry.

But baaki sab ek taraf, and those ending 10 seconds ek taraf...that bit right after Rohan leaves, and Abhi is back to being weighed down by the disasters around him...and there is this moment where he is on the verge of tears, almost gives in, there's a hint of tears in his eyes but somehow he's holding it back...such SUPERB acting from PJ there...I think it's probably this character and this guy's acting that has me still watching.

Because in moments like this, your heart goes to Abhi and you so dearly wish someone would understand and support him in this sea of irresponsible problem creators he lives with...but sadly, Meera doesn't really appear up to the task...the girl is barely able to understand herself...she seems least equipped to understand or take away Abhi's pain...can every problem really be solved through Meera's whimsical gyaan or random b'day parties?😆 We shall see.

I was waiting for someone to make a post about today's episode! (Was too lazy to start my own 😆 )

Anyway, that aside, today's episode was taken away by Abhishek, or rather, Priyanshu's acting. This is the first time I am seeing his show and he really has me blown away with the sincerity of his acting. Not for one moment do I doubt any of his reactions, such are his expressions.

That scene you showed in caps (bless you for that :P) was mind-blowing!
He knows Rohan is naive and wouldn't be able to understand his troubles, but he put away his sadness to make sure Rohan doesn't feel dejected.

Do not even get me started with the two uncles. I am sooo glad Abhishek wasn't quiet the whole time. They needed to understand how important the wall is for their Homestay!
I really thought the eldest uncle would have some common sense considering they have a legal notice under their belt now too, and that too all cause of him

I had a question to anyone who's reading this by the way... From what I remember, the ad said that basically Abhishek is providing for all right? So is the eldest uncle no longer a lawyer? And what is the younger uncle doing? Kushti? Does that pay?
It's a huge family... I mean nowadays, sometimes even with 2 working parents, a family of 4 has a hard time surviving. And these people...
(Yes I'm looking into this way too much, but what to do :P)

It really hurts when Abhishek has to deal with such nonsense just because they are older and he has to be respectful. I guess this is a part of a normal family because I'm sure we all have had to, at one point or another, tolerate some people in our family because we have no other option. But I really do think these grey shades of the characters are seeming to be a little more over-powering than I'd like. I mean with a financial situation at hand, you'd think at least bade papa would be wise enough to deal with the circumstances in the proper manner. You have to pick your battles... can't just take them all on at the same time

Let's see what they have in store for us though. I'd love to be proven wrong and that the uncles unite with Abhi to help pull the family through the coming obstacles.

Anywayyy, so I basically ended up writing a short story here itself 😆
So I'll end it now 🤗

It was so good to have a solid episode today after the last couple of meh episodes.
THIS Abhishek is the original one...he got lost in translation...lol somehow but he seemed back today. PJ is definitely a significant saving grace for the show because as we saw on tuesday, when they don't give him and his character any substance, the entire episode sinks.
Rohan-Abhishek scenes are my most favorite scenes so far and whenever these two have had the opportunity to enact such scenes, both have done outstanding. PJ was no doubt amazing in this scene. That moment when he burrows his head in his shoulder upon Rohan's demand for a gift with Rohan lowering his head simultaneously was so touching. You can't help but feel for him. I had the same question watching Abhi play the harmonica for his brother and lighten up his face as such. How the heck does he manage to do that?! He seems to have immense patience, despite those little bursts of frustration that he lets out unknowingly. Ramraj and that other chacha irk me so so much! Both were super annoying today😡 .That scene, where Abhi unconsciously spills out to Ramraj about the allergy mishap and then instantly realizes what he just verbalized and tries to apologize, depicted Abhi's state of mind quite well...Good acting on PJ's end again. Even Amma was annoying today with her supporting her useless sons and reprimanding Abhi instead. I expected her to be more supportive of Abhi and more aware of what Abhi's dealing with so far. May be some version of folks like those chachas do exist in reality but if they did and I had to deal with such folks, I don't think I could ever pull an Abhishek...NEVER!

@Meera-- she was again in the mellow phase of her personality today. It was good that they followed up with the mom questioning her decision again. her mom still seems totally unconvinced of Meera's reason for accepting the proposal. I don't like her sister's general attitude...she's always so bossy to her..."you better do this, do that and blah blah blah."

Oh well, over all it was a good episode and all because of PJ's superb portrayal of overwhelmed with situation Abhishek. He's really shining through in these emotional, heavily nuanced moments.

Honestly I didn't think i was going to write anything about today's episode because it left me a little pained and disappointed. Not from the POV of being a crap episode but the behaviour of the chachas, the whole meera-aman crapfest and suprisingly daadi too today. Out of all the things, her silence irked me a little because I would've expected her to be a little more empathetic towards Abhi's situation with the labourers. But oh wells.

After re-watching the episode with a more of a peaceful mind, I noticed the strong contrast they portrayed in terms of chachas vs Abhi. We always knew them to be selfish asses and Abhi is practically the total opposite. So selfless. And you notice even in their arguments, the selfish behaviour lurks because they ranted about how Abhi wasn't paying them the respect that they deserve as his elder paternal uncles and here Abhi's argument was far far from anything personal. He was upset about the wall being incomplete, how their business is experiencing a rocky running and his stresses and worry of how this will all affect the family and the household running financially if they manage to loose the delegations. Forget about taking the responsibilities of the household, the chachas aren't even capable of carrying the burden of any other stresses except their own personal grudges with other people in this house.

I'm surprised with the scene of Meera's mum calling her tbh. Didn't expect that to happen. And well it was definitely better than all the other drama that happened in the episode.

I loved the your caps of Rohan and Abhi's scene AY. Sigh. So lovely. And indeed that scene was one to be remembered. Like you mentioned, those last ten seconds of the episode where Abhi's temporary smile just involuntarily turns into the worried frown stole the whole show. I don't know how the guy does it. So much pain and emotion and yet the flawless transition is what had me floored.

Rohan's and Abhi's relationship is what holds together the show at this stage. I feel Rohan is somewhere Abhi's dose of solace too. It's momentary and short, but Rohan's innocence and smile let's Abhi forget or at least just put aside his worries for a few minutes every day. It's also because the two sort of ride the same boat. Both so far from the materialistic wants and selfish needs of the human nature and you see that because just the musical wish by Abhi brings the biggest smile on Rohan's face.

Maybe that's why I need Meera to become a bit more aware of herself, her life and her surroundings before they show a love angle between Abhi and her. She has the charm but needs the understanding to be there for someone who needs the care and love which he hasn't been showered enough of. Someone who is just there for him.

Yesterday finally saw the some glimpses of what the show showed in it first week...
Priyansh was SO GOOD yest ... He as Abhishek and Rohan are making to watch out for this show. In tueday's epi the radom dance of Meera at the start ..made me loose the connect with her and then again the random taking Aman's Blame was last ...
The writers seriously need to work on Meera's character.

With Abhishek's is easy plus Priyansh Nuaced Acting is adding layers to hsi character ..bt with Meera it has got a Monotone and appear very Superficial as off now.

Those Pictures are heartwarming...at the same time it just tugged my heart seeing Abhishek all Sad and Broken...yet the Inner Core strength is being held on ...

Priyansh is doing Amazing job in all this and bringing lot credibility to the show , hope even he does not give in to the give in to Randomness ...hold on Dude...Hold on Dude..

(Yes I'm looking into this way too much, but what to do :P) This is a valid question. I think what the promo was implying was that for all practical purposes, it is mainly Abhi's income from the homestay that runs the house...and as we can see, Abhi is mainly a one man army running the homestay for the most part.

Ramraj's income as a lawyer is probably meager at best and I have no idea what the pehelwaan chacha does...seems to just sit around all day...even with the homestay income, it's kinda hard to believe they are being able to feed/provide for a family of 14...but i guess that's the premise we have to go with for now.

It really hurts when Abhishek has to deal with such nonsense just because they are older and he has to be respectful. You have to pick your battles... can't just take them all on at the same time. Yes, yesterday was an especially low moment overall...like you said, the grey shades feel overwhelming then...unfortunately though, this is very much the reality...people cannot and will not change their basic stupid and insensitive behavior even in the face of mounting burdens or outright tragedies sometimes...such ppl very much exist.

Let's see what they have in store for us though. I'd love to be proven wrong and that the uncles unite with Abhi to help pull the family through the coming obstacles. I don't think the uncles will unite so easily but Meera will probably help to get them in line in her own Meera way.

Anywayyy, so I basically ended up writing a short story here itself 😆

Yeah, they seemed a little back on track yesterday but I'm not sure how they are going to approach the show long term.

Still, if we keep on getting powerful moments like the Abhi-Rohan one yesterday, this is worth a watch...PJ is steadily turning out to be a revelation in this show to me...I'm almost curious to watch his previous role to compare how his acting was there to what he's doing here.

Abhishek yesterday evoked so many emotions...his helplessness, his anxiety, the way he feels overwhelmed...these are nuanced emotions to portray and PJ is doing a fine job.

I love how human Abhi still is...there is the Abhi who can't help but let his frustration out at his chachas asking them how they don't seem to see how they are making things worse...and then he suddenly backs off as well when they guilt trip him...then this same guy somehow manages to pull himself together to smile for his brother...Abhishek is both the most humanly vulnerable as well as aspirational parts of our personalities...we want to have that kind of emotional strength but we don't always do.

Word on Meera's sis...so far all she's done is whine at her...let's see if this moves forward.

I was disappointed by Amma too...seems a bit bipolar...some days she's fine with Meera, somedays it's random "ameer ladki" rant.

Namaskar,
Abhi is such a revelation and PJ gets the nuances so right. As much as the rest of the family be annoying they are good actors and he plays them off nicely. I love, love , love the bond with Rohan because it's so special and both actors do such a fine job.

There is visible irritation right now as far as Pants' are concerned . Reminds me how once Abhi's mom mentioned that this family might not want him to get married, maybe they don't realise it but they do come across very insensitive.

I also want to say PJ is doing awesome just but of all the characters he seems to have the most attention and written material supporting it. It almost feels like he is written by someone else at times because the other characters are going through some bipolar phase like Dadima , Meera , Meera's family etc. It's like now they are trying to move the show forward after initially canned episodes or something.

I want to know when Abhi's dad left because that will tell us how this family was holding together and if he dropped out o Engineering college then how were they living before that. It's just so weird that the Family Head, Grandma is not more vocal about her sons not earning much. Or Burdening Abhi.

Meera , Meera and Meera. Give her atleast 30% attention though.

I just feel for Abhi and he pulls you in because you know there are guys like that struggling to hold their family, work and the daily disappointments . Sigh.

I am hanging here still.

Beautiful caps Anu! That was the best scene of the episode. PJ is doing such a wonderful job as Abhi that you go through each and every emotion with him. He is doing all these heavy emotional scenes so effortlessly!! His helplessness gets to me every-time:( Its as if whenever he is in a bad situation he gets sucker-punched by his own family members.

It would make for such a great viewing if the other characters are well developed . Right now no one seems to have consistency baring Rohan.

I dont think Ramraj is practicing law anymore as that guy said something like, aap to lawyer reh chuke ho.. So basically its just Abhi who is an earning member.😕 And if thats the case then when chacha says yeh bhi agar tumhare papa ki tarah ghar chhod dete to ? Abhi should have replied that it would be good as its one less member to feed 😆😆

Meeras mom scene was good.

Precap; What was Meera doing in Stephanies room😆 She seems to be upto something Meera style😆 as she has decided to help Abhi come what may.

Yesterday's epi definitely didn't go easy on the those who's hearts are brimming over with positivity and optimism a.k.a you😆

It is definitely hard to watch the near relentless assault of insensitivity on Abhi...and the fact that it isn't the cliched "sanskaari ladki being tortured by evil chachi/mami" set up of desi tv that makes it more hard hitting...what they are showing is very REAL...such ppl exist...it's not merely an "abla" fate.

And the reason it all hits so hard is because of moments like that ending scene...to see an individual so overwhelmed yet STILL holding on, still trying against all odds to think of other ppl...in the middle of so many problems, Abhi had the compassion to think about Meera needing someone to sleep in her room...and this wasn't only because of him being smitten with her...it's simply the way he is...as his sister Anita sleepily mumbled to Meera as well...that is what makes it compelling viewing.

Word on Meera needing to be more aware on so many levels...but I guess we can only wait and watch...I don't have very high hopes from her currently😆
