Edited to add: also how irresponsible? Matlab tumhara beta/grandson is missing and instead of going to police, alerting neighbours, calling him on his phone they just wait for their damaad to get there?!

Yeah, that too. But in general I think Priya wants to handle Varun delicately, especially when it isn’t going to help in the problem at hand
