Nice that you brought up this topic of the choice of flowers. I keep wondering why they selected lilies for Vedika and Red rose for Priya. I mean it could have been any other flower right ??
If red rose symbolises, courage, strength , true love and passion, then lilies symbolises purity , rebirth , motherhood and fertility. Red roses mostly given to lovers where as white lilies , they are used widely at different occasions .
I think in India lilies are a foreign/imported flower, expensive, sophisticated, delicate but not really holding any special significance for people.Whereas roses are more widely available, affordable & part of our popular culture (not native culture, coz both are non-native flowers). A lot of our poetry, esp Urdu, and romantic imagery uses roses to depict love, devotion, beauty, fragrance.
In that sense, Vedika is sophisticated, high maintenance but shallow. Priya is common & accessible but still beautiful, valued & meaningful.
