I finally saw Thursday's and Friday's episodes, and everyone was right-- the leads were good, considering what the BTS made one dread. In spite of having seen the ropes attached to DP and how little danger she was really in, she managed to be pretty convincing. NM was good too, and while his constant chatter was understandable due to fear and panic, I found myself wishing he'd shut up. But emotions-wise, good job. (I didn't much like the mandir scene, but that's more because I don't like the standard tropes.) But kudos for the physical acting--the ravaged look, almost crazed, the reddened nose, the eyes looking like he'd actually been crying. Very impressive.
But wth was that flashback to Ram having to identify his dad's body? The doctor prattled off forensic details like he was the investigating officer instead of a medico.đ€ Couldn't hire an actor to do a police officer's role? And is that "unidentifiable" an open door to the return of Ram's dad?đ€
WHERE were Akki and Shivina? I know others have pointed this out, but wt... again! That was so, so inexplicable, it's a huge blooper. Don't tell me they were overcome by emotion and fainted or decided to make a baby whom Priya could be reborn as, in case she died.đ
Another Whatttt? moment was that Priya's monitor seemed to be showing normal parameters when she was supposed to be dying, but I may be mistaken. I found DP pretty good in those scenes too--nothing overdone, but you could believe she was sinking.
Shubhavi impressed me most with her bang-on expressions, inhumane as her character is. That woman is so classy and, IMO, the best actor in a pretty good cast. I thought Shubham looked more subdued, almost genuinely worried, than I'd expect from the character. This is the second time his reaction has been human, the first being when Ram had that nosebleed. Reena is doing a great job, very authentic, though she's one of the worst characters, and, I suspect, about to cause this forum and viewers far more trauma. That entitled reaction was spot on.
Like some others here, I have a sneaky liking for 2 of the evils--Shubham and Shashi. Both because they're entertaining, somehow. Loathsome, but hard to hate totally.
It's unfortunate that itv has trained me to wonder what awfulness will be the price for 2,3,4, whatever days of watchable episodes.
