Hello everyone,

After a long break from ITV, I've started following this show on-off, from a reasonable distance to not get too invested and then left to wallow on the same fate most ITV shows get.

This show is like a breath of fresh air amidst the stink of craps. The first and foremost reason being the 'Realistic lead characters'

Priya Sood - For the first time I'm witnessing ITV normalising a flawed female lead character (I might have missed out on some others in the last few years, feel free to suggest). And here the flaws are not simply physical making them apparent on the face like skin color, weight, physical handicap, and all other craps ITV usually focuses on. It's more about the emotional baggage, mental trauma, and scarred heart that makes Priya a relatable character.

Priya as someone who has faced many betrayals is bitter from the outerfront and that's justified. We as humans have different ways of dealing with such situations. You can't expect someone to be sweet always. Life's miseries sometimes snatch away such little mercies. And it's fair she's being careful and guarded with her heart and emotions, not wanting/ready to go through another such mishap in her life. Eventually, sporting a bitter or not so likable out front. That's her defense.

Priya stands out among those utterly sweet Mahanta ki Murat kind of female characters who didn't show even a minute change in their personalities despite facing so much. That's unbelievable to think the least and far from reality.

Ram Kapoor - He's just a simple charming guy who creates his own happiness when the world is giving him nothing. Amidst the complexities of a stepfamily, food and rains are as basic as his needs are to be happy in his life. Initially, I thought he's too simple to be a person in this cruel world. I wanted him to have more layers in his persona, more definition to what he is.

But then, having a simple male lead against a very complicated female lead just fits the bill. This is kind of the opposite of the usual ITV characters definition and that's what I'm attracted to in this show.

I just hope, Ram's only job isn't just to untangle Priya's complicated emotions but he's got his own dimensions as well. But I won't mind even if he's made to do that only (shipper alert). He's just too cute to be drawn to, esp when he's nervous around Priya and blabbers.

Would love to hear your thoughts as well.

I don't think Ram will be just cute.

His world and his issues have been kept under wraps. There are going to be chinks in his armour too. There have to be.

But like how everyone is seeing through Ram's eyes, here too Ram and his issues will be seen through Priya's eyes. Once she starts living with him, his complexities will unfold.

Yes the realistic leads are what is making this show so unique . Priya and Ram are both breath of fresh air .

But I don't think Ram is that simple. It's mostly a facade he maintains to hide his hurt. I am sure his complexities and layers will unfold as the story moves forward

I don't want Ram to be just cute either. I hope he gets more layers and dimensions to his character!

I agree, it would be interesting to watch his complexities unfold through Priya's eyes.

Hoping for the same. Getting to know him more and deeply through Priya's perspective would be real fun.

Cannot agree more !!❤️

You know, I have watched several ITV shows in childhood , have been a silent reader of IF since years, but no show, no character has pushed me enough to pick up the pen and write. Joined IF only for BALH2.

I agree BALH2 is really a breathe of fresh air. As someone from IF or SM i don't remember , had rightfully commented that for the first time the FL, will not be rehabilitation centre for the ML.

I don't know if you have watched , Zindagi Gulsar Hai, but the character of Priya is heavily inspired from that, but the beauty of BALH2 is Ram is no Zaroon . Therefore we are thankfully exempted from watching the same redundant Hero-heroine Tashan and hate converted to love .

Priya's scars are deep rooted , and only someone who loves as unconditionally and whole-heartedly as Ram can heal her .

And Ram our romantic tragedy queen, needs someone as feisty, brutally honest , and blunt as Priya to wake him up from his delusionary world and accept the reality of his family and past love life with his Vedu darling.

Looking forward for their journey to unfold. This story has so much potential. Fingers Crossed.

I am so glad that BALH2 made you pick up your pen and write coz you write beautifully! ❤️

Totally agree with you .. the characters of Ram and Priya are so so well written.. so unique.. and they just fit each other so so well! Their story has tons of potential to actually be a milestone on ITV if the makers handle it properly. Coupled with NaSha's portrayal, Ram and Priya of BALH2 are one of the most amazing pairs I have ever seen on tv.. ❤️ 😍

P.S. And yes on that ZGH part. The fact that Ram is no Zaroon just makes this pair all the more beautiful!!!
