foreverlazy -- wah, loved your response post! 👏I was wondering if I was the only one who HATES all this dark lighting and getting annoyed with it. so I want to give an example of beautiful gorgeous light in a drama.

isn't that beautiful? all those green trees, that sunlight streaming through and the house in the background -- it gives a rich pleasant feel but also sets the mood for the drama. it tells you that this is a positive feel good drama. (in case you are wondering, it is a thai drama which I just binge watched last week. lots of fun!) unless it is a serial killer drama or there is some mystery aspect, I don't see the point of having such miserable lighting where you have to strain your eyes.

I understand they are likely not shooting in actual locations but sets but surely you can light it up more? I love decor shows and nothing about ram's house screams rich or even ultra rich. why not? don't creatives watch the design shows that are shown on our local channels? even in youtube, there are architects showing off their designs of indepedent homes and it is such beautiful designs that incorporate both modern and traditional aspects. more importantly, they are so beautifully lit that everything just pops. even youtube cooking videos incorporate such great light and they are shot on some tiny budget. surely, the creatives can do better?!

as for the music, I strongly feel that if the creatives want to set themselves apart from the previous season as well as another show, then put in music that sets the tone and gives it a different feel. like you said, get a composer to put in a few simple notes. it doesn't have to be complicated but the melodies should give you feels of the characters ram and priya. why take old movie music? or even new ones? create something unique.

Now that's some not-so-lazy post @foreverlazy 😆😆 (sorry for the pun on your UN)

You have put forward your points beautifully. 👍🏼

@mangofalooda

I agree with the points on the lighting and the music. I really really wish they use some original compositions in this drama which sets it apart from others! And plz be done with the khnh tune already!! Ughh I guess we should start some kind of twitter trend now for cvs to listen to us 🤔

That's some great beautiful lighting of the Thai drama that you posted! True, it sets the mood right. About time cvs notice these things because every small thing matters in making a good show.

my drama friends laugh that I pay so much attention to decor in dramas but I really feel like they set the mood and the theme for the drama and yes, the lighting really matters in setting the overall tone and the feels.

this is from a channel in youtube called buildofy and different architects show off the houses they have built and designed in different cities in India. to be honest, ram's house feels so boring in comparison!

these are living rooms from 3 different houses (videos) that I picked -- just look at the use of colour, the way light weaves in, plants, the furniture -- everything about it tells you these are both luxurious as well as functional homes. then see, ram's house in the drama -- so boring in comparison. to make it worse, ram's house doesn't even come across as really rich, let alone interesting. 😆 how am I supposed to be believe that he is a big businessman dealing in crores when his house is such a bore? 😆

Wow those are some seriously amazing pics. ❤️ Yeah Ram's house looks quite boring.. I think he hasn't renovated the house at all and kept it as it was since his dad passed away.. it has been said quite a few times in the show (mainly by Shubham) how Ram is old-school, ancient, fossil, extinct species (🤣) and so on. Now that I think, this can become an interesting track in future if Priya teaches Ram to move on from the past (both his father, and Vedu).. in a way that he keeps the fond memories but at the same time is not stuck in the past. So she may help him renovate the house, bring more light and colour into it...etc.

Maybe this has been deliberately done by the creatives to go with Ram's character? I dunno. I also doubt that the cvs have thought so much, lol. But if they have, then I would love to see the changes Priya brings in his life.. how they both learn from each other and help each other become the best version of themselves ❤️

It's absolutely gorgeous! I also think if they really wanted to, they could've kept the darker lighting for scenes like whenever Priya confronts her dad or when Ram and Vedu share scenes. Like you said, darker lighting makes more sense for the more sombre scenes, and if they want to use it they should at least use it as a contrast to the brighter lightning of more light-hearted scenes.

I understand they are likely not shooting in actual locations but sets but surely you can light it up more? My mother owns nicer centrepieces than the ones at Ram's house, the decor is so plain that even Priya's house seems much nicer in comparison. Look at Ram and Priya's room from Season 1:

Image

It looks like a rich person's bedroom, why can't we see something like this for Season 2? Flowers, paintings, light fixtures - I need something!

as for the music, I strongly feel that if the creatives want to set themselves apart from the previous season as well as another show, then put in music that sets the tone and gives it a different feel. like you said, get a composer to put in a few simple notes. it doesn't have to be complicated but the melodies should give you feels of the characters ram and priya. why take old movie music? or even new ones? create something unique.

Listen, I would rather they pull something from the Kabir Singh soundtrack or even play Tum Hi Ho, at least those are kinda recent compared to KHNH. If they wanted to use an old song, why not use a really old like Pehla Nasha which has a lovely piano score at the beginning of the song that could've easily been RamYa's bgm.

You should absolutely pay attention to the decor! The decor is a part of the set and any show/movie is less enjoyable with a boring af set. Listen, I mostly follow people on Insta that post really nice pictures of their gorgeous houses. Like, look at this:

Image

Look at this table, just the table, and tell me Nandini wouldn't pick something like this for their living room as like a side table beside the couch - it looks expensive but in a very subtle and unique way which I think is what her taste is like.

Image

The Kapoors would definitely have a smaller room, maybe like "family room" that's not for guests cuz' you know, rich people, and this could be like where they have heart-to-hearts and just chill. Maybe if Ram actually had a big luxurious study like I wanted him to, this could be a part of that. Speaking of which...

Image

I wanted Ram to have a dramatic ass study like this, I don't know why but he seems like the type to fall asleep here while working and I know it looks a little more old school, but it really suits Ram and maybe it could've been his dad's study space before so that's why Ram doesn't want to change it. They could've even been like, the entire house has more modern pieces and Ram's study in contrast is the one thing that he refuses to let anyone touch.

Image

I just thought this was really cute and it looks like something the Soods would own. Also, how am I supposed to believe that Sandy, who looks like she's around my age btw, doesn't own a single succulent, not even a fake one? You have to have at least a fake one!

@foreverlazy ~ those are such awesome decor/designs. I think we have better ideas than creatives! 🤣hahahahah... I was looking at the pic of season 1 you posted and it definitely is way better there in terms of personality and looks. for some reason, they are going for this pastel neutral shades in season 2 where everything blends into this coffee colour background and even the people don't stand out as much due to the lighting. maybe thats why ram wears such bling coloured shoes so we can see his feet. 😆

That's less of a Ram thing and more of a Nakul thing I think! 🤣

I love the contrasting colours of Ram and Priya's wardrobe like he likes rich and sometimes really strange colours that make him stand out whereas she prefers neutrals that make her blend in, but I just wish that their set decor could also reflect the wardrobe.

Likes:

1. RAM and Priya: They are the heart and soul that has glued me to the screen... Nakul and Disha have definitely set the bar high...

2. Priya's strong and fierce character... That girl doesn't bow to anyone if ain't no mistake of hers... How effing beautiful it is!

3. RAM and Brinda: oh man... Shut anyone who would think a guy and girl can't be best friends. These two are certainly proving them wrong. One of the best duo..

4. The constant feel of rain and the music has drawn my attention (I definitely have a thing for cold, snowy, rainy romances)

5. Story: most of the story so far have been written sadistically realistic... And I love that practicality.

Dislikes:

1. Editing team has to gear up their bars... There were so many mistakes by them... And they are snapping scenes incomplete which is a complete turn off.

2. Mahendar sood and his second family: I mean they are just too cunning creatures entrapped in a human soul, I feel. I'm not liking any scene which includes these three. Because it's so over the top...

3. Shashi: He's a weak villain who plays backfoot. He isn't anywhere near to our Ram to deal with. And using Ram's ex who's indeed his wife as a bait to destruct Ram is such a low move... I hope he gets a better story line...

4. Priya's family is dumb at times... They had to learn some guts from Priya and speak up when there's something wrong. I definitely loathe how they are so confused about Mahendar sood and neeraj... If they are wrong, they had to be told off... But no... They pine over everything looking around with goofy eyes like someone should speak... And that greatly is in my disliking list.
