Priya's P.O.V.
The light shone through my window, making me open my eyes in frustration. I throw the duvets over as I jumped out of bed. Since that weird dream last night, I barely sleep. I stripped off and began doing my morning routine.
After showering, I picked a black long sleeved shirt and blue jeans. I ran my hands through my wet dark locks. I applied concealer under my eyes to hide the dark circles. When I finished, I grabbed my bag and went to the kitchen. Papa wasn't there and a note was placed beside some breakfast. He left early for work. I quickly ate breakfast and walked to my car, driving to my college.
The college was packed with students by the time I got there. I parked my car, and turned the engine off before stepping out. Across the parking lot, I saw the boy who saved my life last night. I still didn't know his name. He was staring at me with his gorgeous emerald eyes, but I admit, it was really creepy.
I decided to ignore it and head for my first class; Mathes.
The bell just rang as I left my locker and went to my first class. I was surprised to see the boy sitting next to me. He was in my class? Maybe that's why the seat beside me is always empty. And why is he skipping Mathes class? Was it because of me?
I shrugged my thoughts away as I hastily made my way to my seat. His eyes darted to me as I sat, away from him as possible. He moved closer to me, much to my disappointment.
"I'm Ram.'' He introduced. Oh so Ram is his name. "You're Priya, right?''
His voice was so deep and husky it will melt you inside. I wanted to thank him again for last night, but decided against it. I don't honestly want him ignoring me again.
"How did you know my name?'' The words came out harsher than I intended to.
"Well.'' He chuckled. "You're kind of popular here. I think the whole town knows you.''
"Oh.'' I agreed. The professor was speaking in front of us, but it seems like only Ram and I are in this classroom.
"So, are you enjoying Dehradoon?'' He asked, as my head darted to him. His emerald eyes seem to pull me in, like gravity, somewhat hypnotizing me.
I laughed, earning a strict look from the professor. "What?'' Ram warily asked.
"You're asking me about Dehradoon.''
He nodded. "Yeah, I guess I am.''
"I really don't like gloomy cloudy town, especially cold, wet things.'' I admitted. He stares at me and laugh.
"What?'' I raised an eyebrow at him.
"Nothing, you're just funny.'' He commented. "Now, let's go back to this Mathes thing that we are working on.''
I nodded as I looked through the book. My dream suddenly hit me and the realization that I was an inch close to a murderer made me shiver. But I guess he wasn't a murderer... I guess...
class was over. The whole period all I did was talk to Ram and get to know him better. He was funny and just like any normal person- but the problem is he is a bloodsucker. I tried to push that aside as we talked.
I picked my bag and quickly head out to my locker for the next class. I heard footsteps behind me and I turned around to see Ram walking behind me.
"Oh, hey Ram.'' I greeted casually. A small smile played on his lips as he approached me, his height towering over me.
"Hey.'' He greeted back. He walked closer to me. "Can I ask you something?''
"Yeah, sure? What is it?'' I replied as I looked up to him, biting his lip. Now that is sexy. Shut up, Priya! He's a monster.
"Why did you move here in Dehradoon?'' he asked. I looked down as I find my courage to answer.
"I uhm..'' I trailed off.
"No, it's alright. You don't have to tell me.'' he finally said, cutting me off.
"It's okay.'' I assured him. "Well, I want to live with my papa and give my mom some time so she can concentrate on her work .''
"And now you're unhappy.''
"Umm... no.'' I admitted. "It's just hard to move because I got used to Goa.''
"priya!'' A familiar voice came behind me. I turned around to see Rajat walking towards me.
"Hey Rajat!'' I greeted him. He smiled as I wrapped my arms around him.a friendly hug...
"How are you?'' he asked me. We pulled away from the hug. Ram awkwardly stared at us, before speaking.
"Um.. Priya. I need to go.'' He spoke before glaring at Rajat who gave him a confused look.
Rajat and I both watched as he swiftly made a turn around the corner and disappeared.
"What's wrong with him?'' Rajat asked.
"I don't know.'' I admitted. Rajat looks at me and smiles before he pulled me to my next class.
Time passed quickly and soon it was lunch. Rajat and Neha both invited me to have lunch with them. We ordered our food and quickly find a table. Neha and Rajat were talking to each other about random things while I stare at the door of the canteen. It suddenly opened, revealing Ram and his group.
"Who are they?'' I suddenly asked, causing both Neha and Rajat to look at me.
"The weird ones here in our college.'' Neha replied as she eyed them.
"They are Mr. and Mrs. kapoor's adopted kids. They moved here from East India , like, a few years ago.'' Rajat explained as he looked straight into my eyes.
"They kinda keep to themselves.'' Rajat added as he looked over to them.
"Yeah 'cause they're all together, like TOGETHER together. Uh, the girl, that's saumya, and the black-haired guy, Rishab,.'' Neha explained.
"Neha, they're not actually related.'' Rajat clarified.
"Yeah, but they live together. It's weird-and, okay, the dark-haired girl is natasha. She's REALLY weird, and besides her Sid, who looks like he's always happy about everything.'' She introduced.
"And of course, lastly.'' Neha added again. "Ram, the smooth haired handsome boy who doesn't seem to like anyone here.''
"Oh, now I know.'' I said as I stared at them, finally taking their seats in their usual table. Ram caught my stare and he smirked, sending shivers down my spine.
I looked away and blushed as I dig into my food, ignoring the fact that Ram might still be staring at me.
"Um... Priya?'' Rajat called for my attention.
I looked up. "Yes?"
"Are you busy on Friday night after college?'' He asked.
"No, why?''
"I just wonder if you want to come with me.'' he answered, looking uncertain. "To the river side.''
"Yeah, sure.'' I replied, earning a sweet smile from Rajat.
"Can I come too?'' Neha chimed in. I glared at her as if telling her that this is a friend's bonding but she misunderstood it.
"Okay, okay, I understand.'' She surrendered. "It's a date.''
My eyes widened as Rajat and I both blushed. "No, it's not!'' We both denied a little louder, causing everyone in the canteen
"Hey everyone!'' Neha announced. "I guess Miss Popular Priya Diaz is going on a date on Friday.''
I mentally face palmed myself as Neha skipped away. "You'll thank me later.'' she mouthed to me.
Ram angrily stomped out of the cannteen. Was he jealous? Probably no. Maybe?
I stood up from my seat, deciding to follow him.
"Rajat, I need to go.'' I told him. "I'll see you later, okay?''
He nodded as I headed to where Ram went to. All I can say is...
It's now or never.
I pushed the canteen door and trailed after Ram who was stomping his foot with anger. I tried to pick up pace to match his, but it was useless. I gave up and catch my breath, as I collected my voice.
"Ram!'' I called out, just for his sensitive hearing to pick up. He stopped in his tracks and turned around, running vampire speed to me.
I gasped as he pushed me against the cold wall, making my bone crack. I whimper in pain, making his now jet black eyes soften.
"I told you.'' he growled. "We can't be friends.''
"Why not?'' I dumbly asked, intimidated by him. He lets me go as he turned around, punching the wall and leaving a dent where his hand collided.
"You don't know how dangerous I am.'' He huffed. "One single move I make can easily kill you.''
I shook my head, unable to form an answer or a single word. "You don't know how badly I wanted to drain you right now. But I can't.''
"Ram, I know you won't hurt me.'' the words unexpectedly came out of my mouth.
His dark eyes met mine again as he faced me. "How sure are you?
Priya, I've killed people before. What makes you think that I will spare your life?''
I gulped as my mind registered what he just said. So he would kill me and drain me? I stepped back, fear probably showing in my brown eyes.
His red eyes turned back to its original colour black as he stepped back, seeing the single tears that escaped my eyes. "Just forget about me. Just forget that you ever met me and that I existed in your life.'' And with a flash, he was gone.
I stood there frozen as I take all of his words in. Soon, the bell rang and all the students came out of the canteen. I wiped the tears that fell from my eyes as I headed towards the locker, and pretended that nothing had happened.
His last words echoed in my mind like a record, and every time I hear it, a deep hole burned in my heart.
I know this feeling isn't love yet, but since he saved me twice last night, I grew attached to him. I know how dangerous he was and he is a Vampire, but that just spark my interest towards him.
I guess that's all gone now.
Days quickly past and it was finally Friday. Since that heated moment between Ram and me, he and his "group'' didn't attend college anymore. I was worried and I wanted to know what happened to them, but I can't. No one in this college knows where they live.
I sighed as I throw my things in my locker, the class finally ending. I hope the trip to the river side with Rajat will help me take my mind off of things.
"Hey.'' Rajat's spoke behind me. I turned around to be greeted by his sweet smile.
"Hey, rajat.'' I greeted back, forcing a smile.
"What's wrong?'' Rajat asked me as he studied me carefully. "Are you alright?''
I gave him a mere nod before I clasped his large hands in my small ones. "Let's go.''
"Yeah.'' He responded. We both walked quietly to my car, none of us speaking. I opened the door and he got in. I did the same and started the car engine.
It let out a noise before we finally drove out of the college. I turned on the music, hoping things between Rajat and I wouldn't be awkward.
To be honest, I looked like a wreck. Not seeing Ram made my heart hurt, in a way I can't explain. I should fear him, but it seems like what I am feeling is the opposite.
Rajat gave me directions to the river and soon, we were there. I turned the car engine off as I stepped out, eyeing the beach.
The sky was almost darkening now, the sun setting. The view of the place was beautiful, along with the relaxing soft blows of the wind.
The water was calm . Rajat took my hand in his as we walked along the river side, the tiny particles crunching in our shoes.
"I use to go here when I'm sad.'' Rajat told me. "This place relaxes me and made me forget.''
I nodded. He was right. For a moment, I forgot about everything. Ram, my new life and everything. It was just like only Rajat and I were in the world right now.
"Rajat, tell me about this town.'' I encouraged him. "I mean, what's Dehradoon famous for?''
"Secrets and Cold ones.'' He stated in a cold tone, not like his usual ones. It was as if something bubbled inside him..
"Come again?'' I asked, even if I know exactly what he was talking about. What does Rajat know about them?
"Vampires.''
