May be its difficult to get through the msg for promos.. but think of those ads when you go to watch a movie in the theatre. we have now control over it. And there's quite a lot of stuff tht's shown which is not appropriate for kids..WRT the episode, Sony has well advertised abt today's BIG C!! Can't blame them for not keeping us informed. They very well did today!!
Fosla (hope I can call u so), movies are a different thing altogether...one can choose movie according to the company and environment,, hardly can be done for family channel that I pay good money to watch ...and I am talking about all stuff not appropriately shown in serial...the serial need to put 'restricted' on the particular show and not air during daytimes..even if parents are controlling, the channel should have their control in place too...I do hope someone monitor the programming on TV and find this inappropriate without proper restrictions put into place (it is not only violence that affects kids..it also 'C' scenes like these)...I know Sony did put in the 'wording not appropriate for all viewers in their comedy show' can I not expect that from this serial too...is that too much to ask...maybe it is reading all the post here...
To me just promo isn't enough...of course my POV...

I also live in the West infact in california, and have a son 10 years old, Now a days shows which show intimacy is way too out in different channels, and children surfing channels may come across that, How much can it be restricted, And as for even advertizements which show small portions of kiss between a couple is visible to them example the ads of Kay jewelers which gets aired during the holiday season The ads says Every Kiss begins with Kay , so basically the way Kiss itself is shown itself somewhere its captured by kids,
Now coming to the late night show yes SONY is showing such bold things late night after the kids sleep and the adults are left to watch it..About the reruns and if they see for that its upto the parents to keep an eye on when the kid surfs the channel.. The broadcasters will broascast according to the time slot but its us as an individual to stop it the time it falls on the eyes of the kids.
Even Kids shows have talks abt dating romance and kiss and all that content is overloaded everywhere its hard to stop one and its hard to stop the eyes from seeing things, ONLY solution to it is Keep the remote in your hand and give only the LIGHT BLUE tagged prgrams for them to watch.
This is my POV and what they showed in the episode is when teh show and the couple are at a stage of moving to teh next level of their relastionship and the execution was done taking these things into factor and the couple being one which is seeking their love and desire at a later stage of their wedlock cycle presuming a couple gets married as per the tradition when the women is around 22 or 23 and the guy around 26 to 28 when he is well setteled and has a secure life...
Shanti, obviously as parents even though we live in the West we have different views…I do salute your openness and comfort level that you have with what your kid is watching…of course kids growing up in the West or for that matter in India sees kissing / and actors dancing with romantic tunes (the conclusion depends on the audience and their interpretations) all the time…to me what does the kid infer from that kiss?…do you think a kid who watches the Kay advertisement infer instantly that the kiss is the beginning of a sexual act…I don't necessarily think that…the context doesn't imply that…I, as an adult could infer but that hopefully, my kid doesn't…..
I don't even have a problem with the serial itself…of course it is a natural progression of the serial although a bold presentation, if I may add (I am not talking about the serial itself here)…I as an adult can take it in the right context, my problem is with the channel. As far as I know Sony advertise itself as an Family Channel, in doing so I expect some amount of checks and responsibilities from the Channel itself – according to me – Sony should have given an appropriate warning to the current content of the show and restrict it only to nighttime showing only – meaning no repeat in the daytime – and that apply to the promos as well – if you look into the comedy shows it shown in the past- Sony announced it as 'foul lang'in one of its episode – so if it could do so in the past, why not now? – I am not asking something that it hasn't done before – My POV again

Hi Kalapi, hopefully you don't mind me butting into the conversation but I felt like putting in my two cents too, I get what you're trying to say but honestly I think at the end of the day it depends on the parenting, there are a lot of bad things in the real world out here and it's upto the parents and adults around the kids to watch out for it. I live in the west too and my house is constantly filled with nieces and nephews of various ages and we still don't have that problem with re-runs. Kids go to school during the day, when they come back it's homework straight away, as soon as they finish they can play outside until it starts getting dark after which they can come in to watch cartoons on disney or nickelodeon. Yeah that does mean that we as the adults have to record some of our shows and watch it the next day or stay up for the re-runs if we're up for it and don't have work/uni in the morning but that's something we do for the kids.I remember when I was a kid my mum wouldn't watch her shows till we went to sleep either, she'd stay with us to make sure we finished our school work and she'd play outside with us, she wouldn't rest till we were zapped out of energy, it's one of the main reasons why I'm so close to my mum, she'd watch the shows that were appropriate with us but I remember she loved the Zee horror show (don't know if you remember it) and I was the youngest and would get frightened by it so she wouldn't watch it unless I'd gone to sleep, or she'd record the re-runs at night with low volume so that she could watch it later. That's parents for you I guess, even I do that, if I'm watching a show and my nephew pops into my room randomly, which he does often I change it if it's not right for him or turn on the playstation to play with him.Guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't think you can expect the channels to take responsibility of what our kids see or not, it's upto us and our own sensibilities and yeah this episode was pretty bold, I was quite surprised but even before watching it I knew this would be one episode to watch alone as adults...
Ashi...I am enjoying the discussion so glad you joined...and I do understand what you say and believe me I do the same...my post was partly that I think that Sony should have restricted viewing of this episode and put in appropriate warning...
Secondly and more important, I am curious how the home audience feel about this particular episode...most members of the forum are from the West, with a totally different take on the issue...but I know home audiences even grown-ups might have issues watching it with grown-up family members...so am curious to hear their view...
