True - there seems to be a contradiction and inconsistency in the envisioning/writing of this character. I totally agree that I too see her as a more quietly dignified person, who doesn't need to vocalize her dissent in such a public way...esp given the early episodes. Then the first fight happened.
i bring up her behavior outside her flat again as something quite inconsistent with what we'd been shown till then...at least inconsistent in terms of what I was expecting from her character. I didn't enjoy that scene at all, it was loud and not all that funny. She was almost like Shipra then! Ouch!

But I guess with these soaps, excess is the chosen way to go...not too much is left to our imagination. everything is larger than life and triple underlined...maybe it's the medium - and a poverty of imagination when it comes to script writing or filming - obnoxiously melodramatic seems to be the aesthetics of Indian television and there doesn't seem to be any chance of that changing in the near future at least...

yet, there seems to be some weird magic when Ram and Priya talk to each other...

@ bold and well said
Last but not the least...Priya turned out to be the most sensible, more than her father even, she defended Ram well but then she went on and on, saying all those things about being married and not being married...yes whatever she said was correct but somehow I could not connect the high drama to Priya character, I mean I was expecting Priya to get back to a shell and then stand in the balacony where Ram comes to aplogise...again nothing wrong with the dialogues but the way it was delivered the subtleness of Priya's character got lost is my take...
Agree! I too didn't enjoy the histrionics. Felt Priya didn't act the scene well (my opinion). Her character is a reserved personality so she should have quietly stood in her place and given the excellent message for the audience.

I feel Priya's outburst was keeping in tune with the situation. Priya has already heard a lot from her mom for "not getting married at the right time" and felt humiliated when Kartik announced that he would not marry until his sister is married. She has protested, albeit in a milder manner earlier as well. The episode yesterday was like the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back...one can only take so much, everyone has a breaking point. And Priya reached hers today when she realized the whole situation was something they asked for...with her family's obsession about her marriage. And somewhere I think she blamed herself as well, because she agreed to the rishta, letting herself be led like a sacrificial lamb, in spite of her instincts warning her that something is wrong somewhere.

I don't find Priya's outburst odd at all or the fact that it happened in front of the whole party...there were not that many people there outside of the Kapoor and Sharma family and Vineet and his dad and they all needed to hear what she said!

I agree. Her emotional outburst was quiet natural. Likes Saakshi's Acting very much and her dialogues.
Over all a very good epi.
