Do new faces make a difference on shows or is old is gold as a phrase true?

Shristi Rodey(Manjari of Yeh ishq Hayye ) or Smriti Irani ( the famous tulsi of Saaa bhi kabhi Bahu thi )??? Ronit Roy( KD or Mihir ) or Karan Mehra ( Naitik of Yeh Rishta kya kehlata hai )??? Who do you think is wanted more on screen?
Well for once this topic is sure debatable. Do new faces make a difference or we still look for the well established actors and actresses of yester years? According to the thesis conducted , it came to our knowledge that youngsters prefer new bright faces where as the audiences ranging from 30 to 40 years of age want the much talented and experience actors back . Looking from a larger angle ,both have their pros and cons. New talents are always welcome as today we have loads of it in our industry. It's through these young fresh talents, that we have got faces like " Sanaya Irani,Barun Sobti,Ankita Lokhande, Sushant Rajput,Sukirti Khandpal,Soumya Seth,Shaheer Sheikh and many more ruling the TV industry. These faces bring about the dynamics in acting and freshness to the screen. Directors can mould their talents and experiment with wide range of emotions. Soumya Seth for example who plays the role of Navya in Star Plus's 10.00 PM show, according to Director Ravi Bhushan, "was hard to crack as an actor. Instead of taking the girl to the character we took the character towards the girl".

New launches in the industry always have high expectations and is a gamble in a way. Sometimes they click with the viewers , giving a high wave to existing TRPS of the show and sometimes they are just not able to bring to the table and deliver what was promised of them. But one thing is guaranteed , the element of chemistry between the leads or supporting actors is definitely worth the watch. At times fans demand the comeback of their favourite stars and they want to see them only with their favourite co-stars. New faces for sure face tough resistance as an image is already engraved in the minds of the audience who have been loyal fans of an actor.

On the other hand, the saying "old is gold " definitely apt and justifiable where the legendary actors are concerned. The evidence is in the name of a recent Sony show " Bade ache lagtey hai" which has the very talented Saakshi Tanwar and Ram Kapoor in the leads. Now here is an perfect example of talent with amazing experience packaged in one . Seeing them in a frame is a visual treat as they bring about maturity and semblance to their characters , unlike new actors ,who are constantly told how to go about a particular scene and its execution in every minute way. The packaging of the show has been done in a manner that it does manage to grab eye balls despite its clich storyline and known faces. Watching these known faces on the screen is a sheer pleasure. Actors like "Smriti Irani however is thoroughly missed after leaving an indelible mark as Tulsi Virani in Kyunki Saas bhi Kabhi Bahu thi. She did follow up with her own line of shows like Viruddh which failed to create a mark with the audience. She has been in hiatus for far too long , her arrival is still awaited eagerly. Saakshi Tanwar,Ronit Roy,Usha Nandkarni, Savita Prabhune , Supriya pilgoankar or Kiran Kumar are a few names to reckon with. They are the power house of talents and are electrifying to see them on the small screen. Though shows like Chajje Chajje ka Pyaar on Sony or Mayke se Bandhi dor are stories of young couples their having seasoned actors like Kiran Kumar and Rohini Hathangde do add to people wanting to watch the shows for them. If young blood bring chemistry and charisma , these experienced actors bring in power, and flawlessness to their acting.

Hence the combination of youth and talent is the best combination ever. Viewers not only get to see young fresh faces but also get talent rolled with experience .It is like a striking a perfect balance. Now is up to the makers to extract the hidden talents in the youth and sustain the powerful substance of the experienced lot.

I think there is a rush of new actors and its too much to sustain

There is a loss of characters or centric idea when there are loads of fresh faces coming and people go crazy for jodis and there is a loss of understanding character oriented roles

In the eva between 2003 -2008 Many character oriented roles were given promimance and they were excellent and televsion had a lot of depth in such roles

These people should be back and many have done in in recent times..

So I would love to see some people from that time coming back and getting great roles and moreover the roles should be solid ones where one says arrey this character has depth and outshine the show..

For me the newer ones are not that appealing unless there is lot of focus given on them and the sill sets match the character to the most appealing level..

I am sure many producers who produced shows in that era know that many gold actors have stil got that charm and appeal to the audience and masses and they draw ratings

Yes Shanthi you are right.. Nobody can beat the experience that old actors have. I am feeling so nostalgic seeing Apoorva clippings in your siggy - one with Parul and other with Mona...

Why would a show do well just because the faces are new? Surely viewers are more discerning than that? The "freshness" of the face has to be accompanied with some talent, some screen presence, some charisma...then the show must have a good story, a good script, a good director...

it's not so simple, old vs. new...

Even if the actors are older, it doesn't necessarily mean they are talented...

In this case, we do have experienced actors who are also happen to be really talented...that's why the show is doing well...The "new"/younger faces on this show have not made a mark (except negatively - here i'm thinking of Natasha and her crazy eye expressions...dude someone give her sunglasses)...

They should recycle some old shows @ prime time and the newer generation who are watching new actors can get a glimpse of what the earlier breed had to offer..

Many shows which were griping eariler and the scenes were classic are still there in the present ones but I feel that its pretty rare to get it now a days unless some extremely talented people from a few yesr back who had an eye catching character have been asked to perform again ..

Now coming to Ram Kapoor and Saakshi who dd extremely well in Kasam Se and KGGK have come back again with a different storyline so these efforts need to be put to catch viwers attention and with actors like them storyline and screen play play a highly important role

With the concept which they want to show in this show I am sure people from all age grups ranging from the 19 year olds to the 45 year old would want to know what arethe pros and corns of a Late Mariage

So with actrs from certain era showcasing their talent now means a lot of factors should be bundled with that

Also Playing the main Protagonists with such actors they have to make sure that they have proper depth in the character and the audiences say Yes its the right choice and we are moved by the performance !
