Dear Friends,
Last two days I could not write my 'Aaj ki do baatein' as I got busy with couple of things, hence time crunch, anyway I have managed to follow the show, stealing half an hour of my time. In the meanwhile I have been reading several posts, some have agreed with my take on the serial and others are saying give it some more time to develop, don't go into negative criticism.
Every show has a gestation period I guess. I stumbled upon Kasamh Se after 4 months of its start, after KS, I vowed I will not get serial addict as Ekta had left me heart broken. Again last November I got hooked to a serial called Lagi Tujhse Lagaan, I was happy to find it did not belong from BT's stable and hoped it to be different but forgot the bosses who run the channels are one and the same. Thankfully de-addiction of LTL did not hurt me that way KS had hurt.
Now coming to BALH, what is my take after a week of its telecast? Are we being too hyper about the show, are we refusing to give time to the makers to develop the story?
Those who know me from KS days know that I do not mince my words, like to call spade a spade. Frankly, as I was once again disillusioned by another serial and I had thought I would give it a miss till Khushboo showed me the promo and again it was a Ram's show...Ram won over Ekta and pulled me to watch his showđIt is different, he seemed to tell me đ I said okay the timing too suits me and once again the lady who revolutionised the Hindi GEC dissappointed me. Friends, mind you I am not trying to spread negativity, who am I to preach you what to see and what not to see, nor I am the marketing department sitting here trying to popularise the show but then as many times in the past I have said in various forums, I pay for the channels which beam into my drawing room and as a consumer I have the right to demand value for my money. I do have the right to caution the makers of the show with constructive criticism what is going down with us and what is not. Why should I accept bloopers as because it is Hindi show and bloopers happen? I never attended a TOEFL class but I know that Keats is something which is not taught there. I am a career woman and I do have some idea how companies are taken over. Many of you may find these to be minor things but why the heck can't we have shows like they have in the west? I am sure they are also not perfect but then bloopers are rare. Quality is something we should demand as consumers.
I am partial to Ram everybody knows, I am watching Sakshi for the first time and must confess she is very natural but the supporting cast? đĄ e.g .Sakshi's father, Ram's mother?? I mean the good effort RK and ST are putting will go in waste as a good supporting cast is needed to enhance the actor's acting. Remember Ashwini, who played Jigyasa in KS...when she came into the scene she filled it with her presence, we hated her from the bottom of our heart but we loved her as Jigyasa. Briefly she was replaced with Jaya Bhattacharya but we demanded her back and when she did, we were happy to hate her once againđ
The storyline - I am waiting for Ram and Priya to meet, yes want to see their chemistry build up but for last one week whatever I have seen I must confess after seeing the promos I expected a different show. I know families get worried when their children do not get married in time. But at this age when your priorities are different you are not expected to talk about marriage like teenagers all the time. Specially Ram, a business tycoon, he is lonely as they say it is lonely at the the top but he is level headed, he will not marry for the heck of it, he has past that age but his friend for last 4 days has only spoken abut marriage, the benefits of it with his wife leaving him by the second. I liked the father and daughter relationship, the talk they have of her being lonely after sometime in life is also very natural but then refusing to speak to the boy who jilted his daughter...I would rather be proud of my daughter then to act as hurt in front of that worthless fellowđĄ I loved the moment when Priya told her mother that she too hurts her by her comments, very natural and I would look forward to more such comments. Regarding the bathroom scene, frankly speaking I am in two minds, though I loved how Ram called out 'darling' but then I thought Ram is a person who will not say certain things to his shadow even...yes he would have said I feel jealous when I see Vikram with you, which would have been enough to read is heart...but then all scenes cannot be matched with one's imagination so I am sort of okay with that scene.
Friends, the show has a lot of potential. Ekta has managed to pick one very mature and sensitive subject. Lets do constructive criticism to make the show better. I know the channels and the PHs are not the viewers best friends with the no. of collective appeals/ petitions we did on KS in the past and LTL recently but then we do have the right to voice our opinion. Lets not get bogged down, every viewer has the right to give their opinon, you have the right to disagree too but lets not accuse and abuse. Your thoughts friends, love Tin
