It's not the new guy's fault. It's the media who touted the new entry as the leading man, male lead, main lead.
It would've been a disaster to bring in a big name as well. Because it's an ensemble show. They were right in bringing in a non-big name. The problem however was the media's touting of him as the male lead (offense to KK, who is actually the male lead here), or as the leading man. They always brought up Abhinav Shuka as male lead, leading man, then said since he's out now, here comes the new one to fill his shoes.
And yeah the new guy did go along with the media's tag a bit though. But as i said, it's mostly the media's, PH's and maybe the channel's fault.
Agastya is not developed or given the space like the other characters. His scenes are always more about others rather than on him. All the other characters have some screen space of their own, even if it's just humor and light scenes. Part of this may be that Agastya as a character has a mysterious, ambiguous aspect, so they can't give much focus to him alone just yet. Or the other possibility is that they don't know how to deal with this character, since he's different than the Bengali version. Everyone else, they have a basic blueprint.
