Equal rights to wife and mistress: Court

Tuesday, Apr 8, 2008, 22:28 IST | Agency: IANS
The law protects not only the wife but also the mistress or live-in partner under the domestic violence act, the Delhi High Court ruled Tuesday.

NEW DELHI: The law protects not only the wife but also the mistress or live-in partner under the domestic violence act, the Delhi High Court ruled Tuesday.

"We find no reason why equal treatment should not be accorded to a wife as well as a woman who has been living with a man as his common-law wife or even as a mistress," a bench comprising Justices Vikramjit Sen and P.K. Bhasin said.

you are not aware of the law in india. not just in DV but in terms of everything owned by the man a mistress can demand shares legally. in this show the woman in question is good as she is not creating a ruckus in demanding things. haven't you heard of the case of anita advani who was rajesh khanna's mistress slash live-in partner? she booked a case against his family for share of house and the court took it as a legit case as its acceptable in terms of law.
