We saw in Nandini's flashback that wasn't in a hurry to have kids with Nandini, but at the same time he couldn't actively discourage it. I don't think Nandini's pregnancy was something he particularly made sure would happen. At the same time, he couldn't not sleep with her or take obvious precautions to prevent a pregnancy.

That being said I do think he had some affection for her and cared for her enough, and maybe even loved her in a certain manner.

What gets me is that Ani always so much detail to Meera about his life. He didn't make up any fake life or background, but rather everything was real. He left out Nandini. What was he expecting? I also thought in this day and age, how believable is it that the son of such a rich man wouldn't be found out by Meera. But this I can believe somewhat, as there are families that are more private and very little info is out there regarding their personal lives.

But going back to Ani, how was he planning on keeping this up? He even talked to Meera about her visiting his house. And it's problematic because he told her all his real details.

One suspicion I have is that he hoped one day to leave Nandini after he became financially secure enough.

I agree, Ani must have felt something towards Nandini. Maybe not love like he felt towards Meera but something.

People give extra details when they lie. The detail is sometimes what they lie about or sometimes what is around the lie to make it more believable. Here he went over board with every one and conveniently forgot his wife.😆

Financial security would be interesting because Balraj would be involved in that matter. I don't think he would agree so easily. So either he does it behind Balraj's back or he doesn't do it at all.

There were two possibilities.

Meera finds out the truth - this then would have different possible repercussions

Or he leaves Nandini and his family--but here it leaves a chance for Meera to find out the truth.

Exactly, I am not entirely sure why he would make Nandini pregnant or get "with" her if he didn't love her? And who will reveal this secret if Ani is dead. Or will he pop back to life later on?😆
