K yunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi made him a household name. Yet, Mehul Kajaria has quit the show and turned bad. Aren't you the bad guy in Babul Ka Angann Chootney Naa? (Laughs) Yes, I'm Astha's self-centered brother Vinay whose only aim in life is to migrate to the U S. It's my first negative role. As Tulsi's youngest son Harsh in Kyunkii... and Rohit in Teen Bahuraniyaan I was the good guy. So what drew you to this rogue? This may sound clichd but as an actor it's always exciting to play a range of characters with different shades. Vinay is an opportunist who will fake emotions and go to any lengths to get what he wants. And there's a com- ic element to the character which is pretty interesting. You're no longer seen on Kyunkii... I didn't want to be a part of the story after one more generation leap. Even Rohit in Teen Bahuraniyaan ended up being just Amrapali's husband. I had been promised more. You have done lot of other serials too. Hip Hip Hurray Part II, Koi Apna Sa, Kehta Hai Dil and even movies like Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai. Yet, people don't remember you. (Sighs) There's something called luck. Kehta Hai Dil was popular but it was a weekly show so the recall value was low. In Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai I was just Tusshar Kapoor's buddy. Kyunkii... gave me name, Harsh, but it was difficult to stand out in a crowd. Would you like to be seen on a reality show? I'd love to. Among the current lot of actor-singers, I'm the best.
