Hello all,

I was waiting for addicted1 to give me the GO to post the update. I haven't heard from her as of yet. So I am going to go ahead and post the update in another hour or so. Stay tuned 😊

Bharti and Kamla patch things up
June 23, 2011 Episode WU

The episode begins with Gau walking down the stairs and looking at the tiny golden statue of Radha and Kishan placed in the pooja place and getting flashback of what Dhara told yesterday about how she would present the statue to that daughter who gives birth to a baby boy. She also gets a flashback of what her mom (Chimti) told about how she would be the owner of the statue when she delivers a son. Chimti also says that she can pray Ramji on behalf of Gau to get a son but cannot stop Bharti from having a son. If Bharti delivers a son then her mother would naturally give the statue to Bharti (I kept wondering what happens if both of them deliver a boy or if Gau delivers a girl and Bharti a boy. From looking at cheapskate Chimti, I could not stop thinking that she would even go to the extent of switching kids to satisfy her greed for money and wealth). Gau's thoughts get distracted when Mridang comes walking through the door calling "Gaushu". He gives her a hug and asks how is my future body builder son's mom. She notices two bags in his hands and asks what is in those bags and tells him to stop hugging her as someone would notice them. He tells we are husband and wife and there is no shame in hugging and asks her to come to their room.

In Mridala's room, Mridaing puts up cute pictures of baby boys all over their wall. Gau smiles and asks him if he bought the entire shop. Mridang says that it was closing time otherwise he was in a mood to purchase another ten or fifteen pictures as every one of them looked cute and he could not decide on which ones to buy. Gau is blushing and says that she never thought that he would do such sweet lovable endearing things. Mridang says that he knows about how a pregnant woman should be surrounded by happy people and cute pictures of babies so the baby born will also be a happy baby. (Cute pictures of babies are OK, but is your monstrous no good MIL a good person to be around your wife). He keeps talking about how he would make his son a doctor, singer or may be a cricketer. Even if he doesn't choose any one of the above profession, he would make him a police officer . Gau tsks saying what you thought and what you are saying now. Mridang says that police officer is a good profession. In comes Chimti and says that you said it right SIL. Mridang wonders whose face did he see first thing in the morning that Chimti is agreeing with what he said and this is the first time that she has agreed on something that he had uttered. Chimti says that you are wishing for a boy and that's the best thing you have done so far. Mridang says what boy.. Then he turns around and looks at the pictures and says OMG I did not think about a boy when I bought these pictures. He smiles and says that there is definitely a superior power's hand is in this as he also wants them to have a boy. He says that he would play with his son, teach him how to box, etc.

Chimti says that we can only wish for a boy and what happens if Gau gets a girl. Mridang is very sweet and as any proud dad would say he says if it is a girl it will be their little girl (Mridang and Gau's daughter) and they will treat her like a princess and marry her off to a prince. He leaves the room letting them to chat amongst themselves (as though this NO GOOD WOMAN has not talked enough). As usual Chimti gets this notion out of thin air that Mridang indirectly said no for a girl although he said yes. She says that his actions speak for it as he left the room right after she brought the topic of a girl. Gau gets angry and says that where is she taking this conversation and why is it necessary to look at everything in a wrong perspective and paint a bad picture. She also says that she (Chimti) is set on ruining the peace and harmony of the house. Chimti asks her to calm down and think things through and says no man wants to call himself a dad for a daughter. She also says that if Gau is unlucky like her and gave birth to a girl then the husband would leave the wife just like how it happened to her ( Her husband probably left her because he couldn't handle her thieving, conniving, meddling traits. Most of all he probably went bankrupt feeding this woman who does nothing but eat all the time) Gau comforts her mom and tells her not to worry. But Chimti says that it is a must that Gau delivers a boy and she is going to make sure that Gau delivers a boy as she does not want her to suffer and live a lonely life without a son to take care in old age. She also brainwashes Gau saying that if Bharti delivers a boy then she will rule the house as she brought the waaris. Gau is completely under the spell of this NO GOOD woman and I am convinced that she has crossed over completely to the evil side. Lord save Bharti! But it is Bharti who brought this upon herself by bringing this greedy Mridala back.

In the garden, Kamla is planting some plants and Dhara comes over to talk to her. Dhara sits next to her and tells her that she had concerns about Bharti learning the skills and ways to get along and manage things in a big family like the Laals as Bharti comes from a small family of three. Kamla gets the flashback of Chimti crying about Bharti blaming her as the thief and her scolding Bharti (which we all know was uncalled for). Dhara says that she no longer has those concerns as Bharti is well accustomed and looks and behaves as though she is born and brought up in Laal family. However, Dhara says that Bharti has lot more to learn. She says that Kamla has all the right to scold her and make her understand the right ways just like she would do and requests Kamla to take care of Bharti just like how she is taking care of her plants. Being Kamini she is, Kamla just gets up and walks over to a plant that is uprooted and talks about how the health/survival of a plant depends on it roots which needs to be strong and can survive even if everything else is weak. Kamla analogizes that family is also like a plant and its DILs are its roots who should be able to withstand any kind of hardships and just like how a root would uphold a plant in all seasons, the DILs should uphold and keep their family together. (We all know that all of this is one sided and only applies to Bharti and not to Gau or Jhumka). Kamla leaves Dhara alone and says that she has to go and prepare lunch. Both Bharti and Bansi overhear this entire conversation between Dhara and Kamla.

Bharti runs back to her room crying and Bansi sees Bharti cry and goes over to talk to Kamla. (We can tell that Bansi is genuinely a nice guy ) Bansi questions Kamla if she is doing the right thing putting Bharti through all of this just for the sake of Gau's mom and he also asks her if he had to remind her of the kind of woman she is. Way to Go Bansi! Kamla says that it is not about Gau's mom but it is about the traits of the DILs of this house. Kamla says that she never accused Bharti of lying and all she did was to make sure that Bharti does not do anything knowingly or unknowingly to destroy the peace and harmony of the house that was obtained after a long struggle. Bansi gets upset and asks her how can she even think that Bharti would do anything bad when she is the one who gave up everything for the peace and harmony of this house. Bansi did an excellent job today driving home the point that how Kamla handled the situation was not right. He also tells that if she really thinks of Bharti as her daughter then she should be treating her like her daughter and not treat like how a MIL would treat her DIL.

In Bharti's room, Dhara is consoling crying Bharti and telling her not to feel bad about what Kamla said. Bharti says that she is not upset or angry with Kamla and she is only concerned and wondering what is that she did to make Kamla angry and she is not able to stand up to her expectations. Kamla is at the door and watching Bharti crying on her mom's shoulders. Dhara senses the situation and leaves the two alone. Kamla asks why Bharti is crying and Bharti stutters. Kamla asks would she be crying any time she scolds her. She says that she would do the same to Veena if Veena makes any mistakes and treats them both the same. She also says that Bharti is no different than Veena and to her both of them are daughters, but asks why Bharti is differentiating between her and her mom and does not accept her (Kamla) as her mom. Bharti says no mom and hugs her. They both get emotional and cry.

Kamla says that even when parents scold their kids there is love and affection in their scolding. She has kept the family together for these many years (Don't we all know what she did and how she handled her family. Please Lady! Give us a break and stop the baashan) She also says that it becomes her responsibility to train Bharti the ways and means to keep the family together and her way of teaching Bharti was to scold her (PLLLEEAASSEE) and does she have to write a note to say how much she loves her. She also tells Bharti not to worry about anything and wipes Bharti's tears. They both wipe each other's tears. Dhara sees this from outside and feels better that they have made up and wipes away her tears (It seemed like a pity party. Cry Cry Cry and more Cry. Tons of glycerin wasted. Hmmm)

Veena calls "mom" saying that the mid-wife is here and Kamla tells Bharti that this is the woman who is going to deliver her and Gau's babies (Haven't you heard of so called doctors and hospitals. Which century are you in lady ??) Kamla asks Bharti to freshen up and come down.

(Hats off to all the people who do the WU. What a tiring task..) This is my first WU and it is a very LOOONNNG update. Bear with me guys. Hit LIKE if this update was any good.

THE END.

@kt25
Good Job on the written update! Long enough, not dragging it too much. Also the small and neat comments in red were quite good, reflects the feelings as while watching the episode.

I so missed Murli in this episode 😭 hopefully he is there in tonight's episode!!!

@kt25, you have done a remarkable job...its a great update. thanks for doing it for all of us.

there has always been a debate, 'is the bahu, a daughter for a mother in law?'
'does a mother in law has the same leverage over a bahu, that she enjoys over her own daughter?'

i really enjoyed watching the second half of today's episode...it had two very interesting points.

one, the wonderful job done by bansi laal...he was superb today...he could have made his wife realized her mistake, and he did it...
there were some solid questions by him for kamla, that satisfied me as an audience... the other day, i had mentioned in another thread that somehow i always liked his style...

second, the conversation between bharti and kamla...it was pretty good...
we can differ on whether or not we liked kamla and her way of handling the matter...but the stuff shown was definitely good.

here comes my question, at this point...will a bahu be like the real daughter for a mother in law?

i think i am enjoying the show, except the chimti part...i hate her from the core of my heart...

First update or not - awesome job 👍🏼
If Chimti hates girls so much, what's she doing alive? Go, find some cyanide and take it for not being a waaris to your parents!!!
If the baby switch is to be avoided, ideal would be if both of them have boys, or both have girls. Other option - Bharti has a normal height girl, and Gau a midget boy. I'd love to watch Chimti agonize over that one. 😈
On Hashbrown's question, depends on the relationships b/w saas & bahu. In some serials, like Devi, PKCM and Jyoti, I saw some pretty good ones. In Devi, Lakshmi & her MIL. In PKCM, Paro & Kadambari. In Jyoti, the best saas-bahu combo who really justified the bahu being called beti was Padma-Poonam!!!
So they've now screwed up Kamala's character, while kept Bansi as is? Just so that once Chimti leaves, they can retain her as a negative? So typical.
Incidentally, commenting about someone's observations yesterday about Kartik's parting remarks to Murli and how right it was, I agree that Kartik now looks vindicated. What's more, I never thought that Ashtik were worse than Gau: when Kamala told them all that they would live there, Ashtik were satisfied, but it was Murari who kept fueling their greed, just like Chimti is w/ Gau. But now, I think Chimti is even worse than Murari as far as Bharli goes: while Murari would have kicked out Bansi & family, he'd have retained Bharli there, whereas Chimti wants to get half of everything for Mridala and presumably Jhumroo. If Kamala called the police due to her own devar Murari, how is she pulling Bharti over the rug, and not seeing thru any of Chimti's antics?

@kt25 I LOVED your annotations !!!! Seriously i agree with all them! 👍🏼

I'm just thinking that bansi is nice but he take his time before doing anything since the beginning of this show... :/

fantastic job as your first WU !

I agree 100% when you say that "all of this is one sided and only applies to Bharti and not to Gau or Jhumka" 😵

I was also missing murli but he have to ring money home.

Am i the only one wondering where does Mridang find the money to buy the pictures of baby? (as you said kt25 no need for money since the MIL is around the baby ahahah 😆)

@hashbrown agree 100% on that :"we can differ on whether or not we liked kamla and her way of handling the matter...but the stuff shown was definitely good."
I don't if they are good actor or what but this scene was really good! I'll rewatch it later because your question ("will a bahu be like the real daughter for a mother in law? ") is a good matter to think of !

treating a bahu like your own daughter, Kehne aur Karne me bahut fargh hota hai,
Kamala talks about how Barti is like her own daughter then why does she treat her different. I wasnt satisfied, the way she shu'ed away murli, when she was having ago at barti, i think it was damn out of order😈. i never have seen her do that to mridang or gausu once, after so many mistakes they are still spoken with great love & respect! May be if she had ago at gau & Mridang like that in the past, maybe they wouldnt have been scheeming so much against the family.
I cant believe she blamed barti like this 😡 because there has never been any peace in her family until recently when barti has made it possible, 😲so i think she needs to learn a few things from Barti instead.
Duniya saab matlabi hota hai, and after everything she has done, i have not heard her personally thank barti for her efforts, infact Gausu acknowledged this more than she did & i think kamala is using murli too. I think the only person who genuinly loves him in his family is his bauji. All of them seem to have so many faces, which cannot be trusted.
I believe the history will repeat itself, and murli will be in the same position as barti's father was, being betrayed by his family and having same worry for his kid.

Great update kt25 - who would have thought it's your first one :) This whole thing is now literally dragging and it's taking me to actually get back into the show...I mean how greedy does one have to be? Gau being brainwashed has she suddenly forgotten all that Bharti did and she's pretty much gave everything to them yet she wants more even if the driving force is Chimti (can't include Mridang in this- he's pretty decent if he wasn't wrapped round Gau's fingers he could have such a better person wha a shame!) and Kamla I still can't belive that she's forgotten everything that Bharti aswell as Gau have done- thought if one DIL is meant to learn a lesson then why hadn't she talked to Gau about her behaviour? So one's DIL's happiness is important then the other? And as Hashbrown pointed about the DIL and daughter...can someone honestly belive that Veena would have been treated like that? I don't think so...and I'm glad Bansi pointed that out...that she acted like a saas then a maa...loved the fact he told her off!!!! Anyway I just wish the whole chimti storyline is over!!!

CVs biggest mistake is this Chimti Evil Witch character. Totally hate her to the core and there is no justification to the character or the things she said. At least I could understand the things that came out of Murari n Co but this Witch is uncalled for at any level.
This is a grave error on their part!!!😈

@ALL - Thank you all for your kind comments.
As I had posted in the WU, what happens if both have a boy or both have a girl. If both have a boy, are they going to split the statue and if they both have a girl, then none of them get the statue. Dhara should have just kept it to herself and not revealed until the time is right. As if there is not enough jealously and greed in the house she had to introduce this new added headache in the midst
@bavd - I was thinking of the same thing when Mridang got all those pictures. Where does he get the money?? We don't see him going to any kind of work. May be he gets spending money from Kamla.
@Vrish - You are so right. If it was so hard for Chimti then why is she even alive. She should have taken her own life and would have saved us all the viewers from the rage and agony that she is putting us through.
@hashbrwon - Allthough Bharti and Kamla have made up, I still feel that Kamla is flaky and she is like a cat on the wall which can swing either way and then call it her responsibility to train the DILs. Would she have take the same approach to Gau, Jhumka or Veena. I don't think so. We will have to see.
