Ba Bahoo Aur Baby's Deven Bhojani, Paresh Ganatra and JD Majethia recently returned from a holiday with their families

Winter wonderland: JD Majethia with his wife Nipa and daughters Kesar and Misri at the Santa Claus Park in Rovaniemi, Finland

Buddies Deven Bhojani (Gattu of Ba Bahoo Aur Baby), Paresh Ganatra (Pravin of Ba Bahoo Aur Baby) and J D Majethia (producer of the show) recently took off for a holiday with their families to Scandinavia. The trio visited Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland, and returned with plenty of pleasant memories.

Says J D, "Initially, we thought of Switzerland, but our travel agent suggested Scandinavia. We did not regret that decision even for a minute."

Natural charm

Their first halt was Helsinki, after which they moved on to Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm. "We criss-crossed through these countries by rail and road, and even took a cruise in Oslo.

The natural scenery there is breathtaking. There's snow, waterfalls, greenery and the sky is full of seagulls. It is so distinct from any place we've been to so far. Scandanavia has a unique charm.

It's not a big travel hotspot so it isn't packed with tourists. Moreover, these places are so sparsely populated you hardly see people on the streets. The population of these countries must be what we see on a single evening at Churchgate station!" says JD.

Among the marvels they visited included the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, one of the oldest amusement parks in the world, built in the 19th century. "We were told that Disneyland was inspired by Tivoli," says JD.

"The Ice Park at Helsinki was another experience as everything in it is made of ice. In Oslo, at the Vigeland Sculpture Park, there are hundreds of life-size sculptures.

We took a short Cessna flight over Oslo, which offered a marvellous view of the place and we could co-pilot the chopper too! The Santa Claus Park in Rovaniemi in Finland was another treat for the kids."

Souvenir shopping

Besides the famous spots, the Ba Bahoo Aur Baby actors were surprised to see the number of restaurants serving Indian food in that part of the world. "We ate stuff which we don't even have at home, complete with naan and roti," chorus the trio.

These countries are not exactly a shopper's haven except for souvenirs and knick-knacks as things are expensive here, but "we suggest the only thing to do here is soak in nature's breathtaking beauty!"
