Very few things can be proof of itself. The citation simply confirms there was a loophole. I believe the question was how the loophole was practiced. Ie, what was the thought process behind and what were the preconditions.

PS. Valid citations are ones from accepted texts. Media articles, even from high profile journals, are written by people from today. This is why most ACADEMIC journals require citations to back up statements. While this forum is not academic, most are here for meaningful discussion I believe. Therefore, it behooves us also to use valid citations.

This is not moral policing as I don't see any morality or immorality involved. This is about not wanting to come away with wrong info.

You may have guessed by the title of what I am going to talk about.

Remember when the Pandavas newly got exiled after the second Dice Game, Bheeshm and Vidur talk about the convincing Dhritarashtra to call the Pandavas back after the 13th day of exile as according to Shastras, in special circumstances, 13 days equals 13 years.

I would like to know more about this topic if anyone has any idea or information. I have tried to look in the internet but was not so lucky.

Please give your feedback. Sorry if already posted.

Regardless of whether that superstition itself is or ain't valid, there is nothing in KMG that suggests that that's what happened. If CE or BORI or any other source confirms this aspect of the episode, that would be welcome here

The 13 years in 13 days finds a mention in the epic. But, I'm totally ignorant of its history and the special cases in which it was taken into consideration. 🤔

I don't think Vedas mention this. Maybe the Puranas like the Garuda Purana have such instructions and special cases.

Vedas don't have it Garuda Purana has a lot of details about 13 days post death. It doesn't have anything about 13 years substituted with 13 days.

Garuda Purana primarily deals with death, rituals concerning funerals, and what happens to a Jiiva after death till it gets reborn
