People I have some confusion

Nakul Sahdev are twins but are from different fathers (who themselves were twins)

To have them together, Madri must have undergone Niyog with both of them either simultaneously or within a small time span.

In such condition how can we conclude as to which father resulted in which son (or maybe the same father resulted in two sons)

How did they determine the parentage of these both

The likelihood of twins having diff fathers is not zero but is very, very low as to be negligible.

More likely, the father was a twin since Madri is not reported to have any twins on her side of the family. In this case, my vote is on Dhaumya since he was a twin. (Asita had 2 sons - Devala/Dhaumya, Krishna's foster cousins who generationally were much older to him)

The other possibility is that she was taking natural fertility stimulants (they do exist). This would've caused ovarian hyperstimulation, leading to 2 eggs being released in same cycle. Nakula and Sahdev were fraternal twins, so this is a possibility.

Maybe one person performed the niyog and twins were born to her?

Had they been told to be sons of the same father, there would have been no confusion. But the texts clearly state that both had different father. Nakul is stated the son of Dasara n Sahdev of Natasya

My question actually was that how did they conclude after the birth of the children as to who was the son of which father assuming the Niyog either happened simultaneously or within a few days

Because ancient belief was that twins had to have diff fathers. Women were even killed for adultery on the basis of this.

How would that be biologically possible tho?

(I have little knowledge on biology, it's a genuine question) 😂😂

If the woman produces 2 eggs in a cycle, and one gets fertilized with one man and the 2nd with another who has sex with her within that period. It is very, very unusual, though. Not impossible.

Is it so?? I didn't know that. But then people had 100 children they needed to be born multiple at a time, how did they justify that

Adoption, concubines... plus, I assume not everyone was callous enough to assume the wife cheated.

Heracles is supposed to be Zeus's offspring if you're familiar with Greek mytho, while his twin was fathered by his mother's husband.

I have heard about this in Greek history, but didn't know this was the same in Indian history too

I meant how did they conclude which

father resulted in which son.

For example if a girl has relations with two people (twins) in a week. After nine months she gives birth to twins.

These kids could be both of one of the twins or each of the twin has one kid each.

All probability accepted but how could one be sure as to which of these possibilities is true
