in PS you can import your video and immediately make frames , but in IR you have no video option , but folder option , so here you first make frames by yourself and then come into IR to make an avi.

for making avis in PS you should have an MPEG/MP4 video and "Quick Time" installed.
These are a must.
Then go to PS-File<Import<Videos as frames.
Select the length of your video you want to gif and set the capture per frame and you're done.

In Image Ready:
You should have a video player that allows you to capture each frame of a scene manually.
One good one is FLVPlayer4.
download an FLV format video or convert your video to FLV.
While your video plays in FLVPlayer you keep tapping the "C" key on your keyboard to capture every single frame per seamless second.
All captures will be saved in "My Pictures."
Make a folder for the captures there.
Now go to IR<File<Import<Folder as Frames.
your captures will now come as frames in one document like they do in PS.
theres also a "KMPlayer" where the captures will be automatically done with certain settings.

You can see the difference in the number of steps in PS n IR , so if your PS works good enough dont attempt avi making in IR.
but if your PS is sick of you like mine is IR does wonders that PS will never be able to.:)
