Kiran back in Astitva

Kamya Punjabi Astitva, Ek Prem Kahani (Zee) will soon have the character of Kiran (Kamya Punjabi) back on the show. Punjabi played the role of an ambitious NRI girl, who wanted to make it big as a model. Kiran fell in love with Abhimanyu (Varun Badola), knowing he was married. Thus began the Kiran-Abhimanyu-Simran (Nikki Aneja Walia) triangle. After the age leap, Kiran was missing from Astitva. Explaining the need to get her back, director Ajai Sinha says, "The character of Kiran is very important to the story. Even though she isn't there in the present track, her re-entry will make the show more exciting." Kiran will return in August. "We will be shooting in Igatpuri with Kamya," says the director. So, will the focus shift back to the Abhi-Simran-Kiran triangle? "Not really, the story has moved forward in a big way. Of course, Kiran's feelings for Abhi haven't changed." Commenting on Kiran's look he says, "She won't be wearing boring saris. We will dress her in stylish westerns — something you see in these page 3 parties." Asked about her comeback, Punjabi says, "I am very excited to be back. However, I am just concerned about how mature Kiran will look now. I actually want her to look older. However, I trust Ajai-ji completely and believe he will do justice to the character." Punjabi is also seen as Nethra, in Zee's Reth. Thanks To Mid-day.com

Kamya Punjabi quits 'Rihhaee'

Kamya Punjabi (the other woman in Zee's Reth) is out of Sony's Rihhaee. The actress could not handle the two shows together, we hear.

Better 'Reth' than 'Rihhaee'?

"Earlier I was told by the Rihhaee team that I would be required for only seven or eight days in a month. Now, they want block dates for the entire month. Since I am also doing Reth, which in fact, had happened to me much earlier than Rihhaee, I could not do what they wanted," she says ruefully.

But why choose Reth over Rihhaee? "I did what was ethically correct. I don't think their new and sudden demand was justified. Rihhaee has not been able to build a bank as was promised me earlier," she quips.

Cut to the show's creative head, Sharad Raj. Interestingly, Raj passed the buck on to Reth. "Reth does not have a bank. Moreover, Kamya's role has increased in that serial," he offers. While Kamya says that her character has not been terminated logically, Raj claims that it was not required anymore. "We have changed the format a bit, which would show that Kamya has moved on in life. I have brought in Kishwar, but she is not a replacement for Kamya per se. Kishwar is a new character in the NCCW team." Till date, Kishwar has acted in many serials, including Sony's Dhadkan and Sahara's Kagaar.

"We parted amicably. There is no bitterness," concludes Kamya. Amen.

Hey, does anybody know if Kamya was in the Subhash Ghai film "Yaadein"?

I saw the movie this weekend and i think she plays Kareena's friend in Malaysia during the cycling contest. She had a short hair cut - kind of like Sia's old haircut.

Is it really her in Yaadein?

many issues will be there.. it's great to start having the old stars coming back.. 😛 I feel this will bring back the originality to the serial again..
