TV actor Niki Aneja Walia tells BT that she chants the Om mantra when she's stressed out

I"don't believe in astrology. I've never consulted an astrologer. I believe in what my father used to preach, and I live by this motto 'Have faith in yourself '. There is no power bigger than yourself. I do read zodiac predictions purely for fun. I am not all superstitious, though my mother is a little superstitious about evil eye and nazar. I do not believe in gemstones but since the last few years, I have been wearing a blue sapphire stone purely for aesthetic reasons. I love the blue stone and have designed the ring myself. I also wear my Om ring daily and have been wearing it for the last 13 years and when I am stressed out, I chant Om.
I believe in a power above us all and am extremely fond of Lord Ganesh and call him 'Gannu' my friend. I have Ganeshas at home in all forms and shapes and materials. He is my source of strength. I worship Guru Nanak, Devi ma and Shirdi Saibaba also. I don't believe that few days of life are auspicious and others are not. Each moment is a gift of life. I personally feel that success has nothing to do with astrology or gemology. One becomes successful in life with hard work, honesty and discipline. I have struggled in my career too. Faith takes belief as its core and propels you to start moving; your faith in your ability keeps you focussed on goals and diminishes emotional distractions of doubt, fear, and anxiety.
