There was this article a few days back, where the director of the show said that since the actress who plays Astha is leaving, they are just going to bump the character off the show, meaning that Astha will br killed in an accident... In the same accident, Simran will lose her eyes...

They could have just sent Aastha to medical school or something. Or bring in a new Aastha.
