He never had a good childhood. He had to drag his mother's dead body around town to find a place to bury it because most burial places rejected him. He dug the ground with his small hands just to give his mother a proper burial. He almost died from cold and hunger, he was framed for a sin he didn't commit, he was used to committing crimes and kill thousands of people, he was used as a puppet to trample the cultivation world causing for him to be hated by everyone, leading for him to lose his newfound family, to hurt his benefactor, to hurt the person he loves.
He only wanted to walk on the righteous path. He wanted to be like his Shizun, he wanted to have a weapon like Tianwen to save earthworms, to save people. He wanted to be someone who could stand side by side with Yuheng of the Night Sky, Beidou Immortal. But because he loved too much, he sacrificed himself. He was then deprived of feelings like happiness and joy as if it was a sin for him to feel those things. All he felt was anger and hatred and the need to kill and kill. He was forced to believe in a lie. A lie created for him to hate the world. He doesn't even know why he was so obsessed with Chu Wanning when he wanted this person to die when he wanted this person to suffer. Why did he want to keep this person by his side so much? Didn't he hate him? Without knowing it, Mo Ran wanted to be free from this hatred. But even death didn't free him.
I really pity Mo Ran's character. A child who wanted to do good things was forced to walk on a path stained with blood.
