TFS! ... I thought the show may have exaggerated a bit. But they actually downplayed the actual living condition! According to her, NKians only get electricity for "an hour - once a week" .. š±š±š±š±š±š± .. Also no lights after 10pm, not even lamp posts/Streetlights! š¢
They also need approval visa like paperwork to travel within the country! š±š±š± .. Holy mother of Jesus! Literally slave life!
No wonder many like to be defectors like her!
I don't understand why such strict living condition even if under communism kinda government. SMLH!
I dropped Love Lasts Forever after episode 4. I felt like that was a good ending for me š¤£
Tried watching it seeing you guys talk about it! But couldn't even finish half way through the 1st Ep!
I guess I just don't like how Japanese dramas are shot. There is something very weird how they look and feel! š¤
Plus actors aren't always easy on the eyes esp one look at ML's teeth and I ran away! š¤£

I know what you mean. It's one of the biggest reasons I am not able to watch more than few episodes 𤣠It feels like I've gone back few years. Their cinamatography is a bit outdated idk.
I thought the ML was hot when I saw Socklet's MV but the show showed him differently wtf š¤Æ
Anyhow, I totally get you š
Sam, you watching Itaewon Class?!

Have been binging on various Asian shows for the past few months... Needed a place to discuss.
The Untamed: It kinda brought me back to Asian Dramas after a long-ish hiatus. The storytelling is fairly straightforward but the show has a very peculiar crack factor that makes one obsessed... the episodes flew by like nothing, pure crack in a show form.. the central character's arc was fascinating, Wuixian has to be one of the most intriguing leads in any show and Xiao Zhan does a great job.. the bonding between the male leads was charming despite the lack of visible romance.. goes on to show how the stalest of romantic tropes can be improved by switching the gender sometimes. The action, the fantasy factor etc were decently executed, the acting by the supporting cast was average imho. Must Watch.
TharnType: I was in the mood for some BLs after The Untamed, so I watched three more...Started with this.. it's a very popular Thai BL.. had a LOT of problems with the plot, the cringy acting at times, but the chemistry between the male leads was amazing. Probably the only M/M pair who weren't remotely awkward in the kissing scenes. Worth it only for the brilliant chemistry, otherwise, skip.
Sotus: Second BL after The Untamed and this was IT. The actors aren't super visually appealing but the series was actually a good watch and the main romance was very tenderly done.. If you want to watch a decent BL series or even a decent enemies-to-lovers series that will make your heart race.. watch this.
Addicted: The infamous Chinese BL drama that got banned midway... the consent issue in this show...ooof.. however the show is genuinely well made and well-acted.. the theme of Brokeback was haunting.. the characters were well-written.. the series was cinematic I'd say.. However, if consent issues make you uncomfortable definitely do not watch it...
Strangers from Hell: I thought it was excellent... I really like Siwan so I gave it a go and people weren't exaggerating about it being good.. Very addictive and haunting but don't watch it while eating... It gave off the vibes of Hannibal which is one of my favorite shows so I genuinely enjoyed it... LDW's acting was a pleasant surprise in this...
Arthdal Chronicles: Extraordinary is the word... Some confusion, excessive exposition and abrupt ending aside, this was a flawed masterpiece and one of the most unique dramas that S.Kor has produced... I'm sure they probably hate the show there because it's so different from the usual Korean historical or fantasy or mytho stuff.. I have heard the GoT comparisons but that's like saying Hannibal and True Detective are similar because they're both thrillers and involve detectives... The lengthy world and character-building can be frustrating at times but this is an epic in its true sense... The empire as the rotten symbol of oppression, themes of slavery and power, the concepts of how royalty and godhood are achieved and how they are maintained.. it reminds me of I, Claudius in its grand-scale narrative. The first episode was quite slow but you're missing out if you aren't sticking to it for a bit and watch it blossom. All the characters are fascinating, especially Tagon and Taelha... surprisingly, Tagon's narrative is the central plot despite Eunseom being the supposed protagonist... If I had a complaint it would be this... Tagon works very well as a tragic antihero of Shakespearean proportions but Eunseom's story deserved more spotlight because his godhood was fascinating to me.. Tanya was an interesting and very intelligent heroine with a well-built arc... Saya is, well, he is a difficult figure to understand and explain but I definitely was mildly obsessed with his thought process as we went deeper... Props to Song Joong Ki for pulling two wildly different characters off so well. I'll be honest I didn't like DOTS at all and found nothing charming about him in it but this show changed my mind.. this dude is a very capable actor. Less annoying romances and more of this, please.
Kingdom: Was and am obsessed with it... I love Korean zombie content, didn't even know this was a genre that could be so entertaining. The acting was decent in this.. Bae Doona had nothing to do, hopefully, season two gives her something. I liked the themes of power struggles woven in.. excited for the next season. But Netflix needs to stop this annoying seasonal concept. American shows frustrate me for this very reason and I only watch miniseries now.
