Hey just read last few updates...nice story...

I hope Riya isn't in any trouble and who was that guy stalking her, she should have told arjun about him and why is arjun getting such negative vibes...hope everything is okay

Chapter 7

It's been a week since the day Riya was followed and to her absolute relief, she never saw the man or anyone else following her again. She'd always look over the shoulder, looking out for anyone or anything suspicious but would let out a deep sigh when she noticed nothing of the sort. Arjun had asked her a couple of times if she was okay and she'd absolutely agreed she was. Still, it seemed a big thing that Arjun had bought the lie. Had something happened and he'd found out, Riya was done for.

Presently she was sitting across him in "their" cabin, his head hung low reading over a file. She watched on as his eyes systematically followed each line, sometimes staying put on something before finally moving on. An epitome of stillness, except for the pen twirling between his fingers, her boss looked as he always did in his natural habitat; tense, attentive and stoic.

"And whatever it is I'm fine with it hurting me. I can't loose you Riya. Not again. You've kept me alive Riya" his voice rung in her ears.

Riya could not help but wonder if Arjun was on the road to love, her love. She had already crossed that road and was waiting patiently for him at the very end of it. What with his overprotective instincts towards her, Riya had absolutely no idea where to place his behaviour towards her. Arjun was a complicated man to understand.

As if reading her thoughts, Arjun lifted his head and caught her looking or rather staring at him. Riya numbed for a second, and then buried herself into her file. Arjun raised his eyebrows, smiled and then turned away. This girl would be the death of him...

"And you didn't hear anything?" Riya asked the old woman.

"No beta, you see I have hearing implants and I take a nap in the afternoon and remove the implants then. It's is quite possible that something must've happened and I didn't hear it" she explained.

ETF was investigating the murder of the teenage girl who was found dead in her house, when her parents were away. Six bullets were found in her body and naturally it was an important case, what with the media pouncing on the opportunity to ridicule the police. As per their procedures, Arjun and Riya went about asking questions to other residents in the building.

Presently they were sitting across an old woman, in her eighties, in her house. The living room was scantily decorated the only pop of colour coming from the obnoxious amount of wind chimes hanging by the window.

"Why do you have so many wind chimes?" Arjun asked, inquisitive.

The old lady looked upon them fondly as if rekindling some sweet memories and said with a smile, "My husband bought me these. According to some old Turkish beliefs wind chimes were considered a good omen. It is said if you see wind chimes in your dreams, you relationship grows... uhhh intimately... both physically and emotionally"

The duo exchanged a glance at the emotional exaggeration of a wind chime. Trust people to make anything out of everything. The woman looked between the two of them and said "You two look good together. May the Almighty bless you both with happiness and love.".

Riya looked horrified, damn sure a rude remark from her boss is on the way. But to her surprise, Arjun gazed at her fondly and later turned to the lady " Thank you.", a ghost of a smile on his lips.

And for a second Riya forgot how to breathe.

"No one hears anything yet six bullets were drilled into the body of a 16 year old" Yash voiced out, his eyes on the evidence board.

"Silencer" Aisha replied. "Sir, Ballistic reports ke hisaab se 9mm ammunition bullets hai. And as per the reports kisi maxim 9 jaisa prototype hai. Kaafi expensive hai."

"What have we got? Friends, Family?" Arjun asked.

"Zyada friends nahi the sir, she was quite the loner. Kaafi studious thi sir. School se ghar and vice versa. Family ka kehna hai ke hamesha apne room Mein padhti rehti. Her parents left for Pune two days ago and she was alone. Lekin they've been doing this for years now. " The techie replied.

" Teachers ka bhi wahi kehna hai sir, I've cross checked. "Chotu confirmed." Haan lekin everyone noticed ki woh kaafi pareshan lag rahi thi kuch dino se. Teachers ko laga aane wale exams le liye pareshan hogi. Ek toh mujhe samjh nai aate, ye toppers kyu itna pareshan hote hai Yaar? "

" Exams se toh sab darte hai. Toppers ho ya na ho. Peer pressure badhjata hai na "Aisha points out.

Just then the crime journo entered, a red box in her hands. Shree raises his eyebrows, while Arjun pretends to ignore.

Mustering all her courage, Sakshi stands beside Arjun's chair, fidgeting the box in her hands.

" This should be interesting" Yash whispered in Riya's ears, a smirk on his face.

Riya could feel heat rise in her cheeks and eyes. Here she was wondering if Arjun likes her and there was Sakshi,already taking giant leaps towards the man she loved. Calming her nerves, Riya reached for the water bottle, when Sakshi opened the box.

Arjun looked up at the sound of something, tiny bits of metal striking against each other and to his absolute horror he saw..... wind chimes.

Riya choked on her water, unable to control her laughter. Beside her Yash patted her back, silently asking her if she was okay and she nodded. This definitely is interesting, she thought.

"WHAT THE HELL SAKSHI"

"Ky..... Kya... Kya hua Arjun? Ye toh bas wind chimes hai? Aaj jab Mein aarrahi thi toh i saw this and immediately thought of yo....." before the journalist could even complete her sentence, the research specialist burst into a fit of laughter.

Riya was jealous when she saw Sakshi giving Arjun something but when she saw" that" and his response, she couldn't help laugh at him, her jealousy going down the drain.

Arjun glared at her, silently shooting daggers at her, contemplating is Riya was indeed responsible for this. "Riya did you..." he trailed off.

The research specialist straightened, yet the smile never left "Of course NOT. I didn't even touch my phone. Also I don't even have her number. Maybe it's a good omen" she smirked at her disappointed boss.

The team just looked on, wondering what in the world was going on.

"Really? You think so? So should I ..." Arjun left the sentence hanging. He could most definitely read the jealousy in her eyes.

Riya gaped at him, her eyes boring holes into his body, not even bothering to answer.

"Arjun, dekho na kitne ache hai ye? Mein Sirf tumhare liye laayi hoon" Sakshi whined, unhappy with her crush's response. "Itne pyaar se laayi hoon" and that elicited another laugh from Riya.

"Sorry. Sorry. Continue Sakshi"

Yash pulled Riya to a side and asked "Ho kya raha hai ye?". Riya just smiled and narrated him the events of earlier that day.

Yash couldn't believe his ears but pulled up at the opportunity to tease his best friend, something he loved doing.

"Haan lelo na Arjun. Itne pyaar se tumhare liye ye tohfa aaya hai." he teased, pleased as he saw Arjun groaning.

The tough cop's eyes landed on the research specialist who looked at the proceeding with hawk eyes, waiting with bated breathe to see his response. At first Arjun thought of playing along but the idea of hurting Riya this way, even for a prank was beneath him.

He turned to Sakshi, careful not touch the dangling object in her hands. He grabbed her hands and threw the chimes on the ground, shattering the plastic and glass into pieces.

There would be one less thing to worry. Hopefully

Riya slowly made her way towards the locker room, it was time for her to take her medication. The bottle in her cabin had ran out and thankfully, thankfully she kept another bottle in her locker. Otherwise a furious Arjun would've dragged her to the hospital, all the while lecturing her about her carelessness and she didn't need that, not when things were going so well with them.

Finding her locker, she put the key in the keyhole and opens it.

Riya wasn't prepared for what fell on her. Heavy, blue balls. She shrieked, a blood curling scream resonated in the air and she tumbles away, trembling, only one word in her mind.
