Chapter 5: She is hurt

At ETF Premises Morning 10'0 clock

Everyone sitting inside the conference room. Rathod is going through the previous case files, Arjun is sipping his favorite cutting-chai and other people of EFT is working on the case reports which are pending for prolonged time. All of a sudden Rathod mobile ringed to indicate a case to EFT, he carefully listened to the other person who is talking on the other side.

After winding up the call, he looked at the team, "Team, We have a case, high court judge Mr.Adithya Agarwal was murdered in his own cabin yesterday night, and he was supposed to be joined as a supreme court chief justice.

Everyone looked shocked to hear this news, Chotu said absentmindedly," God, Now criminals have guts to enter into court premises and murder the judge itself, What a shame!"

Rathod looked at him irritatingly and Chotu closed his mouth before the chief could burst on him.

"No Chotu, The criminal is not from outside" Arjun and Riya said together.

His brown eyes met her deep black ones for a moment, but as usual, Arjun averted his gaze, before her heated gaze starts to melt his cold heart. But Riya is looking at his face when he turned his gaze away from her.

Once their eyes met, they both would forget the world around them, but it was always Arjun who is tearing his gaze, This becomes routine for the entire team watching them as a silent spectator.

Rathod cleared his throat, to bring both of them to the real world and said," Let's go to the crime spot before media creates buzzing over this case".

ETF left in two different cars towards the crime spot.

At High Court

A man in the late 50's lying on the ground with bruises all over the body and his face was badly damaged.
The files, chairs, and bookshelves everything scattered on the ground.

" Liza get the body for postmortem and I need the report within 4 hours, Riya collect his last few month verdict case details, Sree tap on the calls of his clients, juniors and his co-workers and Chotu keep a watch on this place for any unusual movements of people" Rathod ordered his team.

"Rawte and Ayesha, you guys are coming with me to the Judge family to investigate"

"Before that, we have to interrogate 'Mr. Varun Khanna' who is senior to Mr.Agarwal" Arjun said

"Mr Khanna, but Why? Care to explain?" Rathod asked him confusingly.

"He is senior to Mr.Aggarwal and he didn't get an opportunity to serve as a supreme court Judge, due to various reasons and we have to find out that" Arjun concluded.

While leaving the place, they saw Mr.Khanna with his juniors, So Arjun tried to ask a few questions.

"If you guys are my new client, get an appointment with my PA and I will see my dates before appearing in your case," Mr.Khanna said uninterestingly.

Rathod showed them the ETF id card to clear the confusion of him.

" We are not your client and It's about Mr.Aggarwal's murder," Arjun said

"Ohh, go and find who killed him, Now excuse me! I have an important case hearing and my client is waiting." Saying this he walked away from ETF.

The ETF is looking at the way Mr.Khanna responded to them. While leaving the place Arjun saw Paatan Laala in a wheelchair and said," This is the important case of M.Khanna,"

His blood ragged after seeing that creature, he badly wants to kill that man but, refrains from doing so since they are on the premises of the court.

"Criminals like you are roaming around the world freely because of Advocate like Mr.Khanna is breaking the laws and making you guys free."

" He is just breaking the law, unlike you who always take the law in your hands" Paatan pricked Arjun further.

"Last time, I took half of the law in my hand and broke only one leg of you, and If I get a chance again, I will take the full law in my hands and will break both the leg," Arjun said rudely.

"Hero, If you think yourself as a hero, Why you couldn't save your heroin? When she was dying painfully and calling your name for help. When you cannot give justice to your dead wife?, How will you give justice to others?" Paatan said while enjoying the way it affects Arjun.

Everyone was trying to control their anger after listening to Paatan, Ayesha holds Rathod forearm to control his anger, and Riya is waiting for Arjun's outburst.

"Paatan" Arjun screamed his name. and punched in his face hardly till blood comes out of his mouth and nose.

Rathod is trying to hold Arjun's shoulder to drag him back and Sree and Chotu trying to hold Arjun, but Arjun is like a wounded lion ditched Paatan's Wheelchair, and tried to bounce on him.

"Stop it Rawte, You already broke his leg and don't break his other leg too, and Its a crime to beat the criminal at the premises of the court"Rathod tried to stop Arjun before he kills Paatan.

The whole court saw Arjun's outburst and the way he has beaten the criminal. Rathod sighed heavily.

Arjun wriggle out of Rathod, Sree, and Chotu clutches and moved away from that place.

All the boys moved out of the place. But Riya is rooted in the place with tears in her eyes.

"Riya, come on everyone is waiting for us" Ayesha shacked Riya's shoulder to bring out of her trance.

"Huh Ayesha Mam" Ayesha looked at Riya's tear stricken face

"Poor Arjun Sir, He is deeply hurt, but at the same, he must realize Roshini is no more on his life and should be out of his own self-imprisonment," Ayesha said thoughtfully.

Riya smiled sadly," Who said Roshini Ji was dead? She is living in Arjun's memories and every breath he takes only to punish her murderer".

There is an underlying pain in her eyes which makes Ayesha surprised.

"Reality is far different from dreams, and self-suffering and dwelling in pain are not going to bring her back," Ayesha said while looking intently at Riya.

Riya faked her laugh and said," Self-Suffering is very personal, If the person is not ready to come out of it, we cannot do anything and it's his decision to suffer in her memory."

Ayesha looked at Riya shockingly and thought, "Doesn't she likes him?".

Without waiting for Ayesha's reply, She left the place where Arjun and Rathod are waiting in the car.

At ETF Conference Room.

~ After two hours~

Everyone is stressed that they couldn't any clue about Mr.Aggarwal's murder, and top of that political and medical pressure for not finding the murderer of the Judge. But suddenly Sree's tracking machine is ringed out to indicate a call.

Sree gave the headphones to everyone to listen to the conversation.

Caller: When we will get the settlement amount for the work that has been done?"

Mystery Man: "I gave you 50L already, and the amount you are asking is a bit high for the work."

Caller: "Khanna Sir, we murdered the high court judge for you, and the amount we are asking is just 1C. Won't you get salaries in Lakhs after you become a supreme court judge? "

Varun Khanna:" This is the final amount I will be giving you, If you try to trick me again I won't leave you easily"

Caller: "I will run away from this place with my men, After getting the money so don't worry."

Varun Khanna: "Place and timing"

Caller: "An old mill near the Juhu beach at 4.00 PM, cause after getting the money I'have a flight to catch.

Varun Khanna: Okay, you better hide till I arrive, cause ETF is behind me for my interrogation."

Everyone removed their headphones once the call is ended.

Rathod told everyone to get ready to go to an old mill at Juhu beach.

An old mill near Juhu beach.

ETF surrounded the mill, they are waiting for Varun Khanna entry so that they can catch him with red-handed. Soon Khanna arrived at the place with a suitcase, and he straightway entered the mil searching for the caller. Behind him, ETF also stealthily entered the mil.

~Inside the mill~

Khanna saw the hired man is standing with his men, shouted"Why did you call me here, Seethura? How many times I told you not to call me for more money?".

Seetha," I need more money" while saying this he noticed ETF is surrounding the place and alerted his man.

"You showed your true colors Khanna sir by bringing police to this place," Seethura screamed and tried to fire at Mr.Varun Khanna.

Khanna frightened and started to run, but ETF and police have surrounded the place. He looked at Seethura once again and said, "I will give you 2C, save me from this ETF and police".

This made Seethura and his men happy and they started to fight with the ETF, meanwhile, Khanna is trying to escape from this place. Arjun saw this and he is turned to catch hold of him, Seethura tried firing at Arjun's direction to save Khanna.

Arjun couldn't see the man who is pointing a gun at him, everyone shouting his name to alert him. Before the gun pass through his body, a soft body pushed him down and got the gun on her left forearm. Now they were rolling down on the ground by the force she pushed him. Everything happens in a flash of a second, now his hard body pressing her soft one on the ground. He felt something wet on his body, he knew the wetness is Riya's blood.

Everyone looked at the scene horrifyingly. On the other hand, Arjun got up leaving Riya alone on the ground and shot Seethura's head.

He ran towards Riya who is half-conscious on the ground and lifted her to his shoulder level.

Riya is looking at him happily like she won the war and said, "Thanks to God, you are okay.!"

"Riya, The bullet is inside your hand and it's deep but you are asking about me" Arjun tried to make her understand.

She nodded her head and he could see she is slipping into an unconscious state.

Arjun patted her cheeks softly," Riya, please try to keep your eyes open, we will be reaching hospital soon, and I won't let anything happen to you,'Trust Me' ". He tries to reassure himself more than her.

"I trust you more than myself and I know you will save me this time too," Riya said to Arjun with a small smile on her face.

Her speech is shocking to everyone including Arjun, but they thought she is saying something in her unconscious state and the trust she had on him is surprising.

"Rathod, get the car ready" He screamed before scooping up her in his arms.

Local police arrested the Khanna and Seethura's men, while ETF took Riya to hospital.

Car Ride

Arjun is driving is the car menacingly, Sameer is sitting on the co-passenger seat, and looking at Arjun who looks disturbed. Riya is lying on the lap of Ayesha, Liza is doing first-aid to stop the blood loss, and in another ETF car, Sree and Chotu are following the Arjun's car.

At LifeLine Hospital

Arjun reached the hospital within 30 mins. soon the doctor took Riya to OT to remove the bullet from her forearm. Everyone is waiting outside of the OT, Ayesha is looking at Arjun's face which is barren of any emotions.

~After 1 hour~

The doctor came outside of the OT with satisfaction and said," Your officer is alright now and we removed the gun which had penetrated her skin. She needs complete bed rest for two weeks at least before she is involving herself for fieldwork, and She will be gaining consciousness within 1 hour and you guys can meet her after shifting her to the normal ward."

Everyone thanked the doctor, but one person is not moved from the place, which is scaring the team. They know he is trying to control his rage, and he is going to burst out when Riya gained her conscious.

~After sometime~

After getting conscious Riya is shifted to a normal ward. Everyone surrounded in the room looking at her with different emotions. Sree and Chotu looked at her annoyingly, Ayesha and Liza looked at her with a smile on their face, and Rathod is looking at her thankfully for saving his friend. But the person whom she is expecting an answer is calm and serene.

Ayesha watched Riya's eye move and indicated everyone to leave the room.

When everyone departed from the room. The angry beast lashed out in anger on his prey.

"How many times I told you to stay away from me, Riya" Arjun yelled at her frustratingly.

"Who asked you to take the bullet for me? , You could have died while saving me!" He looked at her.

"Even you could have died if I didn't push you down, and the wound is small, it will heal soon.!" She tried to reason herself.

He clenched his fist to control the anger and roared at her, "So let me die, Who the hell are you to save me? My life is not so important over yours, that you saved me instead of saving yourself"

"Your life is very important to some people your parents, Rathod Sir, and to 'ME'," she said while controlling her sob.

"Don't be an idiot, Riya and you don't have any rights to save me." Arjun tried to win the argument rigidly.

"If I don't have any rights to save you, in the same way, you don't have any rights to say, for whom I shouldn't waste my breath at" She shouted at him furiously.

She looked at him with tears, said " Please leave the room, cause the pain in my hand is less as compared to the pain your words are giving to me. I don't want to hear your justification about whose life is important here"

Riya turned her head to the other side, not able to stop him while he is leaving her all alone. Arjun looked at her one last time, left the place without arguing.

Once he was out of the room she let the tears roll down freely. This is the problem with him and this fact hurt her always, he is being walked away from her every damn time. Either he will walk away from her or he will ignore her presence.

Outside the room, everyone saw Arjun is leaving the room furiously and went inside to see Riya.

Sree and Chotu took the chair next to her bed and Rathod, Ayesha, and Liza watching her with a satisfied face.

"I will be alright guys, Why are you looking at me like a criminal!" She said looking at their fear-stricken faces.

"That we can see" Sree and Chotu yelled at her together. Riya kept silent after her friend's outburst.

"Take care of yourself Riya," Rathod, Ayesha, and Liza said.

"Riya you should take complete bed rest so I'm granting two weeks of medical leave" Rathod declared to which Riya made a face.

She tried to defend herself but Ayesha interrupted her," Yes Sameer is right, You are taking leave" with a stern voice.

"Yes Riya, the wound is pretty deep and you need a rest" Liza supported Ayesha and Rathod.

"Liza is saying Right, that's final you are taking leave for 2 weeks" Sree agreed with Liza without any fuss making everyone jaw drop on the ground.

Liza's eyes gleamed with joy when Sree agreed with her first time on the history.

Chotu opened his mouth to say something, but Riya showed her hand to stop him replied, "Fine, I will take".

Everyone shrieked happily after hearing her. Rathod, Ayesha, and Liza left the room giving space for best friends.

Riya indicated at the duo to lift the bed so that she could sit. They adjusted the bed to make her sit comfortably, and Chotu placed a pillow behind her back to support her.

"Ri, you shouldn't have done that" Sree voiced out his disagreement for the act she pulled out.

"What if something happened to you? We knew you wanted to save Arjun sir life, but not at the cost of yours"This time Chotu stated.

Riya was silent for some time and explained, "I had to do that to save him"

Sree and Chotu sighed heavily.

Looking at her gloom face after Rathod's mandatory leave, "Don't worry Ri, during this time we will come and see you on a daily basis" They said while trying to cheer her up.

"How? You guys would be busy at the office, and I have to stare at the empty walls of my apartment whole day" Riya exclaimed angrily.

"Book a ticket for me to London, I'm leaving after the discharge" she firmly said.

"What?" duo looked at her shockingly

"Yes, I'm leaving for London, but I need one help from you guys!" Riya looked at them mischievously this time.

"You better not get us in any trouble" Sree said skeptically.

"Anything but not babysitting the lion Arjun sir" Chotu added more.

"I will ask Bablu to provide his cutting-chai on time and babysitting for Arjun sir, but this is something else!" She said irritatingly.

They looked at her breathlessly to hear her so-called help.

"You have to call me on a daily basis when Arjun sir sitting with you guys" she smiled at them cutely.

"Are you out of your freaking mind?" duo screamed at her.

"Please" Riya pleaded them literally.

"Fine, but pray for us if the lion finds out this, we will be serving at traffic police" they agreed reluctantly.

Riya beamed with joy when Sree and Chotu agreed with her, she showed her deep dimples at them for thankfulness.

~After two days~

Riya is discharged from hospital, and in these two days, Arjun hardly came to visit her at the hospital.
Sree booked an air ticket to London today evening. From Choree, ETF including Arjun gets to know that Riya is leaving out of the country for 15 days.

At Riya's Apartment

Riya is clad in simple cotton white salwar with flip flops, and She tied her hair in a messy bun. She packed her luggage along with the prescribed medicines.

After 15 mins she came out of her apartment, the scene in front of her shocked as well surprised her.
Before her, the whole EFT clown is present including the 'Great ACP Arjun Suryakant Rawte' so surprising.

She eyed them suspiciously particularly at Arjun, "You guys are here"

"Yeah, to send off you to London" Choree smiled at her.

"I'm not leaving the country forever that whole ETF comes to send off me," Riya said while rolling her eyes.

"Ri, Stop your drama, you are getting late for check-in" without arguing further she loaded her luggage at the SUV with the help of Chotu.

They made her come to Arjun's car, both of them silent throughout the ride, none of them tried to talk after the hospital outburst. She looked at him anticipating hearing his voice or anything he wants to say, but the man whom she has fallen in love with is hard-nut to crack.

After 1 hour of travel, the car stopped at the entrance of Mumbai airport. Arjun looked at her to indicate that they have arrived at their destination. With a heavy heart, she gets down from the car while muttering something inaudible to herself.

She looked at the Arjun who is looking at the runway instead of her, so slammed the car door harshly to make him look at her. He turned his head after hearing the noise, Riya waited for him to speak, when he didn't tell her anything she started to leave the place.

"Out of all the people in the universe, Why I have to fall in love with this man? she asked herself this question.

The whole team watching them silently without uttering the word. Riya smiled at ETF before waving her hand to say good-bye.

Without standing in that place for more than a min, she moved herself to hide in the crowd.
