Chapter 14

Next morning

Kocchar House,

A smile spread on Vikram's face like the sun rays in the sky, Neha snuggled closer into his chest, hiding herself from the sunshine that brightened the room.

"Vik, ye lights off karo, mujhe bahot neend aa rahi hai!" She said in a sleepy childlike tone.

"Meri jaan, I can't turn off the sunlight! Come on now, get up! It's 7 o'clock already!" He said, making another vain trial of waking her.

"Shh.. sone do mujhe, puri raat jagakar rakha, abhi sone do!" She mumbled in her sleep.

"Don't blame me now, tumne hi kaha tha." He knew that once she starts arguing, she'd get over her sleep!

"Chup raho aur sone do!" She pulled the comforter over her face. He pulled it down, "Bad habit, never put your face inside the comforter or pillow during your sleep."

"Dockie! Lecture mat do, sone do!"

"Agar mujhe pehle pata hota ki tum itni badi kumbhakaran ho to kabhi tumse shaadi nahi karta! Get up now!"He tried again, but this time she didn't reply. "It's 8 o'clock, wake up now!"

"Dockie! 5 minit mein saat se aath baj gaye, ghadi kharab hai ya tumhari aankhe?" She said in sleepy voice, without opening her eyes even once.

He said in a surprised voice, "How did you know?"

She slapped his head lightly, "Once a cop, always a cop, mujhe bewakoof banana itna aasaan nahi hai!"

"Waise aur kab tak sone ka iraada hai?"

"Iraadein to puchiye hi mat doctor sahab!" She said naughtily as she kept her hand on his cheek lovingly.

"Aapke iraade to hume kabhi nek lage hi nahi, aaj bhi nahi..."Before he could complete, she claimed his lips n refrained him from speaking. She kissed him passionately, "Good morning hubby jaan!"

"Good Morning wifie jaan!" He gently caressed her nape, where she had his name tatooed. "Mujhe abhi bhi yakeen nahi ho raha ki tumhe mere naam ka tatoo banwaya hai! I mean jo lakdi injection se darti hai, usne tatoo kaise karwaya?"

"Viki darling, I love you, aur tumhare pyaar me dard ka ehsaas hua hi nahi!" She said it looking in his eyes directly. They shared an intense eyelock, which was broken by the knock on the door.

"Veere, Neha bhabhi, darwaza kholo! Uth gaye ho ya phir abhi.."Sarita cleared her throat in the middle, n continued knocking the door. "Kholo bhai.."

"Tum darwaza kholo, tab tak main thoda so leti hu!" She said n got inside the comforter. He shook his head in disbelief, quickly put on the robe n opened the door.

"Finally darwaza khola to sahi, ab jaldi se neeche aa jao, naashte ke liye tum dono ka intezaar kar rahe hai sab."

"Bua ji se kaho hum abhi aate hai."

"Jaldi aana!"

2 hours later,

"Neha beta tumhare maayke se aaj koun aa raha hai tumhe pag-phere ki rasm ke liye le jane ke liye?" Vikram's bua ji asked her after the breakfast. Bua ji had came home early yesterday for the post marriage rituals of grihapravesh, so she did not know what happened there during the bidaai.

"Bua ji..wo.." Neha searched for an excuse but before she could find it, the doorbell rang n Arjun showed up. "I hope I didn't get late!" He came in. Neha looked at Vikram who nodded slightly n she knew that he had called Arjun.

After half an hour, Arjun n Neha left Kocchar house.

In SUV,

"Bhaiya, aap akele kyu aaye? Shanu di..bhabhi nahi aayi aapke saath?" Neha questioned innocently.

"Wo shadi nahi huyi!" He said.

"Oh! That's .. bad .. sad" She said n looked out of window, thinking, "Not sad, it's great! Plan successful Shanu Di! So sad that I missed witnessing the drama!"

*flashback*

Rawte Mansion,

That evening after meeting Shanaya, Neha was back in her room. She sat in her swing n recalled their conversation. After thinking for long time she realised her mistake, "Mujhe Shanu di se aise baat nahi karni chahiye thi.. She's my best friend, main unki help nahi karungi to aur koun karega? I need to think of a foolproof plan to help her."

Neha thought about the possibilities all night n finally prepared a plan.

Next morning she called Shanaya to meet her.

"Shanu di, I'm really sorry, kal shaam ko mujhe aapse aise baat nahi karni chahiye thi.. I had been a little selfish you know! Aapko yaad hai hum bachpan mein kya khel khelte the?"

"Chutki tu.."

"Aapko mere gudde aur gudiya ki shaadi wala khel to yaad hoga na? Shanaya, meri pyari si gudiya aur Arjun, mera pyara gudda, aur hum unki shadi karwate the, phir ghar-ghar khelte the, kitna maza aata tha na!"

"Chutki??!"

"Kya karu? Jhalli hu na, bachpan ke khel aur asli zindagi ke bich ka fark bhul gayi thi. Lekin ab acche se samajh gayi hu, aap bhaiya se shaadi nahi karna chahti na, to aisa hi sahi! Jaanti hu, aapki aur bhaiya ki shaadi ka sapna main bachpan se dekh rahi thi, lekin mere ek sapne ko pura karne ke lie main do zindagiyan barbaad nahi kar sakti na! I always thought that you both loved each other, but there is vast difference between your thoughts n reality! Jab bhaiya ne kaha tha ki wo Roshni bhabhi se pyaar karte hai, unse shadi karna chahte hai, I wasn't much happy, mujhe to aap dono ki shaadi dekhni thi par bhaiya ki khushi ke liye maan gayi! Jab baba ne aapki aur bhaiya ki shaadi ki baat kahi tab mujhe phir se mera sapna pura hota hua dikhayi diya, lekin kal aapne mana kiya to phir se mujhe mera sapna toot-ta huya nazar aane laga, isliye aapko forse kar rahi thi," Neha chuckled at herself, "jane koun kounse ghatiya reasons diye maine aapko manane ke liye! Khair, ab main samajh gayi hu ki iss shaadi mein na aapki khushi hai aur na bhaiya ki, aur jab meri life ke do sabse important log hi khush nahi hai to main kaise khush reh sakti hu?"

"Chutki, main samajh rahi hu tum ye kyu keh rahi ho.."

"Aap bhaag jaiye!"Neha replied casually.

"Kya?" Shanaya was shocked. "Chutki ye tu kya keh rahi hai? Main aise kaise bhaag jau?"

"Khandaan ki izzat ki fikr mat kijiye, unhe izzat se jyada paise acche lagte hai!" Neha said bitterly, "Jo insaan ek deal ke liye apni beti ki ijjat ka sauda karne ke liye taiyaar ho jaye main uski ijjat ki koi parwaah nahi karti!"

"Chutki,yeh kya keh rahi hai tu?"

"Sach, wo sach jo kuch din pehle hi mere saamne aaya" She said drifting down the memory lane.

That day after Vikram talked with Suryakant, she'd called at his office, he picked the phone but before she spoke, Vivaan had came in n Suryakant had put the receiver down, but the call wasn't disconnected. She heard their conversation.

"Mr. Rawte maine deal ke papers padh liye hai, everything is fine but sign karne se pehle mujhe kuch chahiye!"

"Kya chahiye beta, kaho!"

"Khandala mein hamara ek farmhouse hai, meri aur aapki beti Neha ki shaadi hone wali hai, to main uske saath thoda time spend karna chahta tha, just we both, you know what I mean, to main uske saath do din farmhouse main rehna chahta hu, aur wapas aane ke baad main deal ke papers sign kar dunga!"

"Of course beta, tum use le jaa sakte ho! Main abhi use phone karke kehta hu!"

"Mr. Rawte, I hope ki wo manaa na kare, nahi to main deal ke papers sign nahi karunga!"

"Don't worry Vivaan, uske mana karne ka to sawal hi nahi uthta, uski marzi ho ya na ho, wo tumhare saath zaroor jayegi! Use jaana padega n I'll make sure of it!"

"See you later, Mr. Rawte!"

"Good bye!"

Neha couldn't believe her ears, did her father just put her as a bait for the deal? She felt the land slipping beneath her feet, her head was spinning. Two days, two nights with him at farmhouse, alone? What would he do? She'd heard his dirty talks too much during her coma state.

She knew well what his intentions were, but was her father so naive, not to understand them, or he allowed him even after knowing them! So, this was the real face of Mr. Suryakant Rawte, which she hadn't seen in the past 23 years!

The reason why Arjun always hated him, though he didn't talk about it to her much but she understood it from the way he behaved with his parents. For them, their children were never important, they'd always grown with maids n servants to take care of all their needs. Her mother never got time from her social gatherings, kitty parties n charities, her father didn't get time from his business.

She recalled one of his talk with Roshni when he has a row with Suryakant, she had overheard it, he said "Roshni, dum ghut ta hai mera iss mansion mein, use paison ke alawa kisiki fikar nahi hai, main agar yahan reh raha hu to sirf Neha ke liye, uss aadmi ka koi bharosa nahi hai, jaane kab meri Neha ko bhi koi cheez samajh kar uska sauda kar de! Jab tak main yahan hu, mujhe iss baat ki tasalli zaroor rahegi ki wo safe hai, mere baad uska kya hoga ye soch ke bhi darr lagta hai!"

"Arjun, gusse mein aap kya bol rahe hai ye aap nahi jante! Wo pita hai aapke, Neha ke, wo aisa kyu karenge?"

"Neha ki tarah tum bhi uske asli chehre ko nahi jaanti, lekin main jaanta hu!"

She had then thought that he was saying it out of anger, but how stupid she was, she understood the reality now. So she had planned about the fake accident n built up the story that she's infertile, to break that so called marriage n the deal.

"Chutki!" Shanaya shook Neha n she came back to present. "Kahan kho gayi thi, main kab se aawaz de rahi hu!"

"Kuch nahi, di main kya keh rahi thi.."

"Bhaag jao ye keh rahi thi" Shanaya said sarcastically.

"Exactly, look I have a plan. Abhi aap saari rasme hone dijiye. Hum dono ki shaadi ek hi din hogi, lekin meri subah aur aapki raat ko, to ussi din aap ghar se bhaag jaiye. Subah sab meri shaadi mein busy honge, koi aap par dhyaan nahi dega, uss waqt aapko aasani se bhagne ka mouka mil jayega! Sir bhaagne se pehle ek letter likhkar jaana ki main ye shaadi nahi karna chahti, isliye ghar se bhag gayi hu, n whatever you want to write! Mr. Suryakant Rawte ka wo chehra dekhne layak hoga jab unki dusri deal bhi toot jaayegi! Kaash unhe ye samajh aa jaaye ki baccho ki khushi paiso se badhkar hoti hai!"

"Aur aap chahe to main baaki ki sari planning bhi kar sakti hu, like tickets n all!"

"Chutki, kya tu sachme chahti hai ki main bhag jau?"

"Aapko bhaiya se shaadi nahi karni hai, to shadi todne ka koi reason hai aapke paas? Nahi! So this is the best n only option you have, bhaag jao, bahot maza aayega! Waise to mujhe bhi Vik se bhagkar hi shaadi karni thi, bhaiya ki tarah lekin wo rajadhiraj Vikramaditya, Harishchandra ke vanshaj, maana hi nahi! Issliye ye natak karna pada! Aapko mouka mil raha hai to don't let it go, just run away! Waise kitna accha hota na agar aapka koi boyfriend hota, aur aap uske saath bhaag jaati, but koi nahi, aap akele bhi bhaag sakti ho!"

"Lekin Chutki koi gadbad ho gayi to?"

"Neha ka plan hai, ek dum foolproof, koi mistake nahi hogi, just chillax di! Aur bhagne ki taiyaari karo!"

"Thanks Chutki!" Shanaya hugged her.

"You're welcome Di, waise ab rona mat, meri bidaai mein abhi time hai!" Neha made her laugh n wiped the tears from Shanaya's eyes. "Come on now, let's go, hamari shaadi ki taiyaariya karni hai na!"

*flashback*

Neha came back to present when the SUV halted in front of a large building.

"Bhaiya yeh.."

"My new home, ab main Rawte mansion main nahi rehna chahta! So just shifted her at night." Arjun said with a smile. He looked like a bird freed from a cage.

"That's great!"

They went to the 10th floor. The name plate read, "A.C.P. Arjun Rawte". He opened the door n let her in. It was a cozy little 2BHK flat, which he had bought 2 years ago just as an investment, but she had came her for the first time. It was well furnished n tastefully decorated by Roshni.

They spent some good time there, chatting n teasing her, when a phone call disturbed their jolly time.

Soon both of them reached ETF office. Sikander had eloped. They had just got to know it when they opened his cell for his interrogation. The cameras didn't have any recording as there was a power cut n before the backup power could start, he was already gone.

"Damn it! Itni security ke bich se koi aise kaise bhaag sakta hai?" Sameer was hell angry.

"Wo mujhse bachkar jyada der tak chup nahi sakta, main use kahin se bhi dhundh nikalunga, ye mera waada hai!" Arjun said it, more to himself.

The whole team got to work, searching for Sikander.

Same evening,

Shanaya stood in the marble floored balcony of her room, alone. Her room behind her was even more spacious and luxurious than the balcony. Her 2 maid servants were back in the room arranging the space while she stood quietly outside, looking at the peaceful backwaters and the sky..

She was where she wanted to be. With Him. The man who loved her, and they weren't bounded by some family pressure or a business contract. Whereas their love was anything but according to the norms of the society. A Love which never was nor ever will be accepted by anyone. Who fell in love with a gangster? A drug lord? But she did. Shanaya looked at the sky which was painted with the hues of orange as the sun was about to set.

"Bibi?" One of her maidservants called her from the room, breaking her thoughts. "Aayein main aapko taiyaar kar doon. Subah se aap aise hi ghum rahi hai. Bhai itne dino baad aane wale hai. Aapko aise dekhkar woh kya sochenge?" She added.

Shanaya smiled and nodded in a no. She didn't felt the need to get ready today as she knew he would find her beautiful as she was. She again gave her attention back to the sunset.

This morning she had discovered something that would change her life. Shanaya sighed and looked at the pregnancy test strip which she had in her hand. She took this test that morning as a precaution as she had been feeling very uneasy and nauseous from past few days.

The test did its job, it indicated two deep purple bars and she knew she was pregnant. Nor that it gave her sorrow. It didn't. In fact she felt this strange happiness filling inside her, she would be a mother. But the fact of how would he react to it tensed her a bit.

She heard the sounds of cars halting beneath and could hear the sudden hustle bustle that suddenly had filled the mansion. Sikander was here. Just at the mere mention of his name, her feet felt light and she quickly walked towards her room.

Keeping the pregnancy test strip in her drawer where none would dare to take it out, she pulled over her milk white dupatta on herself and litreally ran towards the main hall.

It seemed as if he too was waiting for her, No sooner did Sikander see her he ran towards her and picking up in his arms twirled her around in happiness. Shanaya smiled in ecstasy as her lover held her strongly in his arms. He brought her down and looked at her intently. His Dark eyes caressing every inch of her face.

"Kya dekh rahe ho?" She asked him.

"Yahi ki tum kitni khoobsurat ho. Aur ab toh ek alag hi noor hai tumhare chehre par." He answered, making her blush a bit.

"Sirf tareefon se kaam chalaoge?" She asked.

"Nahi. Tum ek baar huqum toh Karo, phir dekho." He added huskily, kissing her lips lightly. Shanaya kissed him back lightly and then hugged him tight which he reciprocated.

They broke the hug and Shanaya's head spinned which made her lose her balance. She would have fallen had Sikander not held her.

"Shanaya? Kya hua hai? Tumhari tabiyat theek haina?" Sikander asked, deadly concerned.

Before she could answer, Sikander took her in his arms and walked towards her room calling all his men to arrange for a doctor.

A few minutes later, a lady doctor came in who was working with their gang since beginning and asked Sikander to wait outside, who paced the floor and asked her maidservants about her.

The doctor came out a few minutes later and Sikander asked her about Shanaya.

"Fikr karne ki koi baat nahi hai Bhai. Aisi condition mein aisa hota hai." She replied.

"Aisi Condition?" Sikander asked unsure.

"Aapko nahi pata? Good News hai. Shanaya is expecting. Woh 5 weeks pregnant hai." The doctor replied and then gave Sikander some list of medicines, some do's and don'ts and left.

Sikander couldn't believe his ears for a few moments and stood as he was. She was pregnant? Then why didn't she tell him about her pregnancy?

In his life, he wouldn't have ever imagined that Allah would ever give him the most loving and protective role to play. Be a Father. He was a drug lord, a murderer, a gangster, a criminal but a father?

With slow steps, Sikander moved inside and saw Shanaya sitting up on the bed looking at him. He knew that the life breathing inside her was his. He is her first and last lover. After him, Shanaya won't even allow anyone to touch her.

"Tumne mujhe batayaa kyun nahi?" He asked her, as he sat down near her.

"Mujhe bhi aaj hi pata chala. Tumhe kuch batati isse pehle hi tumhe pata chal gaya." She replied.

"Meri Wajah Se..." Sikander couldn't complete as he gripped the wooden frame of the bed tightly in anger.

Shanaya knew he felt guilty about the thing in which both had their equal part.

"Tumhari wajah se nahi, Jo kuch bhi hua him dono ki marzi se hua Sikander." Shanaya spoke softly and held his hand to free it from the hold.

He looked at her. Not a speck of regret was to be seen in her eyes. She didn't regret it ever.

"Main tumhe aur humare bacche ko kuch nahi hone dunga." He held her face lovingly.

"I know." Shanaya smiled nodding. Agar aaj hum teeno saath hai to wo sirf Neha ki wajah se!Thanks Chutki, Thanks a lot! Aur ho sake to mujhe maaf kar dena, tumhe maine kuch nahi bataya issliye!' Shanaya thanked her mentally.

Next Day,

ETF Office,

After making extensive search, the result that they got were shocking. Shanaya had helped him to elope.

"NO! That's not possible! Nahi.. Shanu di.. Wo aisa nahi kar sakti.. Kabhi nahi.. Aap logo ko zaroor koi galat information mili hai!" Neha denied the fact.

"Sir ye baat sach hai, mere informers ne pakki khabar di hai, ki wo Sikander ke sath mili huyi thi." Chotu said.

"Aur waise bhi, uss din jab humne Sikander ko arrest kiya tha tab Shanaya ka reaction dekhkar mujhe bhi kuch gadbad lagi thi." Aisha added.

"What nonsense! Meri Shanu di aisa kabhi nahi karengi!" Neha argued.

"Neha, dil se nahi, dimaag se socho! Usne tumhe zaroor kuch bataya hoga! Just think!" Aisha said.

"Aur agar wo in sab mein involved nahi hai to phir wo bhaag kyu gayi?" Chotu questioned.

"Kyuki maine unhe bhagne ke liye kaha tha! Wo bhaiya se shaadi nahi karna chahti thi, isliye maine unhe baag jane ke liye kaha!" Neha revealed n everyone was shocked. "Waise hum ye pata laga sakte hai ki Shanu di kahan hai! Aur wahan jaakar ye prove ho jayega ki unka Sikander se koi lena dena nahi hai!"

"Kaise?"

"Maine unhe ek pendent gift kiya tha, usme traacker lagaya tha, just for her safety, aur maine use nikalne se mana bhi kiya tha. We can trace her location."

"Shree, get to work!" Sameer ordered n soon Shree traced her location. It was a small vilage in Kerala.

Same night,

ETF team reached the location, the village in Kerala. This time They did not involve any other police team n directly raided the framhouse. This was as lavish as the earlier one near Delhi. The whole team sealed the exits n entered inside.

Shanaya was sitting on the couch, resting, Sikander was resting on the lounge, Aqib was checking some details on his cell phone.

"Hands up everyone, koi bhi apni jagah se nahi hilega!" Sameer ordered.

Sikander immediately stood up with a gun in his hand, Aqib also ready with his gun, Shanaya was just too surprised to see them all here. Neha couldn't believe her eyes, Shanaya was with Sikander! She broke her trust n her heart ached in pain.

"Don't move, or I'll shoot!" Arjun said, pointing his gun directly at Sikander.

For a moment, the lights went off, before anyone could understand, two gun shots were heard n two familiar voices screamed, n banged on the floor. When the lights turned on again within a few seconds, Neha let out a heart wrenching scream, "Bhaiyaaa..." She sat beside him, he lay in pool pf his own blood, oozing from his heart.

"Sikanderrr..." Shanaya let out the painful scream, seeing his bloody body.

"Shree, jaldi se ambulance bulao.." Sameer ordered quickly n Shree nodded.

"Sir, ambulance bulaane ka waqt nahi hai, hume Arjun sir ko car mein hi hospital tak le jana hoga.Chotu.." Liza said. Chotu cupped Arjun in his arms n immediately rushed towards the SUV. Chotu laid Arjun carefully n went back inside the farmhouse. Shree took the driver's seat n Neha n Liza were taking care of Arjun. Liza took her kit n was doing the first aid. Tears were brimming from Neha's eyes n she was praying hard.

Arjun was finding it hard to breathe, but he kept his eyes open, looking at Neha. She had held his hand tightly.

Arjun tried to speak,"Stop, mujhe.. mat.. bachao.. "

"Bhaiya, aapko kuch nahi hoga,trust me!" Neha said amidst tears.

"Maine.. Sik..ander ..maar.. diya.. ab .. jeene ki.. wajah.. nahi.. hai.." He almost whispered with pauses trying hard to breathe. The bullet had pierced his heart.

"Nahi bhaiya, aapko jeena hoga, mere liye, please!" Neha pleaded.

"Vik..ram..hai..ta ke..ca re.. Rosh..ni.. Me..ra.. Int..zaar..kar..ra hi..hai.."It was becoming difficult for him to speak.

"Bhaiya, please aise mat kahiye aap theek ho jayenge, hum abhi hospital pahuchenge!"

"Jaa..ne.. Do.. I.. lo..ve.. You.."he said n looked at her for the last time.

"Bhaiya.. I love you too, aap ko kuch nahi hoga, dekhiye, hospital aa gaya hai!" She said as they had reached the hospital. They brought the stretcher n laid him on it. The doctors checked his pulse n declared him dead beore admission.

Neha held the collar of that doctor,"Chup chap mere bhaiya ka ilaaj karo aur unhe theek karo, unhe kuch nahi hona chahiye!" She said in anger.

Doctor was scared at her anger,"wo marr chuke hai.." She slapped him. "Shut up! Kisne tumhe doctor banaya?" Shree n Liza pulled her away n stopped her.

"Neha, hosh mein aao.. Arjun sir ab nahi rahe.. Accept it!" Liza shushed and hugged her.

"Tum jhoot bol rahi ho, sab jhoot bol rahe hai, bhaiya ka ilaaj kijiye, wo theek ho jayenge, please don't waste time, jaldi karo!"She kept pleading n crying.

"Neha.. hum tumhare dard ko samajh sakte hai, lekin sambhalo apne aap ko, tum aise toot nahi sakti!" Shree consoled her.

"Bhaiya mujhe chhod kar nahi jaa sakte.. Nahi jaa sakte.. Kabhi nahi.." She kept rambling n fell unconscious.
