The four Days!
Chapter-35:
Thirukkural: (Chapter-88; Poem-877)
Relate not your suffering even to friends who are ignorant of it, nor refer to your weakness in the presence of your foes.
-Thiruvalluvar.
Once she eyed him, she sighed, her chest heaved in relief and she wanted to see him forever without blinking her eyes.
It was a sight for sore eyes when all she had expected was an eyesore!
'Dear God, he made it! He made it at last!'
He had come for her! The thought enticed her.
He removed a tress of hair that covered her face from view and backed away as though he had touched a hot pot.
At last she spoke, "I knew you would come!"
She smiled proudly and was saying from her dream.
"I didn't!" he returned.
#
He heard the rattling sound and realized that it was increasing as moments passed.
'Why is she doing it now? Did she get that her time line has passed?'
He put a hand under the pillow as he heard someone entering into the room in cat's paw.
He turned to look the figure, but in the dark he could not get a face.
But he knew who it was, didn't he?
He did not make a sound.
He smiled to himself triumphantly.
He knew what to do well!
And if he let him know, the man would be shocked this one time for sure; once he finished with him he would not feel anything, ever!
After all, it all was in his plan!
He felt as though he was becoming a fore teller lately.
He started talking as the figure came to a distance he preferred.
"I knew you would come!" he said suddenly.
"I didn't!" I returned.
#
"What the hell are you doing here?"- He threw dynamite then toward her.
He looked confused than shocked.
She heard enough, though she could not believe her ears.
"Quiddling here!"
She returned a moment later.
They both went silent in their own thoughts.
'She is in the same outfit that I saw her last. She didn't even get a chance to reach her house!'
'Oh! I thought he would be happy for rescuing me. But no...'
'... At least he sent the right message!'
He growled to no one.
'No, he has come alone or otherwise the team would have moved in a tight scrum. If only Ayesha had come-
'If I get a chance-
"Didn't he do something to you?"- He broke in, but wrongly in haste.
She glared.
She had yet to know that it was not his indignation that urged him to impair her truculently, but an indication that his composure got disturbed and was in repentance.
He rephrased it again.
"Uh, I mean, did he do something to annoy you?"
A smoldering Sakshi looked away as tears lined up her eyes fast. She exploded at length with quivering lips.
"Just that I'm starving."
But it came out as a mere whisper.
He caught a glimpse of red in her otherwise pale cheeks.
Something snapped in him. He swooped down, put the gun down, set the pen torch near and reached to untie the wire behind her.
As he was not doing so, the next moment she turned to know what was keeping him from action.
To add to her already squeezing annoyance, he was looking down at her kurtha's top.
She looked away quickly that it would annoy him, if he knew that she had caught him off-guard. But before that, he looked away quietly.
He reached the wire behind her and started untying. It was very tight that he had to pull the knot forcibly. She winced in pain.
"I'm sorry!" he apologized. But she just looked away.
He resumed to the task at hand.
She felt no pain any further until she saw her hands.
The bruise had turned purple. Tears oozed out her eyes in self-pity, this time. She turned her face away from him. She bit her lips hard to see to the sobs from escaping them.
Something held him from taking her in his arms to comfort her. To blow the lingering away, he shifted to her fetter and noticed the odd thread that attached to it. His eyes followed the thread which linked to another wire that went to the ceiling straight.
As he was about to cut the thread the tin rattled once again. She came to life at that.
She gripped his left arm and shrieked.
"No! Don't, Arjun! If you cut the thread he will be here at once!"
He realized from the grip of her nails that sinking in his arm that she had encountered it before. He looked at his arm significantly and she let go of his arm.
He contemplated a moment, before tucked the thread under his shoe and freed her legs from the wire.
He joined the thread to the wire he untied from her hand binds and tied it to the pillar, loosely.
Having done that he asked, "Can you walk to the car?"
She thought it over and felt weakness to the knee.
She was not going to admit it to him that later he would think it was nothing but acting.
"I think I can!" she said feebly.
"Right!"
He assisted her to stand up and picked up his gun and pen torch. Once he stuffed the gun behind, he clutched the torch in his mouth and picked her up in his hands.
She sighed.
At the touch of his hands she felt as though she had lost.
Her back up power started falling from nil from there.
Her hand which was clutching his collar loosened its grip.
She shut her eyes wearily. She did not need them to guide her anymore.
He turned laterally to cross the path he came earlier and move carefully forward. When he came near the box that was up to his hip and protruding dangerously, he pulled her close to his chest agilely.
Her body shuddered once as though it could not take more joy than that, before she faded into oblivion.
Once he got out of the room it was much easier. He rushed out the room, ran down the corridor, raised the stairs in a flash, reached out and approached the car.
When he was about to open the door, "I'm a heroine... after all..." she elided drowsily. A smile crept on her lips.
He looked at her and realized that it was her weakness and ignored it.
As he put her on the back seat her head glided and stroked on the other side door.
He opened the passenger door and the water bottle. He opened the glove compartment with a snap and snatched the bar-chocolate he had left there the other day.
He came around the car to her side and opened the door.
With her head balanced on his chest he poured some water as little as he needed, into his cupped palm.
He splashed it on her face. She stirred.
But soon she snuggled and settled on his chest as she wished him to let well alone.
He said, softly, "Sakshi! Have this chocolate!"
As the murmur of unwrapping fell in her ears, her lips parted before her eyes did.
He put the bottle in her mouth instead and let a few precious drops into her mouth, before he took it away from her.
She felt the chillness first then an irritation as the drops passed down her dry throat. Her forehead creased. He again did the same.
After three sips, he allowed a mouthful of water and after two more mouthfuls she opened her eyes and grabbed the chocolate.
As she sank her teeth into it, he swore under his breath that he had not taken at least two chocolates instead of one. He took the stray hair that came to her mouth and tucked it behind her ear and stroked her head.
When the chocolate was half, she clutched the bottle from him and looked him.
"Good, now sit tight!"
He closed the door and looked her, "I'll be back in a minute," he promised.
Her eyes followed him as he departed.

On second thought, I thought to post this before the story.
But the first thought was posting it here.
And still, it's 1 which is coming before 2, right?😡

In a sacred place- slippers, for one.

The job of an author is such that, they've to keep the truth even from their beloved readers and-No, you can't call them liars. They are not! They've to do it deliberately, for the sake of keeping the suspense hanging until they crack the treasure box with a suitable hand. And here, now, I'm cracking it. Just peer in, gals.
Every single piece of it is only for you. Revel in. Just let me know, what you got as your share and whether you are satisfied.
Note:
If an apology can make it, I'd ask it with pleasure.
