Chapter 23

Arjun,Sameer and Shree waited outside the corridor of the hospital ward while the doctors checked Ayesha inside.Chotu had gone back to take some rest after staying there for the last two days.

The three of them had visited the car at the accident site early morning to avoid any further suspicion.They have again searched the area and the car for clues, but couldnt find any single clue about a small chip.Arjun had even gone a few steps down the cliff and looked around but still no chip was found.They had finally decided to ask
Ayesha,in a hope if she might have kept it safe somewhere else.

The doctors came out smiling at them,

'how is she doctor?'shree asked him,

'she is fine,we will discharge her by afternoon,if one of you can come for the discharge formalities..'

'yes doctor,'shree went with him,while Arjun and Sameer went in to meet her.

The nurse was giving her the morning medicines and Ayesha was sipping the water when they came in.She looked at them and greeted them with a smile.

'kaisi ho Ayesha?'Sameer asked her walking towards the bed,

'I am fine Sir,'she replied looking at both of them,

Sameer nodded and took the tool and sat on it,Arjun stood at her feet,arms crossed across his chest.She looked at them and understood both were waiting for the nurse to leave,who was arranging the medicines on the tray.She looked at Sameer and asked him,

'Sir,when can i get back?'

'badi jaldi hai wapas ane ki?rest acha nehi lag raha?'Sameer teased her smiling,

'nehi,yaha saradin rest lete lete mein pak gayi hu,'she said,

'aj discharge kar denge tumhe Ayesha and Sakshi is also coming back today afternoon,'he informed her,

'ohh sakshi ne call kiya tha?'

'hmm,'sameer looked around and found the nurse leaving with some papers.

'Sir,kiya hua?'she asked them eyeing the nurse closing the door,

'Sakshi ne tumhe koi chip diya tha Ayesha,the day she left?'sameer asked her,

'haan diya tha,mein bhool gayi thi bilkul,use wo casino mein wo chip mila tha,'she replied embarrased and shocked at her negligence,

'Ayesha tum aise kaise bhool sakti..'arjun started but a glare from Rathore and he stopped,

'wo chip kaha hai?'sameer asked politely,

'wo meine jeans ke pocket mein..,haan uske andar rakhe tha maine,per wo to...'

'ek minute..'Arjun rushed out asking at the reception for her clothes,

'kiya hua sir?wo chip?'Ayesha asked Sameer,

'batata hu Ayesha,ill just be back,'sameer too rushed out following Arjun,

They met with Shree in the corridor who was coming back after completing the discharge formalities at the reception.

'Shree Ayesha ke kapre kaha hai?'Arjun asked him,

'Kapre?kause?'shree asked surprised at their sudden rush,

'ayesha ke kapre shree,jo wo peheni thi jab admit hui thi,'

'wo to meine laundry ko de diya tha,un logo ne kal wapas bhi kar diya,kiyu sir?'

'Dammit..uske jeans ke pocket mein tha wo chip,'Rathore barked in frustration while arjun seemed skeptical about the whole thing.Shree was shocked at the sudden advancement.

'Sir mujhe Ayesha ke liye kapre lane hai,hum ekbar check kar lete hai,shayad wahi rehe gaya ho?'

'shree,tum tech expert ho bhool gaye?wo chip agar waha hai bhi,dhulne ke baad wo chip kam thori karega?'Arjun now bursted on him,while Rathore looked with a disgust look on his face,

Shree looked down embarrased.Arjun stood their thinking while Rathore turned towards the room Ayesha was kept.Sameer went back and sat on the tool beside Ayesha. He had a pale face which didnt go unnoticed by Ayesha.

'kiya hua sir?please mujhe bataiye,mujhe kuch samaj nehi aa raha,'she insisted,

'Ayesha sakshi ko ek clue mila hai,Dixit is a traitor,we cannot trust him,'he told her calmly,

'kiya?Dixit?lekin usne to humari itni madat ki hai,'she asked shocked,

'nehi usne sirf hume behekaya hai,he is sushma's husband,they are married,'he replied back,

Ayesha looked at him surprised.She had not expected something like this could come up.She kept looking at him,when suddenly she remembered about the chip.

'aur wo chip sir?usme kiya hai?'

'pata nehi,per shayad wo chip ki wajah se tumpe hamla hua tha,'

'lekin unhe kaise pata us chip ke bare mein?'

'tumhari chain shayad unhe mili ho casino mein,'

'shayad,sir usme ek locket tha,apko wo locket nehi mila?'

'kaisa locket?'

'ek square locket usme meri aur meri papa ki photo thi,papa ne mummy ko gift diya tha,'

'nehi locket to nehi mila,shayad un logo ko wo locket mila ho,'sameer concluded,

'ho sakta hai,isi liye Ayesha pe hamla kiya tha,Sakshi ne tumhe wo chip kab aur kaha diya tha Ayesha?'Arjun asked walking inside the room,

'uske room mein,'she stopped and frowned,'nehi corridor mein.Mein phone pe baat kar rahi thi and she came from behind to give me the chip,baad main,i went to her room to help and she told me about the chip and asked me to give it to you.The morning she left,'

'matlab corridor mein koi tha,dixit ka informer.Warna unhe pata kaise chala sakshi ne ayesha ko wo chip diya hai matlab hotel mein bhi humpe koi nazar rakh raha hai,'Arjun concluded,

'hmm aur us chip mein kuch bohot important hai rawte,'sameer said thoughtfully,

'right,lekin kiya faida ab tak wo chip kharab ho gaya hoga,'Shree too came in,

Ayesha looked confused so shree informed her about her clothes.She too got depressed knowing it.

Finally Rathore got up and informed her about her discharge in the afternoon.Arjun left without a word.

'aj to discharge ho rahi ho,welcome back to the den ayesha,'shree quitely told her almost inaudible earning a light slap from Ayesha and he left smiling.

Rathore too walked to the door and turned the knob when Ayesha called him back,

'Sir,'

Sameer looked back at her.

'Ap thik hai?'she asked after a moment of silence,

Sameer frowned at her question and looked at her.Her eyes showed concern.He gave a small nod and left the room quickly.

Sakshi called up chotu and asked her about Ayesha.Shree had informed her about ayesha's accident and from that day onwards it was her regular routine to call chotu and ask about her.She knew chotu was staying in the hospital with her and she would get the instant news.

She had called up chotu today as well and enquired about the chip but since chotu was completely unaware of the whole thing he couldnt help her much.She tried shree but his phone was busy,so finally she called up Arjun who roared into the phone,

'bolo'

'Arjun mein sakshi,'

'bolo'

'mein wo..wo mein dupahar ke flight se a arahi hu,'

'hmm'

'wo chip mila?'

'nehi,kuch aur bolna hai?'

'nehi,'

arjun disconencted the call,

Sakshi was angry at his arrogant gesture and kept the phone back,muttering a 'khadus' to herself.

She went to prepare for the flight..

All three was driving back to the hotel when Dixit called Rathore.Sameer stopped the car and looked at Arjun.An assured nod from him and he recieved the call.

'haan dixit,'

'Sir wo anurag ke bare mein pata chala hai,wo dubai bhag raha hai kal raat,hume use pakarna hoga airport se,'

'thik hai,hum plan karte hai,tumhe bata denge,'

'sir,wo ek informer se milna hai ek case ke silsiley mein,fir mein apse milta hu,'

'okay,'Rathore exclaimed

'Sir wo Ayesha kaisi hai?uspe aur attack to nehi hua?meine special security ka arrange kiya tha,'

'haan wo thik hai,'Rathore informed him and disconnected the call.He looked at Arjun and who looked thoughtful.He started the car and drove fast to the hotel.

They reached the hotel and met chotu at the dining area.All of them assembled in shree's room.Rathore asked chotu to take the neccesary things to Ayesha and bring her back with him in the afternoon.

Shree got out the washed clothes for Ayesha and took the jeans from it.Arjun searched the pockets but couldnt find anything inside.Another lost end.Chotu took the clothes with him and left for the hospital.

Shree ordered some food for them and all three settled down for the case discussion in Shree's room.But all of them were sitting silently.Arjun was sitting rotating his pen,while Rathore sat looking in front,nothing in particular,lost in thoughts and shree alternating his gaze between his two seniors and munching onto the food at times,which was left untouched by the other two.

After a long moment of silence Shree finally started,

'sir dixit ne kiya kaha?'he asked rathore,

'Anurag kal dubai ja raha hai,use hume pakarna hai,'rathore replied in a mechanical tone,

'sir,this might be a trap,'

'might be nehi shree,it is a trap.Rawte?'

'Anurag koi hai hi nehi,Rathore,'Arjun said and stood up,

'tum aisa kaise kehe sakte ho rawte?'

'proof to nehi hai abhi,per meri instincts kehe rahi hai,Anurag sirf hume misguild karne ke liye laya gaya tha,'

'lekin wo email address,'shree asked,

'email address hai shree,kuch bhi identity de sakte hai,'Arjun clarified,

'aur wo picture with that tattoo?'shree asked again,

'bhulo maat shree,wo aadmi goa ka hai,aur investigating officer dixit hai,'Rathore spoke up,

'Right,yaha bhi kuch aisa hi hoga,'arjun said thoughtfully,

'lekin hum pura ignore nehi kar sakte,dixit ko shaq ho jayega,'

'haan to hume do hisso mein kam karna hoga,ek plan dixit ke liye aur ek hamare liye,'Arjun replied looking at Rathore,

'lekin wo karna kiya chahate hai abhi tak samaj nehi aa raha,'rathore said thoughtfully,

'wahi pata lagana hai,per kaise?'Arjun told almost to himself,

All three were thinking about how to proceed when Ayesha came in with chotu.She had a bandage on her head and small bandages on cuts on her arms and shoulders.She came inside the room smiling followed by chotu and all looked up,

'Aao ayesha,thik lag raha hai?'rathore welcomed her with a smile,

'jee sir,ab acha lag raha hai,hospital mein akele bore ho gayi thi,ab energy wapas ayi
hai,'she replied smiling back,

'good,jao thora rest karlo,fir aa jana,'

'rest to kar rahi thi,abhi kuch kam karti hu,mein fresh hoke abhi ayi,'she smiled and left.

Chotu joined the other three in the case discussions.Chotu had just sat down beside shree taking the cup of coffee from him when Ayesha came running inside.

'Sir,aiye mere sath,'

All of them stood up looking at aisha's shocked face.Sameer walked to her,

'kiya hua ayesha?'he asked her surprised at her sudden gesture,

'sir mera room kisine search kiya hai,'

'what?'

All rushed to her room and found the cupboard open and things scattered.Someone must have searched the room.

'shayad unhe abhi tak chip nehi mila,'Arjun retorted with a sparkle in his eyes.

'apko kaise pata sir?'chotu asked arjun,

'pehele ayesha ka accident karwaya,agar wo mar jati to uske jeans ke pocket se chip nikalna itna muskil nehi hota,per uske accident unke mutabik nehi hua,then they tried to search for it in the hospital,but shree had sent the clothes to the laundry,fir sure laundry mein koshish ki hogi,waha nehi mila tabhi yaha aye hai,yaha bhi dekh ke nehi lagta mila hai,milta to itne frustration se kapre nehi fekte,dekho'arjun explained showing the scattered clothes all over the room,

'aur ye aj hi hua hoga,warna room service zaroor report karta,per aisa koi report to nehi aya'Rathore concluded,

'fir wo chip gaya kaha?'ayesha asked,

'pata nehi,lekin usme kuch to zaroor hai jo wo aise dhoond rahe hai,'Arjun said thoughtful again,

'filhal hume dixit ko samhalne ke bare mein sochna parega,ayesha tum fresh hoke jaldi aao,'rathore ordered and went out.

All left for shree's room and Ayesha started arranging things.

After about half an hour Ayesha came to Shree's room and found everyone lost in thoughts.Arjun was sitting on the sofa rotating the pen between his fingers,rathore was standing at the window,looking outside and shree sitting on the bed working on his laptop.Chotu has gone to his room to speak on phone.
Ayesha sat on the bed beside shree and looked into the laptop,asking him raising an eyebrow,

'kiya hua shree?kiya kar rahe ho?'

'dixit ka phone trace kar raha hu,arjun sir ne kaha hai,uske phone trace pe rakhne ke liye,'

'ohh kaha hai abhi?'

'apne police station mein hi hai,uff ye aadmi kitna acha actor hai ayesha,bilkul samaj nehi aya,hamara sare plans leak kar raha tha,aur hum kuch nehi kar paye'shree replied,

'hmm wo to hai,chotu kaha gaya?'ayesha asked again,

'apne informer se baat karne,anurag ka sach janne ki koshish kar raha hai,'

Ayesha nodded.Shree gestured her to ask their seniors about the plan next day,but she gestured him to continue,

'Sir,hum anurag ko sachme pakarne jayenge?'shree asked

Arjun and Rathore both didnt budge,just tilted their heads a bit and looked at him from the corner of their eyes.Shree was getting confused when ayesha squeezed his hand asking him to stay calm.

'ye log aise kiyu hai?jitna samaj ata hai,usse zyada confuse kar dete hai,aur confuse ho jao to gurte hai,aur daat te bhi hai,'shree complained to ayesha in a very low tone,

Ayesha chuckled and shree glared at her.

There was a knock at the door and Sakshi came in.Hearing the knock,the two acps turned towards the door,

'Sakshi kab ayi?'Ayesha immediately got up,

'ayesha tum kaisi ho?'sakshi asked her,

'mein thik hu,aao'

'nehi mein abhi fresh hoke ati hu,'she said looking towards Arjun,who had turned his back to her again,and then at rathore who gave a small nod.

Shree was continuously tracking Dixit's location and found him roaming around goa for the last 20 minutes.

Arjun was still thinking with his pen spining and Rathore was speaking with commisioner,when Sakshi came running inside.

'Arjun wo chip mil gaya..'she said smiling cheerfully.

Arjun stood up surprised and Rathore looked at her with the phone on his ear numb.Shree looked up at her shocked and Ayesha looked straight at the chip in her hand.

'mere room mein zameen mein para tha,'she said holding the chip towards them.
