Sometimes its hard to put down into words what a character does to you. Riya was one such character. The main reason for watching Arjun was Sana Khan. The excitment that went on my face and my friend face was something else. We were thrilled because after her superb performance as Lavyana in IPK, we couldn't be anymore thrilled to see her back in 4 lions new show. Then we found out she was cast opposite Shaleen Malhotra. We obviously didn't know who he was but something about the way their both photos were placed; something click; something raw and we knew there would be sparks. We were so so right. Can never forget the first episode we saw. The chemistry between the two lead actors was evident and Sana was Riya. The obvious girl next door with a crazy spunk. As the episodes proceed, we saw so many shades of Riya. From being a super cop, to a girl who had her own set of past, to a crazy friend to a scared girl whose afraid to take a life. Each layer was different and Sana lived through those layers. She brought the life and soul of the character of Riya.
So when that episode aired when they declared Riya dead, it left a lump inside the heart. Till this date, somewhere there is hope that eventually they will be bring her back. Considering this is a crime show, no one will question a dead character alive nor will they question a duplicate or doopleganger. Sana was the soul and life of the show as Riya.
Riya brought in the crazy masti that we have been friends with Shree and Chotu. Her one liners whether Rathore and Arjun can come together, her sweet dimple smile that melted every viewer's heart. Riya was the SOUL of Arjun. It's only been a year since she's gone but it feels like centuries." When one person is missing, it feels the whole world is depolutated" and that's what describes Riya's depature from the show Arjun.
We miss you Sana. We miss the vivacious Riya who made the entire show Arjun into something else. Characters have come and gone but you're place in the show is at a different level. We can never forget you for that sweet dimpled smile will always be part of our memories.
Arjun and Riya will always remain special. They way their story ended was tragic because Arjun and Riya were never a couple nor were they ever friends but what they had was special. What they had was intense. What they had was raw and something extraordinary. If they could have been.. they would have been extra extraordinary.
