So, here I am, having watched a few episodes of Arjun and then finding nothing new from other shows nor anything really different or non-"CSI"esque.

It is not a criticism if I say that I expected more out of this show. Something as tantalizing as "Byomkesh Bakshi"

Today, you have Sujoy Ghosh (yeah the director of KAHAANI) playing the famous detective Byomkesh Bakshi in Rituparno Ghosh's last directorial venture, Bengali mystery thriller Satyanweshi.

Even the great Satyajit Ray made Byomkesh Bakshi with Uttam Kumar.

One of the most successful adaptions of Byomkesh Bakshi (written by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay in Bengali) was the DD produced "Byomkesh Bakshi" directed by Basu Chatterjee with Byomkesh played by Rajit Kapoor

There are currently plans afoot to recreate Byomkesh Baksi with Sushant Singh Rajput, directed by Dibankar Banerjee.

We also have a replica of Byomkesh Bakshi in Bangladesh, called as Masud Rana.

Apart from this one character, we also had the Bollywood director Pankuj Parasher directed DD serial, with Pankaj Kapoor playing "Karamchand."

The difference is that technology has changed and clues can now be got with technological advances unlike press clippings etc., in the times of Byomkesh Bakshi as shown in Ray's serial or Basuda's serial. That way Arjun does get some brownie points.

Arjun is following the trend set by Byomkesh Bakshi as unlike CID, or Crime Patrol, this serial is more of a projection of the central character's strengths and weaknesses with other cast playing a supporting role, more or less. (barring a few exceptions).

My contention is...why not do better research and create better stories.

Like for example, the story about water contamination, why not relate it to industrial pollution a la Pepsi or Coke plants in Kerala polluting the ground waters and related industrial crimes, instead of always making it personal vendetta dramas.

PS: Separate post as the earlier post has been edited often

I am not asking Arjun to do an "Erin Brockovich" or another "Civil Action" but just asking them to widen their repertoire, instead of limiting themselves to always this revenge-personal-vendetta stories.

There is a world of crime out there...that needs a fresh look, fresh prespective and fresh follow up...there are so many unsolved crimes, crimes that are suppressed, at the corporate, industrial, organization, state, collective level. There are so many stories.

It's not like people only connect to individual-based personal stories of love-hate-revenge-crimes.

My gentle request: Widen the net!

Well, I would rather not compare Arjun with the likes of Byomkesh Bakshi or Feluda, because they are a class apart! 😊
I do agree, many of Arjun episodes are inspired from CSI etc, and it would be a pleasure to see something different.

"Like for example, the story about water contamination, why not relate it to industrial pollution a la Pepsi or Coke plants in Kerala polluting the ground waters and related industrial crimes, instead of always make it personal vendetta dramas."

Yes, something like this would be very welcome. I am from Kerala, so I know what you are talking about.😊 Why don't you convey your thoughts to the PH via forum32.com? I don't know if they do go through all suggestions posted there, but it might be worth a try.

PS: I think I should warn you, there's a great chance that your thoughts won't be perceived in the right spirit here.😊

@miss-bennet: U r so right that Byomkesh Bakshi, Feluda are a class apart, but there is no reason for them not to try

Well, I would rather write here and let it get lost in the mix than make an effort to sign up for one more account on one more forum

Thanks for the fair warning my friend regarding the "PS" - I've had first-hand experience with that in another forum I am a part of - so fiqar nots

My thought process @miss-bennet: is already they are aware of it all, but are sticking to their storylines and stories because of their own constraints and may be the template or framework they got from the channel as to "what" and "what not" & "do's" and "don'ts"

Take care sweets 🤗 and thanks a ton for not leaving me alone to face the music ❤️
